Rockett digs Waterford out of a hole after early Banner blitz
Seventeen years after making her inter-county debut, Niamh Rockett scored 1-11 and kept her dream of completing what would be a sensational premier junior, intermediate and senior grand slam alive as Waterford survived the most searching of tests before stretching away to a ten-point victory in a pulsating and hugely entertaining Glen Dimplex All-Ireland senior camogie quarter-final.
At the other end of the field, Vikki Falconer marked her return to Croke Park two years after buckling in the early minutes of the All-Ireland final with what proved to be a cruciate knee ligament injury, by providing an imperious display of defending.
The former All-Star was given a bit of trouble early on by Róisín Begley, but by the second half, she was emerging from every ruck going with the sliotar, carrying, finding a teammate, returning to base camp. Rinse. Repeat.
Don't be fooled by the margin though. This was a deficit that was harsh on Clare, even if Waterford could have had three or four goals in the first half.
That they didn't was down to the goalkeeping of Rachael Daly, who dived full length to save a Beth Carton penalty and made another stop from the industrious Máiréad O'Brien, while Abby Flynn was denied by some last ditch defending by Susan Daly and Clare Hehir, while Sinéad O'Keeffe threw her body on the line to deny Flynn another chance.
The Dalys were joined in defence by their triplet sibling Lynda, who recovered from a first-half injury to play well, while their younger sister Jennifer was a constant threat with her pace, scoring two points.
Meanwhile, Áine O'Loughlin pounced for two goals in the first half, the first an absolute piledriver after Begley found her peeling off Kate Lynch.
That was in the 15th minute and eight minutes later, she did really well to grab a low ball, turn and boot a shot in off the far post.
Their workrate had Waterford struggling to get out of defence, to set their patterns going and make any real inroads up top. Annie Fitzgerald and Flynn were largely clinical when the opportunity presented itself, while Flynn and Rockett combined well for a couple of scores.
It looked hard work for the Déise outfit but a turnover deep in injury time created a two-on-one and when Flynn fed Fitzgerald, the Gaill Tír dynamo made no mistake from close range to give Waterford a 1-11 to 2-5 lead.
By now, Mick Boland and his brains trust had moved Keeley Corbett Barry back on O'Loughlin, with Lynch sitting in front.
Clare went for a Twin Towers approach when bringing on Ellen Casey at the end of the third quarter and the Newmarket-on-Fergus giant had a shot from a free well saved by Brianna O'Regan.
O'Loughlin continued to cause trouble but by hook, and maybe sometimes by crook, Waterford kept the Banner skipper at bay.
The Waterford captain, Lorraine Bray began to get more into the game with a couple of points at the end of trademark runs were notable, though with a three-on-two overlap, she probably should have made a goal chance out of one of those.
Clare Hehir lofted three might frees over the bar from distance for the saffron and blue and it was still all to play for when Rockett exchanged passes with sub Maggie Gostl to goal in the 55th minute. The St Anne's sharpshooter had to stretch but just beat the advancing Rachael Daly to flick to the net and put eight between them.
Points from Rockett and Fitzgerald, who blazed just over after somehow working her way in from the endline, made it a double-figure margin, which will have fooled nobody, but for Waterford the key was ensuring a third semi-final appearance in four seasons.

