ALBAWABA - The Pakistani military announced on Wednesday that the death toll from Indian missile strikes in Pakistan and firing along the border has jumped to 26 civilians, AFP reported.
Pakistan's army spokesperson, Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said: "Until now 26 innocent civilians have been martyred in attacks."
Late Tuesday, India carried out a series of airstrikes against Muzaffarabad in Pakistani-administered Kashmir, amid escalating tensions between the two countries.

On the other hand, after the attack, Islamabad retaliated by targeting Indian military points, including downing several warplanes and arresting Indian military personnel.
The Pakistani military claimed to have shot down five Indian jets, including three French Rafale fighter aircraft, inside India on Wednesday. "So far, the Pakistan army, in its defence and its response to the enemy, has shot down five jets and a combat drone. They attacked Pakistan," Chaudhry added.
He also said: "The India Air Force jets include three Rafale, one MiG 29 and one Su plane."
The Indian military said they launched "Operation Sindoor", attacking nine targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
A video capturing the first moments of the Indian attack on Pakistan on May 6 was shared on social media, showing a huge ball of fire following a rocket attack by New Delhi.

Hamas source says group accepted Gaza ceasefire proposal; Witkoff denies
A Hamas source said the group had accepted a Gaza ceasefire proposal presented by mediators that reportedly involves the freeing of 10 living captives in two batches and a 70-day truce. "Hamas has agreed to the new proposal by US envoy Steve Witkoff, which the movement received from mediators," the source told AFP, adding that "during the truce, negotiations would begin on a permanent ceasefire with American guarantees". White House envoy Steve Witkoff rejected Hamas' claims and said: 'What I have seen from Hamas is disappointing and completely unacceptable' – according to statements made to Axios' Barak Ravid. BREAKING: White House envoy @SteveWitkoff rejects Hamas' claim that the group has agreed to his proposal for a hostage and ceasefire deal and tells me: "What I have seen from Hamas is disappointing and completely unacceptable" — Barak Ravid (@BarakRavid) May 26, 2025 Witkoff added that 'Israel' will agree to a temporary ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal that would see half of the living and half of the deceased captives to return. '[This would] lead to substantive negotiations to find a path to a permanent ceasefire, which I agreed to preside over. That deal is on the table. Hamas should take it,' Witkoff added. Earlier Monday, 'Israel' had dismissed a proposal put forward by Hamas that called for the release of five captives in exchange for several demands. Hamas' proposal included the release of five living captives in return for several demands: the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) withdrawing to their positions in Gaza from two months ago, unrestricted humanitarian aid access across all Gaza areas, ongoing negotiations for the release of remaining captives—both living and deceased—and a form of American recognition of Hamas.

He added that the mediators presented the proposal 'over the past few days.'

Massive Russian Airstrike on Ukraine Leaves at Least 12 Dead - Jordan News
Massive Russian Airstrike on Ukraine Leaves at Least 12 Dead Ukraine was hit by a massive Russian airstrike on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 people. Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones temporarily shut down airports in Moscow just hours before the final stage of a major prisoner exchange operation between the two countries was set to begin. اضافة اعلان Ukrainian emergency services described it as a 'night of horror,' marking the second consecutive night of Russian attacks involving ballistic missiles and drones following similar strikes late Friday into Saturday. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that it had intercepted 45 missiles and 266 Russian drones during the attacks. In a statement on Telegram, the military said, 'Most regions of Ukraine were affected by the hostile assault. Enemy air raids were recorded in 22 regions, with cruise missiles and combat drones hitting 15 locations.' Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday called for increased pressure on Russia to force it to stop the attacks and end the ongoing war. This comes as both countries continue their largest prisoner exchange operation since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. A Russian airstrike killed three children—two aged 8 and 12, and a 17-year-old boy—in the Zhytomyr region in northwestern Ukraine, according to emergency services. Four more people were killed in the Khmelnytskyi region in western Ukraine, and another four in the Kyiv region. In the southern Mykolaiv region, a man was found dead after a drone strike. AFP correspondents in the Ukrainian capital reported hearing explosions. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that 'the capital is under attack' but said that 'air defenses are active.' Kyiv's military administration chief, Tymur Tkachenko, warned that 'tonight will not be easy.' Overnight attacks were also recorded in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. In Moscow, restrictions were imposed at four airports, including the main Sheremetyevo International Airport, according to Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 12 drones heading toward the capital had been intercepted. AFP
