Pulp score first UK number one album in 27 years with More
More, which was released last Friday, is the band's first studio album since 2001's We Love Life.
The album is also named the biggest record of the week on wax, topping the Official Vinyl Albums Chart.
The band are playing a number of gigs throughout the summer, including sets at Montreux Jazz Festival in July and Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival in August.
The veteran rockers have a gap in their schedule between June 21 and July 10, which has fuelled speculation that they could be among the secret acts currently listed as 'TBA' in the line-up for Glastonbury Festival, which is taking place later this month.
Elsewhere in the albums chart the eponymous debut album of US pop star and TikTok sensation Addison Rae has landed at number two.
The record contains the hit singles Diet Pepsi, Headphones On, and Fame Is A Gun, which have all made it into the top 40 of the singles chart.
Another new entry is Lotus by British rapper Little Simz, which has landed at number three, a personal best for the London-born music star whose Mercury Prize-winning album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert peaked at number four back in 2021.
Lotus also debuts at number one on the Official Record Store Chart, the most popular LP of the week in UK independent record shops.
Rounding out the top five is Sabrina Carpenter's Short N' Sweet at number four and Ed Sheeran's Mathematics Tour Collection compilation album at five.
Over in the singles chart, US popstar Carpenter has knocked Alex Warren from the top spot with her new single Manchild.
The 26-year-old recently announced the release of a new studio album, Man's Best Friend, which will be released in August.
The Official Charts Company said Carpenter has banked the most consecutive weeks in the albums chart top five out of any other female solo artist.
The rest of the top five sees Warren at number two with Ordinary, Love Me Not by Ravyn Lenae at number three, Chappell Roan's Pink Pony Club at number four, and Sombr's Undressed at number five.

The dating programme proved a massive hit with series one earning a BAFTA nomination, and now husband and wife presenting team Matt and Emma Willis are back on screens for another outing. But there's naturally a massive twist. The contestants will be 'dating' in their individual isolated pods, prevented from seeing each other. Despite not seeing their potential partner's physical appearance, it's only after getting engaged that they'll come face to face before moving in together to organise their wedding and encounter the other couples. This year's lineup features a whole range of fresh keen hopefuls, including a professional vocalist plus a Monica from Friends lookalike. One participant who's prepared for romance is Northern Ireland-based Billy, reports Belfast Live. Who is Billy Jervis Jr? Billy, aged 35 from Bangor in Northern Ireland, works as an Army Physical Trainer. He's remained single following his divorce five years back and considers today's dating scene a "complete minefield". Regarding his Love Is Blind journey, Netflix reveals: "He often feels like the third wheel as most of his friends are settled down and as a result, doesn't socialise as much as he used to. Divorce hasn't put Billy off marriage and he's keen to be a husband again and start a family with his life partner." According to his Instagram, Billy works as an instructor for the Royal Army Physical Training Corps, which is tasked with developing and maintaining physical fitness throughout the Army, ensuring troops are properly prepared for military operations. Army career Billy frequently shares glimpses of his life journey on his Instagram account and naturally maintains excellent physical condition due to his profession, regularly posting his training routines. One example is the Murph workout, where Billy revealed he became "emotional" completing it for the first time, adding: "Especially doing it on a baking running track in 25 degrees heat." The Murph workout involves a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and then another 1-mile run. In some posts he also displays highlights from his army training. Sharing a handful of photographs in one post, he wrote: "Thank you Matty for an epic hand over take over week with the 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment." According to the Royal Army Physical Training Corps, Billy's role would encompass "a range of activities", including physical training, exercise rehabilitation, adventurous training and sports coaching and officiating. The website adds: "Royal Army Physical Training Corps Instructors (RAPTCIs) generally serve as detached personnel within most units across the Army. They are tasked by their Commanding Officers with the responsibility of maintaining the physical fitness of their soldiers in preparation for Military Operations. "This requires a high level of knowledge and experience in order to design and implement a physical training regime which complements the Unit role and training cycle." Prior to this role, Billy served with the Royal Signals, having penned on Instagram during Armed Forces Day 2023: "Proud to serve my country with the Royal Signals and now the Royal Army Physical Training Corps. Water levels are so low a theatre's boat has had to be winched from a river
A roving theatre group touring the UK by road and waterway have been forced to crane their vintage boat onto dry land for the first time in almost 50 years due to drought. Mikron were unable to continue travelling on the River Thames into Oxfordshire due to low water levels in a year of record-breaking weather that has brought four heatwaves to date. Instead, the intrepid troupe had to hire a crane to lift the narrowboat, Tyseley, out of the river at Reading and transport it to a marina in Calcutt, Warwickshire, three hours away by road. It's the first time since 1976 that Mikron — who play a marathon roster of outdoor shows every summer — have had to lift their temporary home out of the water network due to dry conditions. The interruption came last week as the canal network felt the strain after the earlier heatwaves and one of the driest springs on record. 'It's been nearly five decades since we had to crane the boat out due to drought,' Mikron producer Pete Toon said. 'There's just very little water in the canal network. 'The Canal & River Trust have been brilliant with us as an organisation, but you can't get through if you can't get through. 'In the south, there's been no significant rain for months and we are being told it won't be hours or days to top up these reservoirs, but months. 'We are probably looking at a network that isn't going to be back up on its feet until next spring. And if we have a dry winter, we'll be starting in a worse place than we were this year. 'It's extreme, we've never known anything like this.' Playing 139 shows at unusual venues ranging from pubs to allotments, many of which are 'pay what you feel', the Yorkshire-based troupe were hit by a closure of the canal to navigation at Cropredy, near Banbury. Essentially, the low water levels impact reservoirs feeding the Oxford Canal, leading to locks being shut or restricted. After the Tyseley was taken to the marina, the company has continued the last 10 days of what should have been a water-borne tour by road. The team, including the four cast members, hope to resume their journey on the canal system tomorrow morning. 'We could get on the canal, but we just couldn't go anywhere, so we had to go back to Reading to get craned out,' Pete said. 'It's like taking your caravan to Cornwall and not being able to get on the roads into the county once you're nearly there. 'We are praying that there is enough water in the system so we can get back onto the canal network next week and do what we signed up for. 'Hopefully there'll be enough water in the system to get us to at least north of Worcester.' Mikron, a registered charity, told supporters that it was forced to make the 'difficult decision' of craning the boat out at a cost of £3,144. The fuel and incidental costs of travelling by van are also far greater than the relatively inexpensive canal boat. Overall, it's only the fourth time in the theatre group's 53-year history that Tyseley has been craned out of the water. The award-winning company is currently touring a show about the great British seaside and another about Bletchley Park to spaces including allotments, village halls and pubs. 'We are very aware of climate change, as we spend our days in the weather, whether it's cold, raining or hot. 'Another irony is that we have just commissioned another play about water, the ownership and the waste that goes into the network. 'It genuinely looks like if this becomes a pattern, it will change our business model. We won't be able to tour by boat, we'll have to keep going by road.' The Canal & River Trust said the network was 'feeling the strain after one of the driest springs on record and several heatwaves' so far this year. Teams are on the ground carrying out tasks to alleviate the pressures and hydrology experts are planning for a range of scenarios. Matthew Symonds, head of boating & customer service at the charity, said: 'Despite a few heavy downpours recently, we need sustained rain to top up the reservoirs that feed the canals. 'But, as soon as water levels allow, we'll get them back open. 'We know how frustrating navigation restrictions are and we're grateful to boaters for their support and patience. 'It's important to stress that towpaths are still very much open for visitors looking to walk, cycle or simply spend time by the water, as well as plenty of amazing waterside businesses to visit.'