Watch: Roy Keane gets asked would he 'cuddle' Micah Richards
Roy Keane is back on punditry duty for the new Premier League season and is bringing his usual deadpan humour with him. The ex-Ireland icon never fails to crack fans up when he appears on Sky Sports and it was no different for Sunday's showings of Chelsea vs Crystal Palace and Manchester United vs Arsenal. For someone who is usually so serious, Keane always finds a way to provide a laugh in the punditry box. Roy Keane was up to his usual tricks on Sky Sports Super Sunday. Pic: The Overlap/ YouTube After the final-whistle in Chelsea's 0-0 draw at home to Palace, there was a notable interaction between the away side's captain and manager. Marc Guehi was seen ignoring his boss Oliver Glasner's calls for a conversation on the pitch, which has further flamed rumours that the defender could be leaving the club amid links to Liverpool. Glasner looked a bit fed up with Guehi as he walked away and also seemed to point out the snubbing to Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta as he was clapping the away supporters. Micah Richards is no stranger to winding up his fellow pundit. Pic: Visionhaus Mateta was seen looking back at Guehi and remarking something to Glasner who just shrugged his shoulders. However, Keane was quick to jump to the Palace captain's defence and instead took aim at Glasner – and Premier League managers in general – for coming onto the pitch at the end of a game. Keane said: 'Where has this all happened in the last year or two when manager's come onto the pitch and shake hands with everybody and the opposition players? The Corkman usually cracks a few jokes while on punditry duty. Pic:'When a player's just had a tough match, he's physically exhausted, then the manager's like 'come and have a little chit-chat', knowing that there's talk about him leaving. 'As a player you don't want to get involved in that as well and that manager's come up and you're just like 'what's up with ya? Let's just get down the tunnel, if you want to have a chat we'll do it inside'. 'But this idea of managers all wanting to do something on the pitch, that's come in the last few years. 🗣️ "It's like the new garlic bread" Roy Keane's thoughts on that Oliver Glasner and Marc Guehi interaction at full-time of Chelsea vs Crystal Palace…

Irish rugby's power couples have a ball at Oasis concert
Oasis have brought hundreds of thousands of fans out in force this weekend for their first Irish show in 16 years. Among the waves of people descending onto Croke Park on Saturday night were a few of Ireland's top rugby stars with their other halves. Tickets to see the Gallagher brothers seemed to be like gold dust but it's no real surprise that these lads were quick to get their hands on some. Rob Kearney with his wife Jess Redden at Oasis. Pic: Instagram Brian O'Driscoll and his wife Amy Huberman were out in force as they intended the concert alongside Rob Kearney and his wife Jess Redden. The four were seated beside each other in Croke Park and O'Driscoll made sure to catch Kearney mid-groove as they enjoyed the historic night. He shared a snap of his former teammate on his Instagram story and captioned it: 'Definitely Maybe was still s****ng his pants when this album came out!' O'Driscoll caught Kearney enjoying himself. Pic: Instagram Kearney's wife also shared a couple of photos of the couple at the gig and made sure to let those going on Sunday know that they were in for a treat. She said: 'What a night. If you're going tonight, have the best time – iconic show!' Elsewhere in the packed-out stadium, Johnny Sexton was reuniting with a former rugby rival. Amy Huberman was all set for the gig. Pic: Instagram The ex-Ireland star attended the concert with England international Owen Farrell and each of their wives, Laura Sexton and Georgie Farrell. The four of them posed for a photo which Georgie shared to her Instagram story and Sexton re-shared to his. Sexton and Farrell would have had heated battles on the rugby pitch for many years but their differences were put to the side on Saturday night for the special concert. Sexton and Farrell reunited at the concert. Pic: Instagram Another former Ireland star also managed to make his way into GAA HQ to see Liam and Noel. Cian Healy shared a snap of him and his wife Laura Smith in yet another section of the stadium. The couple posed for a selfie as Oasis lit up Ireland for the first time since 2009. Cian Healy was elsewhere in the crowd. Pic: Instagram It'll be left to wonder however if any of the Ireland stars had any trouble with their tickets, as some fans reported issues on Saturday night, A number of standing section ticketholders have said they were initially let in to Croke Park but weren't given a wristband, which are commonly used by stadiums to identify who is entitled to access into standing areas. They were reportedly then later stopped from entering the standing area because of not having a wristband. This caused delays for fans trying to get onto the pitch and secure a spot to watch the iconic duo. Rob and Jess seemed to have a great night. Pic: Instagram Video footage from the concert shows a large number of fans still streaming onto the pitch after Oasis had already started performing. There were further issues at the other end of the gig on Saturday night, with planned pyrotechnics for the finale not going off 'due to a technical issue'. However, it won't be much of a concern for the tens of thousands of fans descending upon Croke Park for the second sold-out show as fans ultimately reported an unbelievable experience on night one.

