Woman lures ex-lover from Dubai, kills him with stepdad aid
COIMBATORE: In a macabre murder, a Dubai-based travel agent was lured to Tamil Nadu by his ex-lover and bumped off with the help of her stepdad.
T Thiyagarajan (69), stepfather of Saradha (32) are main accused in the case, is already convicted for murdering his stepdaughter's husband in 2018 and was currently out on bail pending appeal.
The deceased has been identified as D Sigamani (47), a native of Tiruvarur district who operated a travel agency in Dubai. His family resides in his hometown in TN.
The Peelamedu police have altered the missing person case into murder after Thiyagarajan surrendered before a court in Coimbatore. Five others, including Saradha's mother and sister, were arrested in the case on Friday.
The Peelamedu police have also sought the permission of revenue authorities to exhume Sigamani's body which was buried by Karur police as unclaimed body 10 days ago.
Henchman assisted the accused in the crime
When she sought the money back, Sigamani allegedly harassed her, leading to the plot to eliminate him. Thiyagarajan of Thoothukudi district was living in Gandhimaa Nagar in Coimbatore for over 30 years with his partner, Gomathi, mother of Saradha. He is a life convict in a previous murder case involving Saradha's husband, Gunavel, and had been out on bail after appealing the sentence at the Madras High Court.

A joint statement by the IDF and Shin Bet confirmed that Sinwar and Rafah Brigade Commander Mohammad Shabaneh were killed in an underground command center beneath the hospital. Items belonging to them, along with intelligence materials and other bodies, were also recovered. Footage released by the IDF showed a body being dragged from a tunnel under the hospital. The Israeli military recovered the body of Gaza-based Hamas militant group's de facto chief Mohammed Sinwar in a tunnel beneath the European Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) announced on Sunday. The IDF made the announcement after it conducted a thorough identification of the body via DNA checks, though Hamas is yet to publicly confirm the death of Sinwar. Mohammed Sinwar, 49, was killed by the Israeli military in an air strike on May 13, in which at least 28 Palestinians were killed and dozens of them were injured, a Hamas-run civil defence agency had claimed. Ludhiana: Groom's dad attacked over inter-caste marriage tiff
A man was allegedly kidnapped and assaulted in Ludhiana by the family members of a woman who had recently married against her their wish. The incident happened in Gill Colony, Daba, on Saturday night. The victim, Jayant Kumar, was reportedly taken from his home by the woman's angry relatives after his son, Sooraj Kumar, married Mandeep Kaur through court on June 3. The couple had gone into hiding after their marriage. Sooraj's mother, Sarita Devi, said her son worked in a private company and was in a relationship with Mandeep, his colleague. Despite opposition from Mandeep's family, they got married and went to live together at an unknown location. Sarita said that on June 7, Mandeep's brothers — Vikramjit, Jaswinder, and Narinder Singh — along with their uncle Manjeet Singh and an associate named Kaushal, came to their house and demanded to know the couple's location. When the family said they didn't know, the group forcefully took Jayant Kumar with them. 'They kidnapped my husband and left. I saw Kaushal, my son's friend, helping them. I called the police right away,' said Sarita. She added that after the police contacted the accused, they sent her husband back in an auto-rickshaw. He had been badly beaten. Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Gurwinder Singh from Daba police station said an FIR has been registered under Sections 140(3) (kidnapping) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the accused, who are all from the Sahnewal area. He said arrests would be made soon. 'The medical report of Jayant Kumar is awaited. More charges could be added based on the report,' he said. Similar incident in May Earlier, on May 17, a woman was abducted from her home in Ghalib Kalan village by the enraged family members of a girl who had allegedly eloped with the woman's nephew. The Jagraon Sadar police rescued the woman within hours and arrested four persons involved in the crime within hours. The victim, Kirna Devi, aunt of migrant labourer Jai Kumar, was forcibly taken from her home around 11pm by four members of the aggrieved family. Jai Kumar, a native of Jhansi of Uttar Pradesh and currently working at a farmhouse in Ghalib Kalan, had reportedly eloped with a girl from the Jhansi-based family, promising to marry her. A case in connection with the elopement had already been registered against him at a police station in Jhansi.
