Things like the screen can have an impact on power consumption due to their brightness.
The brighter your screen is, the faster your battery will go.
Samsung insider reveals top tricks every user needs to know about to save battery and storage
You can manually turn the brightness down.
Or you can set up automatic screen brightness, so your phone adjusts to the best brightness for the ambient lighting around you.
You can go a step further by activating dark mode too.
Elsewhere, switching off mobile data can also help preserve battery.
You could deactivate it when you're home and rely on Wi-Fi instead, or simply set your phone to flight mode to block off all connections.
Then there's the adaptive battery and battery optimisation options.
"To have apps use your phone's battery only when you need them to, keep Adaptive Battery and battery optimisation on," Google explains.
"The Pixel battery continuously learns your behaviors and optimizes itself based on your most recent app usage.
"When you set up a new device or after a factory reset, optimization may take up a few weeks to take full effect.
"For best results keep Adaptive Battery and Battery Optimisation on."

AI-driven search ad spending set to surge to $26 billion by 2029, data shows

June 4 (Reuters) - Spending on AI-powered search advertising is poised to surge to nearly $26 billion by 2029 from just over $1 billion this year in the U.S., driven by rapid adoption of the technology and more sophisticated user targeting, data from Emarketer showed on Wednesday. Companies that rely on traditional keyword-based search ads could experience revenue declines due to the growing popularity of AI search ads, which offer greater convenience and engagement for users, according to the research firm. Search giants such as Alphabet-owned (GOOGL.O), opens new tab Google and Microsoft's (MSFT.O), opens new tab Bing have added AI capabilities to better compete with chatbots such as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Perplexity AI, which provide users with direct information without requiring to click through multiple results. Apple (AAPL.O), opens new tab is exploring the integration of AI-driven search capabilities into its Safari browser, potentially moving away from its longstanding partnership with Google. The report has come as concerns grew about users increasingly turning to the chatbots for conversational search and AI-powered search results could upend business models of some companies. Online education firm Chegg (CHGG.N), opens new tab said in May that it would lay off about 248 employees as it looks to cut costs and streamline operations because students are using AI-powered tools including ChatGPT over traditional edtech platforms. "Publishers and other sites are feeling the pain from AI search. As they lose out on traffic, we're seeing publishers lean into subscriptions and paid AI licensing deals to bolster revenue," Emarketer analyst Minda Smiley said. GRAPHIC AI search ad spending is expected to constitute nearly 1% of total search ad spending this year and 13.6% by 2029 in the U.S., according to Emarketer. Sectors such as financial services, technology, telecom, and healthcare are embracing AI as they are seeing clear advantages in using the technology to enhance their ad strategies, while the retail industry's adoption is slow, the report said. Google recently announced the expansion of its AI-powered search capabilities into the consumer packaged goods sector through enhancements in Google Shopping.

YouTube fans warned app will stop working on seven popular gadgets including some iPhones as major update rolls out

YOUTUBE'S app will soon stop working on a number of popular devices including some iPhone models. The Google -owned platform has put out an update meaning selected older gadgets are no longer compatible. 1 YouTube now requires a minimum of iOS 16 installed on iPhones instead of iOS 15, and iPadOS 16 on iPads. More recent products are able to run iOS 16 and later so they're unaffected. But as with any software update, there is a cut off eventually. There are seven Apple devices that are too old to run iOS 16 / iPadOS 16 so they can't use the new YouTube app. This includes the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which were released back in 2016. See the full list below: iPhone 7 iPhone 7 Plus iPhone 6s iPhone 6s Plus iPhone SE iPad Air 2 iPad mini 4 Most of these are already on Apple's dreaded "vintage" list - and the iPad Air 2 is "obsolete". It's likely more popular apps will follow the same trend as YouTube given that dated kit can no longer handle the tech improvements. WhatsApp just did the same thing to a number of older iPhones. Doomed gadgets to STOP working properly in 2025 closures – phones, laptops & even home thermostats to go wrong in weeks However, affected users who wish to cling onto their current handset and still use YouTube have a back-up option. They can still access the YouTube website via their iPhone web browser of course. APPLE'S VINTAGE AND OBSOLETE LIST Apple defines iPhones and other products as vintage when sales were stopped more than five years ago but less than seven years ago. After seven years, they become obsolete resulting in no hardware service at all. Here is the full list of "vintage" iPhones as it now stands: iPhone 4 (8GB) iPhone 5 iPhone 6 iPhone 7 Plus iPhone SE iPhone 8 (64GB, 256GB) iPhone 8 Red iPhone 8 Plus Red iPhone X And these are the iPhones that are obsolete: iPhone iPhone 3G (China mainland) 8GB iPhone 3G 8GB, 16GB iPhone 3GS (China mainland) 16GB, 32GB iPhone 3GS (8GB) iPhone 3GS 16GB, 32GB iPhone 4 CDMA iPhone 4 CDMA (8GB) iPhone 4 16GB, 32GB iPhone 4 GSM (8GB), Black iPhone 4S iPhone 4S (8GB) iPhone 5C iPhone 5S iPhone 6 Plus iPhone 6s (32GB) iPhone 6s Plus (32GB) Image credit: Reuters