Irish player tracker: Troy Parrott goal streak continues in AZ draw, while Josh Cullen a bright spark for Burnley
Most Irish players in the European leagues are now back in action as the Premier League returned over the weekend. It proved to be a mixed bag of disappointment and enthusiasm - with some yet to impress but also plenty of positives, especially in the goalscoring department. Troy Parrott is beginning to look like the striker Ireland have been crying out for. He has scored nine goals already this season. Parrott netted at the weekend in AZ Alkmaar's 2-2 draw with Volendam, after scoring the winner in Europe a few days earlier to push his side into the Conference League playoff round. Confidence is flowing through him and for once, we're talking about an Irish forward in red-hot form rather than one trying to find minutes off the bench. Parrott's form is the standout storyline so far and if he can carry this purple patch into September, Ireland could suddenly have a match-winner capable of changing games at international level. It's not often we have been able to say that in recent years. Closer to home, the Premier League returned and it was a mixed weekend for the Irish contingent. Keith Andrews took charge of his first competitive game as Brentford manager. Nathan Collins wore the armband as club captain and Caoimhín Kelleher shook off injury worries to make his debut. But what should have been a landmark day quickly turned sour as Brentford were beaten 3-1 by Nottingham Forest. It was the kind of bruising start that Andrews will want to park as quickly as possible. READ MORE Elsewhere, Josh Cullen was one of the few bright sparks. Back in the Premier League as Burnley captain, he put in a tireless midfield shift against Tottenham. Burnley may have lost 3-0, but Cullen's display showed he belongs at this level. Matt Doherty also featured in the English top flight, playing the full 90 minutes in Wolves' 4-0 defeat to Manchester City. Alan Browne was absent from Sunderland's squad for their match against West Ham, raising doubts about his role this season. Andrew Moran's omission from Brighton's matchday panel against Fulham points toward a loan - or even a permanent move - before the transfer window closes. For Irish wingers, the picture remains frustrating. Kasey McAteer was restricted to a couple of minutes, Rocco Vata was unused on his return from injury at Watford and Festy Ebosele has managed only nine minutes across four Conference League qualifiers for İstanbul Başakşehir. There was, however, a spark of encouragement from Mikey Johnston. The winger came off the bench for West Brom and turned match-winner, providing two assists in a 3-2 win over Wrexham. James McClean also chipped in with an assist for Wrexham, while Jayson Molumby played 90 minutes for the Baggies. Middlesbrough manager Rob Edwards celebrates his team's win with Finn Azaz, who set up the third goal against Millwall. Photograph: Flynn Duggan/PA Wire The biggest boost of the weekend came from Finn Azaz . Back fit after injury, Ireland's number 10 returned for Middlesbrough in their 3-0 win over Millwall, immediately setting up Boro's third goal with a deft assist. His creativity and goal threat could be pivotal for the national side ahead of the September internationals. Aidomo Emakhu also featured in the game, coming on for Millwall in the closing stages. In League One, David McGoldrick reminded everyone of his class with another goal for Barnsley in their 1-1 draw with Bolton, set up by skipper Luca Connell. At Leyton Orient, Aaron Connolly scored his first goal for the club in a comeback 2-2 draw with Stockport, assisted by Ollie O'Neill. O'Neill then completed the turnaround himself with a dramatic 93rd-minute equaliser. Corey O'Keeffe also picked up an assist for Stockport. Lincoln's 3-2 win over Plymouth was full of Irish action - James Collins bagged a brace for the Imps, while Owen Oseni continued his blistering start by netting his third goal of the week, fresh off a midweek EFL Cup double. Further afield, the Irish continue to make their mark. Matthew Moore was on target for Hoffenheim's under-19s in the DFB-Pokal, Joe Hodge played 87 minutes for CD Tondela in their 1-0 loss to Famalicão, and Jaden Umeh made his Benfica under-23 debut at just 17 years old. Andrew Omobamidele, meanwhile, was suspended for Strasbourg's opener, serving a ban from the tail end of last season. Player of the Week - Owen Oseni (Plymouth Argyle) Owen Oseni's first goal for Plymouth Argyle on his full debut!🇮🇪 Oseni scored a second half brace last night as Plymouth came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 with a massive helping hand from Oseni. — Rep of Ireland Player Tracker (@reptracker) Owen Oseni enjoyed a stellar week for Plymouth, earning Player of the Week honours. On his full debut in the EFL Cup, he scored twice to inspire a remarkable comeback against QPR from 2-0 down, helping Plymouth to a 3-2 victory. He continued his fine form at the weekend, netting a superb goal in their 3-2 defeat to Lincoln. Despite the loss, Oseni's performances highlighted an excellent start to life on the south coast. Goal of the Week - Tyler Goodrham (Oxford United) Oxford United's Tyler Goodrham scores an absolute stunner 🔥 — Sky Sports Football (@SkyFootball) Tyler Goodrham claimed Goal of the Week after an absolute thunderbolt for Oxford United in the EFL Cup against Colchester on Tuesday. Picking up the ball 25 yards out, Goodrham unleashed a fierce strike into the top far corner, sending Oxford through to the next round. Stat of the Week - Josh Cullen (Burnley) - 5 Chances Created Burnley's Josh Cullen (left) steals a march on Tottenham Hotspur's Pape Matar Sarr during Saturday's Premier League match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Photograph: Adam Davy/PA Wire Despite Burnley's defeat, Josh Cullen enjoyed a strong return to the Premier League at the heart of the midfield. The captain created the most chances in the game (5), covered the most distance (11km), and completed three interceptions alongside four recoveries. Cullen's all-round display highlighted his influence and work rate, and if he can maintain this form he will continue to be a key figure for Burnley this season.
