Rodriguez/Getty Images) Getty Images Walmart heiress Christy Walton, one of the richest women in America, has joined a small group of billionaires speaking out against President Donald Trump. The 76-year-old Walton, who is worth an estimated $19.3 billion according to Forbes, paid to take out a full-page advertisement in The New York Times on Sunday calling on readers to 'mobilize' on Saturday, June 14. The advertisement appears to be an escalation of one she paid for in March, also in The Times print edition. At the top of the ad are the words 'No Kings,' which appear to reference a political organization that's coordinating hundreds of anti-Trump protests across the U.S. this Saturday, June 14, the same day Trump is slated to host a military parade in Washington, D.C.. Organizers of the counter-protests told Axios they are expecting this to be the largest single-day rally since the start of the administration. No Kings spokesperson Andrew Cook told Forbes there will be more than 1,800 events across the country. (The group is not planning a protest in D.C. as part of their plan to 'make action everywhere else.') 'In America, we don't do kings,' reads the No Kings website. 'They've defied our courts, deported Americans, disappeared people off the streets, attacked our civil rights, and slashed our services.' Walton's exact involvement in the group isn't clear, but she is listed as the sponsor of the New York Times advertisement, which lists eight different principles she supports – from caring for 'veterans and children' to defending 'against the aggression of dictators.' 'We are the people of the United States of America. The honor, dignity, and integrity of our country are not for sale,' reads the ad. The full-page ad that ran in The New York Times print edition on Sunday. Kerry Dolan 'I saw the ads Ms. Walton placed in newspapers this past weekend,' Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, one of the organizations partnering with No Kings to organize the anti-Trump protests, told Forbes in an emailed statement. 'People from all walks of life support No Kings because our country was founded on the idea that presidents answer to the people – not to authoritarian overreach or violence.' Walton owns an estimated 1.9% stake in Walmart, which she inherited after her husband, John Walton, died in a plane crash in 2005. John Walton was one of four children of Sam Walton, the founder of the Bentonville, Arkansas-based retailer. John's siblings – Rob, Jim and Alice – are among the top 15 richest people in the world, worth at least $100 billion apiece. Christy's 38-year-old son Lukas is also a billionaire after inheriting an estimated 3.7% of Walmart upon his father's death. Lukas runs the sustainability-focused philanthropic investment platform Builders Vision and is worth some $39.6 billion, according to Forbes. Despite having a notable stake in Walmart, Christy Walton has never had any role in running the retailer, which has recently clashed publicly with the Trump administration. Last month, Trump threatened Walmart, the nation's largest retailer, after its CEO Doug McMillon warned about raising prices in response to Trump's tariffs. 'EAT THE TARIFFS,' Trump said in a Truth Social post calling out Walmart. 'I'll be watching, and so will your customers!!!' Walton hasn't directly criticized Trump. However, she reportedly co-hosted a fundraiser for Trump's Democratic opponent Kamala Harris in Jackson Hole last September. She also gave more than $700,000 in political donations last year, according to Federal Election Commission data reviewed by Forbes. This includes $100,000 to WelcomePAC, a political action committee focused on helping the Democratic Party reach 'mainstream Americans,' and $200,000 to The Lincoln Project, a 'pro-democracy' PAC formed by former conservatives. In March, Walton paid for another full-page ad in The New York Times. It looks similar to the June 8 ad – with the same eight core principles and image of the Statue of Liberty – but made no mention of No Kings. It instead encouraged readers to 'attend your town halls, be civil.' Walton is one of very few billionaires to vocalize opposition against Trump despite a controversial first first few months in office due to tariffs, immigration crackdowns and unprecedented attacks against some of the country's most prestigious universities. Last Thursday, Ken Griffin, founder of the $63 billion ( assets) Citadel hedge fund and a major GOP donor, joined the small group of critics taking aim at Trump – specifically, his 'Big Beautiful Bill,' which Griffin argued at the 2025 Forbes Iconocolast Summit in Manhattan 'will unquestionably add several trillion dollars' to the federal budget deficit. The financier, who voted for Trump in 2024, also called out the president for attacking McMillon, the Walmart CEO. 'We should not be criticizing CEOs for being honest, right? And that's all the CEO of Walmart was doing' Griffin said on stage at the summit. 'Shame on the administration.' Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, an heir to the Hyatt Hotel fortune who is worth an estimated $3.7 billion, has been perhaps the most vocal critic of Trump. The billionaire governor blasted Trump in April during a fiery speech at a fundraising event in New Hampshire, calling for mass protests and disruptions. 'We will fight their cruelty with every megaphone and microphone we have.' The next month, Pritzker described the Trump administration as 'authoritarian' during an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel talk show. Others billionaires taken specific issue with Trump's tariff policy, including Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMorgan Chase, who warned in his letter to shareholders that tariffs would raise prices. Representatives for Walton and Walmart did not respond to Forbes' request for comment prior to publication. There was also no response from the email address listed at the bottom of both Walton's ads.

