A woman has sent a legal notice to Maharashtra minister Sanjay Shirsat's son Siddhant, accusing him of mental and physical harassment following their marriage three years ago.
After several Marathi TV channels reported the news of her claims, the woman on Tuesday told reporters that the issue should not be politicised. 'This is my personal matter. I want to close it and not take it further,' the woman said. 'I am rescinding the notice,' she added.

The woman, through her lawyer Chandrakant Thombare, sent the legal notice to Siddhant, threatening him of action under laws pertaining to atrocities against women.

The notice claimed that Siddhant threatened to commit suicide if she spoke to anyone about their relationship as it will harm his family's reputation. The woman had filed a police complaint, but no action was taken due to pressure from the minister, who belongs to the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, the notice said.
Shiv Sena (UBT) deputy leader Sushma Andhare said the woman has 'backtracked under pressure' and should be provided security.
Social activist Anjali Damania said Sanjay Shirsat and Shinde should make their views public on the woman's claims. There has been no comment yet from Siddhant on the woman's allegations.

INDIA bloc writes to PM demanding special session of Parliament
New Delhi, June 3 (UNI) Leaders of the INDI Alliance met here on Tuesday to press for a special session of Parliament to discuss a 'sequence of events' — from the 'Pahalgam incident to Operation Sindoor and the ceasefire'. Leaders from 16 Opposition parties attended the meeting, including senior Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Deepender Singh Hooda, Trinamool Congress leader Derek O Brien, Ramgopal Yadav of the Samajwadi Party and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut. Later briefing the media, DereK O Brien said the 16 parties have written a letter to the Prime Minister seeking a special session of Parliament. 'The letter basically talks about Poonch, Uri, Rajouri and having a free discussion in the Parliament,' the TMC leader said. He further added, 'The government is responsible to Parliament, Parliament is responsible to the people so it natural for all these parties, since the government is answerable to Parliament, that is why the session to the Parliament is responsible to the people'. On Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) not being a party of the meeting, the TMC leader said, 'Our understanding is that the AAP is writing directly to the PM tomorrow'. Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav said that there are several issues which are "worrisome". Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav said, "On the diplomatic front, the Prime Minister has been visiting numerous countries and meeting many leaders over the past several years. However, his so-called friend, Mr Trump, announced the ceasefire, which is a matter of concern." He further added, "India, being the world's largest democracy, must not appear to be forced into taking such actions. This warrants a discussion in Parliament, and we are demanding a special session to address it." Deepender Singh Hooda said that a special session of Parliament must be called so that from Pahalgam to Operation Sindoor to America's announcement of the ceasefire could be discussed. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut stated, "The letter sent to the Prime Minister is not an ordinary one. We represent the main Opposition and are the voice of the people. Considering the recent development, a special session of Parliament should be convened. It will uphold the country's dignity and ensure transparency for the public." Raut further questioned, "If a ceasefire can be declared at the behest of President Trump, then why can't a special session of Parliament be called at the request of the Opposition? Do we need to approach President Trump for that as well?" UNI RBE GNK

'I would absolutely do impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump if elected ranking member': Jasmine Crockett
Jasmine Crockett US representative Jasmine Crockett, D-Dallas, on Monday, said that she would "absolutely" do the inquiry in the potential impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump if elected to a high-ranking. Crockett seeks to become the leading Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, the primary investigative committee in the lower chamber. When asked about the possibility of pursuing impeachment against Trump, Crockett replied, "I would absolutely. At least do an inquiry. Absolutely. I mean, I think that there's more than enough to inquire about. You know, we know. Well, we don't know." "Such as this $400 million plane from the Qataris and whether or not that's a violation of the emoluments clause of the Constitution. I think that we need to dig into all this crypto nonsense that he's got going on. I think we need to dig into the fact that it looks like he's giving out pardons for play." She said while having a conversation on Wafaa's ' Inside Texas Politics.' Drawing from her background as a public defender and civil rights attorney, Representative Crockett asserts that her trial lawyer experience qualifies her as the ideal candidate, highlighting her expertise in case development and defence. "Once we get to the majority, which I'm hoping and praying we get to, next cycle, that allows me to start to open up and do the things that would look like an impeachment," the Democrat told on Inside Texas Politics. "Now, whether or not we would put it to a vote, you know, he's been impeached twice, couldn't get convicted. There's a lot of things to consider about whether or not to go forward." Regarding the recent GOP budget bill that passed the U.S. House by a single vote, Crockett expressed strong opposition, citing its impact on Texas' 30th Congressional District. She indicated the legislation would remove healthcare access from 14 million Americans, including 130,000 individuals losing Medicaid coverage in her district. Additionally, Crockett notes the bill would affect food security for three million Americans, with 115,000 of her constituents who depend on SNAP facing potential impacts. During her district visit coinciding with our interview, Crockett engaged with constituents about the bill. "The number one question I had is do people understand why this bill is bad and why there is nothing beautiful in it," Crockett said. "And I can tell you that Texas 30, God bless 'em because they listen to real news, and they absolutely understand that these cuts are devastating and there is no good reason for the cuts."

CM Fadnavis pays tribute to Gopinath Munde on his 11th death anniversary
Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday paid a tribute to the veteran BJP leader and former union minister Gopinath Munde on his 11th death anniversary. In his post on X, he said, "Humble tributes to the people's leader, a statesman who dedicated his political life to the cause of social welfare, our guide and inspiration, Gopinathrao Ji Munde on his Smruti Din." "I pay tribute to a leader who strived for the rights and interests of the downtrodden and affected people, fought for the rights of Bahujan Samaj and Other Backward Classes, forced the then government to announce a farm loan waiver after organising statewide morcha, relentlessly fought to get relief to the Godavari flood-affected people from Marathwada, took out Sangharsh Yatra to flag off the criminalisation of politics in Maharashtra,' said the Chief Minister, uploading a video in his post. The state unit chief and Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule also paid tribute to Munde. The state BJP in its post on X said, "Tribute to a senior party leader, guide and an inspiration for many workers." Munde was credited with spreading the BJP's wings across Maharashtra and changing its image of a party dominated by the upper class and traders. It was Munde, who was picked up by the veteran BJP leader late Vasantrao Bhagwat, who travelled across Maharashtra in 1980s, that helped the party tremendously increase its presence in the state. Munde carved his place in the party with his hard work, will and massive grassroots-level support. Munde began his career in state politics by joining the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, and after joining the BJP, he travelled to villages and hamlets for the party's consolidation. Munde and his brother-in-law, Pramod Mahajan, were termed in the party circles as 'Ram-Laxman', who transformed the party's image and made it a force to reckon with, especially during the Congress-dominated politics. Munde started his electoral politics from Beed, where he became a zilla parishad member in 1978. Later, he became a legislator from Renapur constituency, Deputy Chief Minister in the Shiv Sena-BJP government during 1995 and 1999, later MP from Beed constituency and Union Minister. He hogged headlines for confronting former Chief Minister Sharad Pawar and targeting the Congress-led government on "criminalisation" of politics. Munde launched an agitation against the now-infamous Enron power project and announced that, after coming to power, the project would be dumped into the Arabian Sea. After the Shiv Sena-BJP came to power, the first phase of the project was repudiated in May, as announced by the BJP and Shiv Sena alliance during the 1995 Assembly elections. Later, the project was revived in 1996 after renegotiations with the Enron-led Dabhol Power Company. Amid tensions between the BJP and the Shiv Sena, Munde and Mahajan were associated with the "bridge makers" due to their cordial relations with Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray. Munde, who was Rural Development Minister in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led cabinet, died on June 3, 2014, in a car accident in New Delhi.
