Orlando Pirates could sell Mofokeng to Israeli club for just R31m?
Orlando Pirates could lose talented Relebohile Mofokeng for just R31 million if he gets sold to Maccabi Haifa.
The 20-year-old has been described as a generational talent having been the Buccaneers' best player this past season.
According to a report by Israeli publication Sport5 , Maccabi Haifa have been monitoring the Bafana Bafana winger for some time and are ready to made a bid
'Orlando Pirates [are] demanding about 1.5 million euros (approx. R31.2 million) for the 20-year-old talent, as well as a percentage of any future sale,' the publication said.
The Buccaneers have one of the most talented young players the country has produced. Given Mofokeng's achievent at such a young age, many would think the player is worth more than R31 million.
With the team set to jet off to Europe for their pre-season training, Pirates need to expose the young attacker as much as possible to European clubs. A bigger offer might emerge in the coming weeks or months before the transfer window closes.
Although R31 million is a lot of money, Orlando Pirates should know that Israel is not the best country for Mofokeng to improve as a player. Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos suggested the player to move to Belgium, Spain, Portugal or the Netherlands.

Kaizer Chiefs face Euro competition in chase for AFL star
Kaizer Chiefs have reignited their interest in Mamelodi Sundowns winger Thapelo Maseko, but they now face fresh competition from abroad, as Cypriot outfit Aris Limassol step into the picture. Although Maseko found himself on the fringes of Sundowns' squad under Miguel Cardoso, having even been left out of the FIFA Club World Cup group, his talent continues to attract serious attention both locally and internationally. A well-placed source has confirmed Aris Limassol's interest in the Bafana Bafana winger. The Cypriot club have reportedly begun early talks around a possible transfer. 'There is local interest including Kaizer Chiefs and from his former team SuperSport United. But it seems a possible move to Cyprus is more prominent at this point. They have enquired about the price and signing-on fee and some logistics as well already. It's all up to the involved parties to agree on everything and things will work out. But, yes, interest from Aris Limassol, the same team that Mihlali Mayambela plays for, is there,' the source revealed. Despite foreign interest, Kaizer Chiefs remain firmly in the conversation. The Soweto giants view Maseko as a key target as they seek to bolster their wide attacking options ahead of the new campaign. Chiefs previously expressed interest in the winger when he emerged as a breakout star at SuperSport United, and their admiration hasn't faded. Though Maseko did not enjoy regular game time at Chloorkop last season, he still made headlines. The winger clinched the inaugural African Football League Player of the Tournament award and played a role in Bafana Bafana's bronze-medal finish at AFCON in Ivory Coast. The next few weeks could prove decisive. Kaizer Chiefs will hope that their local pull and Maseko's desire for more consistent game time convince the player to snub a European move in favour of a high-profile switch to Naturena. Where should Maseko play his football, Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport, or Limassol? Let us know by leaving a comment below or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Nasreddine Nabi leads Chiefs into pre-season with Dutch tour
Nasreddine Nabi and Kaizer Chiefs will officially return for pre-season training on Friday, 20 June, as per FARPost. As they build on the 2025/2026 campaign following their Nedbank Cup triumph. Nabi's continued presence at the helm puts an end to recent speculation about his future. The Tunisian tactician, who steered the club to silverware for the first time in a decade by defeating Orlando Pirates in the 2025 Nedbank Cup final, remains firmly in charge. Kaizer Chiefs' victory in the Nedbank Cup not only restored pride at Naturena but also fulfilled one of Nabi's major mandates, ending the club's long-standing trophy drought. The triumph came despite a disappointing league finish that saw Chiefs miss out on the top eight. However, they still secured qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup, offering a vital continental platform for the new season. Nabi's technical team will oversee the first training session at the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena. Players will begin with medical assessments, before shifting focus to fitness work and tactical drills. While most of the squad will return on Friday, a few players are expected to join on Monday. Amakhosi have announced a European pre-season tour, with a camp scheduled in the Netherlands from 3 to 19 July. While Chiefs have yet to reveal their match schedule during the trip, the overseas stint signals their ambition to sharpen up against European opposition. The club has officially parted ways with Sabelo Radebe, Ranga Chivaviro, Edmilson Dove, and Njabulo Blom. Blom returns to St. Louis City SC in Major League Soccer following the expiry of his loan deal. Several more departures look imminent. Mduduzi Mdantsane, Fiacre Ntwari, George Matlou, and Edson Castillo are all reportedly on the verge of leaving Naturena, as Chiefs clear space for fresh talent. While the club has not formally announced any new signings. A source revealed that former Orlando Pirates defenders Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako have joined Kaizer Chiefs. How do Mamelodi Sundowns' social media followers stack up to Orlando Pirates'?
Mamelodi Sundowns have hogged the headlines in recent weeks – and years – following their eighth-consecutive PSL title in the 2024/25 season. More recently, plenty of airtime has been given to the Tshwane giants, particularly related to their participation in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup – and the amount of money Masandawana have banked. Both their PSL and Club World Cup success must surely be making Orlando Pirates and their supporters green with envy. While Mamelodi Sundowns are most definitely 'winning' on the field and in terms of their bank balance, how do their number of social media followers stack up against the Buccaneers? Here's a look at which club has more followers on Facebook, X and Instagram: Social media Mamelodi Sundowns Orlando Pirates Facebook 2.7 million 4.4 million X 1 223 979 2 134 390 Instagram 1 049 322 908 877 TOTAL 4 973 301 7 443 267 As can clearly be seen, Orlando Pirates remain tops when it comes to online supporters – although they may want to work on their number of Instagram fans. One is pretty sure that Orlando Pirates' management would happily swap their social media advantage for another PSL title – or participation in the next edition of the FIFA Club World Cup in 2029.