In addition to Kendrick and Drake going back and forth, we saw battles between Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion, Ice Spice & Latto, Quavo & Chris Brown. Even Marlon Wayans wrote a country diss track against Soulja Boy. As we celebrate Black Music Month, it's only right that we credit the first diss track to become a viral sensation. At just 10, Roxanne Shanté was making noise in the underground rap scene. By 14, she was an undefeated battle rapper and a member of the Juice Crew. That opportunity came when she ran into neighbors Marley Marl, Mr. Magic, and Tyrone Williams, who were frustrated after U.T.F.O. backed out of a show. Though hesitant at first, Shanté was convinced to record a freestyle that became a seven-minute track disrupting U.T.F.O's plans. The diss track played on U.T.F.O's unreleased song 'Roxanne Roxanne', Which Shanté used as fuel freestyled from the woman in the song's perspective, to mock the group's manhood. 'Roxanne's Revenge' was released in 1984, reached #22 on Billboard, sold over 250,000 copies in New York, and sparked what's known as the 'Roxanne Wars', a battle resulting in over 30 response tracks. Roxanne was a rising star credited by Nas as an inspiration. But with fame came challenges, especially for a dark-skinned girl under 18. Beyond battling rappers, she faced physical and sexual abuse, foster care, colorism, and sexism. Decades later, women like Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, and GloRilla face similar backlash. Yet, like Shanté, they respond with bars that prove they can outrap men in the genre while facing systemic challenges. Ms. Shirley, 4, is a TikTok sensation. Some fans are worried, and her mom is speaking out. Latisha Tucker has always known her daughter, LaR'iyah, had star power. So when her 4-year-old went TikTok viral in February for line dancing to 803Fresh's hit song 'Boots on the Ground,' she wasn't surprised. LaR'iyah, known online as 'Ms. Shirley,' had gone viral before. But the TikTok, where she smiled while stomping with fringe boots and a pastel pink fan, brought her a new legion of fans. She grew to 981,000 followers on the platform, appeared on the Jennifer Hudson show and was featured in 803Fresh's music video of the song. What Tucker didn't expect, however, was how quick the stream of hate from viewers followed. Suddenly, the TikTok page's comment section was filled with viewers sounding off on everything from if the level of attention on LaR'iyah is excessive to if the dance moves are appropriate for a 4-year-old. 'When are we gonna stop exploiting our babies?' one commenter seethed. 'This is wild that we think this is OK,' another replied. The attention crossed a line after TikTokers posted videos stating they were calling Child Protective Services on Tucker. It's the latest instance of a parent receiving flak over posting their children online. When parents put their child on social media, they open themselves up for reactions that may be out of their control, says Leah Plunkett, author of 'Sharenthood: Why We Should Think Before We Talk About Our Kids Online' and a faculty member at Harvard Law School. Watch: Tips to prevent oversharing information about your kids online Who is viral sensation, Ms. Shirley? The earliest videos on the TikTok account feature hairstyles done by Tucker, who works as a hairstylist, and videos of LaR'iyah as a baby. LaR'iyah started teaching herself line dances by propping up Tucker's phone. By 2 years old, she was dancing to Megan Thee Stallion, the Wop dance club remix and GloRilla. The nickname 'Ms. Shirley' is one she's had since birth and has no correlation with actress Shirley Temple. Tucker says she knows haters come with the territory of being an online creator. She says those making response videos are looking to monetize discussion of LaR'iyah for their own platform, given her name recognition. 