Al Zubair, Klingmann claim podium finishes in Zandvoort
They guided the Al Manar Racing by Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 EVO to third overall in race one on Saturday and repeated the feat at the Dutch circuit on Sunday afternoon to remain in contention for the Teams' and Drivers' Championships. Both drivers showcased their potential in both attacking and defensive driving during the course of the two absorbing races.
Al Zubair said: 'Very happy with the result. To come to the first time ever to Zandvoort and to finish P3 in a new car and a new team in the Sprint Championship is something we should be very happy with. On Saturday, we were close to second place but we lost position at the end of race one and finished third.
'Today, we were a solid P3 after a hard fight with the Sainteloc Audi. That made it quite fun. The most important thing now is that we are collecting solid points and we can hopefully continue on this path and secure top spot in the championship.'
Victory in the first of the weekend's races went to the Saintéloc Racing Audi with the Emil Frey Racing Ferrari edging out the Al Manar Racing crew for second place.
Klingmann then qualified the Al Manar Racing BMW in third place for the second of the one-hour Sprint races on Sunday with a best lap of 1min 34.508sec. Pole position went to Chris Lulham in the Emil Frey Racing Ferrari.
Thierry Vermeulen of Emil Frey Racing passed the chequered flag to secure the win in race two. The Tresor Attempto Racing Audi finished second and Al Zubair brought the Al Manar Racing BMW home in third place just behind Leonardo Moncini in the Audi.
Free practice got proceedings underway on Friday morning and the Al-Manar Racing duo got their weekend off to the perfect start by topping the session. They ran the Team WRT BMW for 50 laps and clocked the fastest tour of 1min 34.232sec on lap 17. The Tresor Attempto Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 was their closest rival with a best run of 1min 34.550sec.
Pre-qualifying followed in the afternoon and the Emil Frey Racing Ferrari topped the times with a best tour of 1min 34.334sec. Al Manar Racing's best run was a 1min 35.095sec lap.
Sainteloc Racing's Gilles Magnus topped the times with a lap of 1min 33.033sec in Q1 and the Al Manar Racing BMW was down in fifth place with a best run of 1min 33.930sec. That meant the crew started the opening race from the rear of the Gold Cup grid.
Action in the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup resumes at Monza in Italy on May 30-June 1.

Zubair's Al-Manar car racing clinches podium & fourth place in France
France – International racer Faisal bin Khalid al Zubair, representing Al-Manar Racing in collaboration with Team WRT, delivered a standout performance at the Magny-Cours round of the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe – Sprint Cup, securing a podium finish and placed 4th in the Gold Cup category. Al Zubair and his teammate Jens Klingmann clinched second place in the first race after initially finishing third. The result was upgraded following a penalty imposed on a competing team, solidifying their place on the podium. In the fiercely competitive series, which features 40 cars from top global teams and manufacturers, the duo's performance boosted Al-Manar Racing's standing in the championship. In the opening race, Klingmann began from fourth on the grid and gained early ground before handing over the BMW M4 GT3 Evo to Al Zubair. Under the Magny-Cours night lights, Al Zubair maintained a strong pace to secure a second-place finish, just behind Garage 59. The second race saw Al Zubair advance from sixth to fifth early on before being briefly overtaken. Klingmann took over during the driver change and attempted a late push, but yellow flag conditions in the closing laps prevented further progress. The team ultimately finished in fourth place, with Saintéloc Racing taking the win. Speaking after the race, Al Zubair said, 'It was a tough race, and I believe we got the most out of the BMW, especially with the added weight due to performance balancing. Securing second in Race 1 gave us crucial points, but the title race is getting tighter.' Following this round, Al-Manar Racing holds 'fifth place' in the 'Gold Cup Teams standings' with 68.5 points. Emil Frey Racing leads with 90 points, followed by Saintéloc Racing (87.5) and Garage 59 (80). Al Zubair and Klingmann clinch podium in France
Muscat – Al Manar Racing by Team WRT's Al Faisal al Zubair and Jens Klingmann followed up a superb second place in the Gold Cup category in the first Sprint race with fourth position in race two at the latest round of the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Series at Magny-Cours in France. The BMW M4 GT3 EVO duo initially finished third in race one and were promoted to second after a post-race penalty was applied to one of their Gold Cup rivals. The duo started at the rear of the Gold Cup grid for race two but managed to move up two positions to take points for fourth place. Oman-based Al Zubair said: 'It was a tough weekend. It was difficult. I think we maximised what we had with the BMW. Compared to some of the other manufacturers, it was almost impossible to do any better. Saying that, it's good points for the championship, but, at this rate, we are a little out of hand. 'P2 was good yesterday. I don't think we could have done any better. We were slower than the other cars. In Sprint we are fourth now in the championship. We were strong in testing here and we get 30kg more (weight penalty) and 30mm more. It depends what we get for the final round.' The result now means that Emil Frey Racing's Chris Lulham and Thierry Vermeulen lead the series on 90 points from Saintéloc Racing (87.5pts) and the Garage 59 Team (80pts). Tresor Attempto Racing (73pts) and Al Manar Racing by Team WRT remain fifth with 68.5 points. Klingmann took part in the first qualifying session and a best run of 1min 36.921sec gave the German fourth place on the grid behind the pole-winning Chris Lulham of Emil Frey Racing, the Garage 59 McLaren and Saintéloc Racing's Audi. Tresor Attempto Racing and Barwell Motorsport line duo in fifth and sixth on the grid for the first of the one-hour Sprint races in the evening. Klingmann took the wheel for the first stint in Sprint race one and made good progress with the car well-placed in third after the driver changeover with Al Zubair taking the wheel. Al Zubair went on to put in a superb stint behind the wheel of the BMW under the lights and was rewarded with second place in the final results of the race behind Louis Prette in the Garage 59 McLaren after a post-race penalty had been applied to one of his rivals that lifted the BMW up a place in the rankings. The Tresor Attempto Racing Audi rounded off the podium places. The result also lifted Al Manar Racing by Team WRT back into title contention. Al Zubair carded a best lap of 1min 37.269sec in the second qualifying session for Sprint race two and that put the Al-Manar Racing BMW in sixth place on the starting grid for the Gold Cup runners. Pole position went to the Emil Frey Racing Ferrari with a time of 1min 36.107sec. Al Zubair made a strong start, quickly passed Sebastian Øgaard in the Tresor Attempto Racing Adi to snatch fifth place and set his sights on the Garage 59 McLaren. But the Omani was repassed by the Audi and had to come back from sixth place again. The driver changeover ran smoothly and Klingmann settled into fifth position with just under half an hour remaining. He managed to pass Bijoy Garg in the Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini and set his sights on third-placed Leonardo Moncini in the Tresor Attempto Racing Audi. A full course yellow hampered any thoughts of progress towards the end of the race but action did resume with a few minutes remaining on the clock. Klingmann retained fourth place to the chequered flag with the win falling to Saintéloc Racing from the Garage 59 team and Tresor Attempto Racing.
