'BEAUTIFUL SOUL' Tragedy as Scots animal lover dies after falling from horse she'd owned for just a few weeks
TRIBUTES have been paid to a woman who died after falling from a horse she had owned for just a few weeks.
Louise Goudman, 40 suffered a bleed to the brain after the fall while riding horse Bobby on May 2 but tragically passed away in hospital three days later.
Her partner Malcolm Cameron paid tribute to her and said she 'died doing something that she loved'.
He said Bobby would now be looked after by Our Children's Trust, a charity near Carluke, Lanarkshire, which provides holistic therapy for families affected by trauma and grief.
The Glasgow livery where Louise was a client said she had been having 'teething problems' since purchasing the horse and they had been trying to help her.
Butshe sustained a serious head injury after tumbling from Bobby and never regained consciousness.
Mr Cameron launched a fundraising page where to help support the charity with the cost of the horse's upkeep.
He said: "My beautiful partner Louise tragically died on the 5th of May 2025, a week before her 41st birthday, following a horse riding accident a few days earlier.
"She died doing something that she loved. She adored animals and wouldn't have blamed her young horse, even with his flaws, whom she had only known a couple of months.
"We deliberated long and hard what was the best, Louise-friendly thing to do, whilst morally knowing no one can ride Bobby again.
"We don't want anyone to be put through the heartache of having their loved one wrenched from their lives in such an unexpected and sudden way.
"This charity rescues and re-house horses best met our needs and have kindly agreed to look after Bobby."

In a social media post, South Cathkin Farm, based near Rutherglen, said it was 'devastated' at the death of its client, who was described by those who knew her as a 'kind soul and a true animal lover'.
It said: "It is with great sadness that we lost one of our lovely clients, Louise Goudman, who had been livery with us a few years back then recently purchased her new horse Bobby a couple of months ago.
"Louise was having teething issues with Bobby and we were trying our best to iron them out. Unfortunately she took a bad fall on Friday 2 May and never regained consciousness. She sadly passed away on Monday 5 May.
"We are all devastated for Louise's family."
The appeal has so far raised more than £3,000 with dozens of tributes also being left for Louise.
One said: "I had the privilege to work with Louise over the last couple of years and we are all heartbroken over her loss and the impact on her lovely family. Always in our hearts and prayers."
Another wrote: "Thinking of you all at such a difficult time. Louise was a lovely, kind and beautiful person who will be very sadly missed by many."
A third added: "Louise's energy and passion will be deeply missed by so many. Love and strength to all who knew this beautiful soul."

Three family members among Scots honoured in King's Birthday Honours

The trio, from the Isle of Bute, started Calum's Cabin after Calum, who had an inoperable brain tumour, died. An MSP and a couple who set up a charity after their daughter was killed in Afghanistan are also among the Scots recognised in the list. Nationwide's chief executive, who becomes a dame, and the Scottish boss of Greggs are also among those honoured, along with a historian who was involved in creating the Great Tapestry of Scotland, and the manager of a poppy factory. Labour MSP Pam Duncan-Glancy is made an MBE for political and public service. Read More: King's Birthday Honours List 2025: Scottish list in full She has been MSP for the Glasgow region since May 2021 and is the first permanent wheelchair user elected to the Scottish Parliament. She said: 'I'm really, really proud to have been given this honour for the work that I've done in the community and for disability rights. 'It's a real honour to do this. When I got elected as an MSP, I said I was a wee working class woman in a wheelchair. 'To think that I could be a wee working class woman in a wheelchair who's also got an MBE, I just thought that was pretty special.' John and Lorna Norgrove are both made OBEs for services to women and children abroad and in Scotland. They set up the Linda Norgrove Foundation in memory of their daughter Linda, an aid worker who was kidnapped by the Taliban and died in an attempted rescue by US forces in October 2010. The foundation funds education, health and childcare for women and children in Afghanistan. Recently it worked with both the Scottish and UK governments to bring 19 female Afghan medical students to Scotland to train to continue their degrees as they were barred by the Taliban from completing their university studies in Afghanistan. The couple said: 'We are honoured to have received this recognition of the work being carried out by the Linda Norgrove Foundation. 'We are a tiny charity, mostly volunteers, who all share the same goal – to make life better for women and children in Afghanistan. Pam Duncan-Glancy (Image: Newsquest) 'We dedicate this honour to all those brave women who remain in Afghanistan, or who have made the decision to leave their homes and families behind to move abroad and continue their studies and careers. Their struggle continues and they are the real heroes of this story.' Debbie Crosbie, the only woman to lead a 'big six' bank in the UK, has been given a damehood for her services to financial services. Dame Debbie told the PA news agency: 'I try to encourage people to think beyond, 'I'm a female', but when it comes to this (honour), I am actually hugely proud. 'I grew up in Glasgow, I wasn't different to any of my peer group, so to be given the opportunity to lead… I've had a massively rewarding career. 'As a woman, I hope that sends a message of opportunity and hope, not just to young people.' Roisin Currie, a fellow Glaswegian and alumnus of Strathclyde University, has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for her services to hospitality. Ms Currie became the chief executive of Greggs in 2022 having joined the Newcastle-based bakery chain, popular for its sausage rolls, 12 years prior. Historian Alistair Moffat, 74, who founded the Borders Book Festival, is also recognised in the list. He becomes an MBE in recognition of services to literature and culture. Mr Moffat founded the Borders Book Festival 22 years ago and was also a key figure in the creation of The Great Tapestry of Scotland in 2010. News of the MBE comes as this year's book festival takes place. Mr Moffat said: 'It is just a monumental bunch of flowers to get. 'One of the reasons was for starting the Borders Book Festival, which starts on Thursday. 'The announcement will be in the middle of the book festival, which started 22 years ago. 'It has a big, beneficial impact on the region, and it brings in lots of visitors. The MBE has been very well-timed.' Others recognised include Charles Pelling, manager of the Lady Haig Poppy Factory in Edinburgh. He becomes an OBE in recognition of services to veterans. A team of disabled ex-servicemen and women make all items for the Scottish Poppy Appeal at the factory, which was founded in 1926 by Lady Haig. A social media influencer known as the Hillwalking Hijabi has also been recognised. Zahrah Mahmood, 34, president of Ramblers Scotland, is made an MBE for her contribution to voluntary service in Scotland. She said: 'If I'm being honest I'm still taking it in. I'm grateful, and I hope I can continue using whatever platform this brings to keep doing the work which matters to me and so many others.' Others recognised include recently retired Police Scotland Assistant Chief Constable Gary Ritchie, who has been awarded the King's Police Medal (KPM), while the force's chief officer of human resources, Nicky Page, becomes an MBE for services to policing, equality and health. Scottish Secretary Ian Murray said: 'The honours list showcases the remarkable achievements of individuals across Scotland who have gone above and beyond in their respective fields. 'Their service to our communities represents the spirit of dedication and excellence that makes Scotland proud.'