'A lot of them just joined the bandwagon of what somebody is saying,' Tucker says. Since going viral, LaR'iyah has taken part in more than 10 in-person events as a celebrity guest, including rodeo days, parades and family events. Her critics say these appearances give adults too much access to a small child. As her fame has grown, so has misinformation. Some posts criticizing Tucker that included videos showing adult men holding LaR'iyah turned out to be adults Tucker already knew. 'People just pick and choose and point out and place it in the timeline where it'll fit their narrative,' Tucker says, adding that she is always right beside LaR'iyah. 'You can't put the genie back in the bottle' The backlash toward Tucker heated up when some critics recently re-upped a video she'd posted in 2024 of LaR'iyah doing the 'Red Dress' trend. In the video, which has more than 3.7 million views, LaR'iyah puts on a red dress, heels, lipstick and a wig over lyrics over Johnny Gill's 1990 R&B song 'My, My, My.' Commenters argued the suggestive nature of the song could direct bad actors toward LaR'iyah's videos. Tucker says the video only started receiving backlash this spring, even though it's been up for more than a year. 'All she is doing is being a kid like any other kid. like when we were young as little girls, we put on our moms' lipstick, her dress or her wig and her heels, and that's all it was,' Tucker says. The difference, experts say, is that when those childhood moments are put out to viewers online, they can't be taken back. In the modern digital age, where photos and videos make a permanent trail, child influencers will come face to face with the digital footprint left in their childhood, says Stacey Steinberg, a law professor at the University of Florida's Levin College of Law and the director of the school's Center on Children and Families. 'You can't put the genie back in the bottle,' Steinberg says. 'We have a lot of kids whose relationship with society has been permanently altered by these decisions by parents.' Plunkett says children in the online spotlight may afterwards struggle developmentally to figure out who they are without adults writing the script for them. And posting about kids online can blur the boundaries in children's minds of what is real and what is imagination. 'That stage is also their home, their school, their community, trips they're taking with their parents,' Plunkett says. 'They are not going to understand what is their real life and what is their stage life, and that can have really complicated and in some instances, devastating consequences." More: From Snapchat to YouTube, here's how to monitor and protect your kids online The risk of sharing your child online Steinberg says parents considering posting their kids should weigh motivations for sharing with their children's rights to maintain their privacy and control over their own digital footprint. Parents who share their children online risk data collection and exposure to bad actors. Strangers may use information posted online to find personal details, like where a child attends school, and collect or share data, including innocent images of children, in ways the creator has little control over. Child creators also risk being on the receiving end of fans who develop unhealthy relationships, which can result in incessant interactions that cross personal boundaries and stalking. Steinberg says some kids might appreciate the financial income or platform that comes with sharing, but others might come of age and feel 'embarrassed or self-conscious' about information that was shared, especially if it doesn't line up with the person they hope to be in adulthood. Tucker says she plans to put LaR'iyah's money aside to use for future plans, like a college education, and that she hopes the publicity will give her a platform to pursue dance or singing. Her supporters tell her to keep dancing. On a Facebook fan page, nearly 30,000 followers, many of whom lovingly refer to themselves as internet aunties, dote over new photos of LaR'iyah donning blinged out outfits, post prayers for her family and promote her events. The comments are filled with messages of support: 'Keep on stepping babygirl!' 'Don't dim your shine.' 'Team Ms. Shirley forever.'
