Manchester United star Amad has taken to social media to apologise following an incident on the club's post-season tour of Malaysia.
A photo of Amad appearing to put his middle finger up to a fan went viral earlier this week following United's 1-0 defeat against the ASEAN All-Star team in Kuala Lumpur.
Amidst speculation online regarding what had prompted the incident, the Ivorian later revealed that the had received personal abuse relating to his mother.
'I have respect for people but not for the one who insults my mom…' he said on X on Thursday.
'I shouldn't have reacted like that but I don't regret what I did. We had a great time in Malaysia with good people.'
However, the 22-year-old later apologised to those who have been disappointed by his actions, insisting his gesture was aimed solely at the individual who had insulted him.
On X Amad clarified that his intention was not to 'hurt people' and insisted the post-season excursion has been an 'incredible trip'
He wrote: 'Again, my intention was not to hurt people, I responded to an unhealthy individual.
'I apologize to those who feel concerned. Malaysia was an incredible trip for us.'
United's tour came to an end on Friday after the club managed to salvage an unconvincing comeback victory over Hong Kong.
The club found themselves on the back foot after 19 minutes when Juninho opened the scoring for the hosts.
Amad was introduced at the break and United finally found their way into the game during the second half before securing a 3-1 win.
The appearance marked the culmination of what has been a breakthrough campaign for Amad at United.
After initially joining the club in 2020 during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's reign at Old Trafford, the winger was forced to wait for his chance in the first-team.
A successful loan spell at Sunderland demonstrated his potential on the pitch, but Amad was forced to wait until late last year to finally make his mark at United.

Man Utd plot second incoming Premier League transfer as Garnacho wants £50m deal

The 27-year-old netted four goals and assisted five more under Unai Emery but does not appear to want to remain in the Midlands, despite Villa holding a £40m option to sign him permanently. Rashford desires a move that will see him play in the Champions League, with Barcelona said to be his preference. According to German outlet Bild, the club do not want to pay the £40m fee associated with him however. ‌ Barca boss Hansi Flick is interested in making the deal happen but the side are only keen on a loan move. That will come as significant blow to United, who are in a difficult financial position and want to bring in cash if they are to spend this summer. Garnacho preference Alejandro Garnacho is targeting a £50m move to Chelsea this summer, despite interest from Napoli, reports claim. The 20-year-old is another who looks certain for an Old Trafford exit having been told to find a new club. Garnacho was benched by Amorim for the team's 1-0 Europa League final defeat to Tottenham before being left out for the final day of the season clash against Aston Villa. His manager said to have told him "you better pray that you can find a club to sign you". ‌ Reports claim the Argentina international wants stay in England to establish himself as a world star. Chelsea were interested in signing the winger in January, with his representatives pictured at Stamford Bridge. Surprise move After signing Matheus Cunha, United could look to make another Premier League addition according to reports. The Red Devils are eyeing a deal for Brighton ace Pervis Estupinan. ‌ The club are said to have made an enquiry over the defender, who would be seen as bringing greater physicality into the side. Though United only signed Patrick Dorgu in January and still have Luke Shaw at their disposal. Amorim does not believe his squad to be fast enough or physical enough currently however.

Peter Crouch begs fans not to share hilarious clip of former England star attempting to play golf

Peter Crouch has jokingly called for fans to stop sharing a video of a rather embarrassing moment that occurred on the golf course. A group of men were enjoying a drink by the hole as Crouch lined up his tee shot. They didn't seem to know who it was but came to the conclusion that it was definitely a footballer. And any suggestion that he was a golfer vanished as the former England star proceeded to flop the ball straight into the trees on the left. The men broke into laughter after watching the mis-hit and unfortunately for Crouch one of them got it all on camera. The clip quickly did the rounds on social media, garnering over three million views on X. Can everyone not share this pls Kind regards — Peter Crouch (@petercrouch) June 1, 2025 . And Crouch then shared it himself, writing: 'can everyone not share this pls. Kind regards.' His tongue-in-cheek post racked up 55,000 likes in 24 hours as fans showed their appreciation for his good humour. The ex-striker has a reputation for being one of the game's great characters and he has continued to entertain since hanging up his boots.