Scotland to be hit with rare weather phenomenon ‘thunder fever' – and it's bad news for hay fever sufferers

Airborne allergens expert Max Wiseberg says this weekend's weather could be particularly bad for those with hay fever HIGH ALERT Scotland to be hit with rare weather phenomenon 'thunder fever' – and it's bad news for hay fever sufferers Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) SCOTS are bracing for thunderstorms this weekend but hayfever sufferers are in for a tough time as experts warn of a phenomenon called "thunder fever". Thunder, lightning and heavy downpours are forecast for tomorrow - with a yellow weather warning covering most of the country from midnight tonight until 6pm on Saturday. Scientists believe that during a thunderstorm, pollen grains absorb moisture and split into smaller fragments and create a "super pollen". Airborne allergens expert Max Wiseberg says this weekend's weather could be particularly bad for those with hay fever. He said: "Warm, sunny weather in June means higher pollen counts. Which is what we are seeing this week, with high pollen counts currently in south and central Scotland. "So there is more pollen in the air for hay fever sufferers to deal with. Everyone can tolerate a certain amount of pollen, known as the 'trigger level', but once this is reached symptoms start to occur. "So more pollen means that more people's hay fever will be triggered and symptoms will be worse for some.' While rain usually clears the air of pollen, thunderstorms can ironically exacerbate hay fever. Wiseberg says that no one is completely sure of how "thunder fever" works, but research suggests that the humidity breaks pollen into more allergenic particles. Storms can also bring pollen down from higher altitudes and whip up ground-level pollen. Wiseberg said: "There has been quite a lot of research and according to a report in The European Respiratory review, humidity breaks pollen grains into smaller allergenic particles. So one pollen grain becomes two, which instantly raises the pollen count. But these new pollen grains also turn into a kind of 'super pollen' which appears to be more allergenic than normal pollen, causing more severe reactions in sufferers. hayfever recommendations from a boots pharmacist 'Storms cause great movements in the air, both bringing pollen grains down which might have otherwise risen above head height out of harm's way, and whipping up pollen grains near the ground. "And don't think that living in the city will spare you from this either; the thunderstorm can pick all this pollen up and carry it for miles before dumping it at head height in the city." What is the best way of combating this? Wiseberg recommends preventing pollen entry by creating a physical barrier with an organic barrier. He said: "One of the best ways of dealing with the pollen is to prevent it getting into your body in the first place. "Creating a physical barrier to the pollen with an organic allergen barrier balm such as HayMax, around the nostrils and bones of the eyes, helps keep pollen out. "HayMax has been proven to trap over a third of pollen particles before they enter the body." Don't double up the dose of your antihistamines Wiseberg advises against taking two antihistaminesor two steroid nassal sprays together. He said: "There are rules: never take two antihistamines together, never take two steroid nasal sprays together, and consult your pharmacist or doctor about it if you are already taking another medication. "I suggest that your ideal Hay Fever First Aid Kit will consist of one or more natural products such as an allergen barrier balm to help keep the pollen out, only one antihistamine to help deal with symptoms, only one steroid nasal spray to help clear nasal symptoms and eye drops, to help reduce itchy, watering, swollen eyes.'
