Hadra Sufi Troupe to perform in Cairo Opera House on Monday
The Cairo Opera House will organize a Ramadan evening hosted by the al-Hadra Sufi Chanting Troupe on Monday, 9:30 pm at the open theater.
The night guarantees a special spiritual experience embodied by Sufi chants, supplications, and poems.
The Hadra Sufi Chanting Troupe was founded in 2015 with the aim of preserving the spiritual heritage of remembrance and prophetic praises, presenting everything specific to the heritage of Egyptian Sufi ceremonies.
The troupe is made up of a group of chanters and supplicants from various paths of Sufism. Its repertoire includes a large number of poems and verses by Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi, Al-Hallaj, Ibn Al-Farid, and others.
It has presented many shows in various cultural places in Egypt and have gathered a broad audience.

The Lady of Arab Theatre, the legendary veteran Egyptian actress Samiha Ayoub (1932 – 2025) has departed our world, leaving behind a void difficult to fill. 'Her works will remain beacons lighting the path for future generations, and her memory will remain eternal in the hearts of her admirers.' With these words Egypt's Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fouad Hanno, mourned Ms Ayoub who died in her home in the Cairo upscale district of Zamalek on 3 June 2025 at the age of 93. She was a prolific actress who has to her credit the longest artistic career of a female actor in the history of Arab theatre and cinema. Her career spanned over 450 works, including 44 films, 220 TV series, and some 115 radio dramas. Her works varied from the classic to the modern, and from the tragic to the comic, each role played with legendary mastery. Throughout her life, she richly enhanced the cultural and artistic scene in Egypt and the Arab World. 'The late actress,' Mr Hanno read, 'was a dedicated, creative national artist who devoted her life to art and gifted her audience an exceptional journey of creativity and uniqueness.' Mr Hanno offered his sincere condolences to her family, friends, and fans, praying that God grants her His mercy. Samiha Ayoub was born in the middle-class Shubra district of Cairo in 1932 She studied at a Catholic girls' school in Cairo. Her first acting role came when she was only 15; she played Mary Magdalene in the 1938 Egyptian production ++The Life and Passion of the Lord Christ++. Ms Ayoub became a member of the Zaky Tulaimat Theatre Group whose founder Tulaimat became pivotal in her acting career. Tulaimat was an Egyptian actor and director, and famously a pioneer of Egyptian theatre. He founded the School of Theatre and the Institute of Dramatic Arts in Cairo. In 1947, Ms Ayoub played a role in Mohamed Abdel-Gawad's film ++al-Mutasharrida (The Homeless++ which marked an early breakthrough in her career. Encouraged by Tulaimat, Ms Ayoub joined the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in 1949, where he continued to mentor her alongside other renowned Egyptian artists. From 1972 to 1975, Ms Ayoub managed The Modern Theatre, and from 1975 to 1985, she was the director of Egypt's iconic al-Qawmy Theatre (The National Theatre). In 2015, she received the Nile Award in the Arts, and in the same year, the large hall in the National Theater was named after her, in honour of her outstanding acting career and her contributions to the theatrical arts in Egypt. She continued to be active until her final years. Her name drew crowds of spectators to theatres, her acting moved hearts and her strong, warm voice carried faithful expression. In 2021, Ms Ayoub was honoured at the Sharm al-Sheikh Theatre Festival for Youth, and remained honorary president throughout the following years. 'Deep inside me is this very humble person who feels she has not done much. When standing on stage, I find my strength; it is in front of the audience that I am alive; the presence of the audience allows me to create the true character that I portray,' she said during one of the symposiums in 2021. Sherine to Conclude 20th Mawazine Festival
Yara Sameh Egyptian superstar, Sherine Abdel-Wahab will conclude this year's Mawazine Festival. Mawazine is a Moroccan international music festival that began in 2001 and is hosting its 20th edition this year. As one of the largest music festivals in the world, Mawazine attracts more than 2.5 million attendees each year. This year's Mawazine festival is scheduled to be held from June 20 to 28 in Rabat, Morocco. Sherine is set to perform at the festival's stage, Nahda, on June 28. She is set to present several of her popular and latest songs. Born on October 8, 1980, Sherine Sayed Mohamed Abdel Wahab, known professionally as simply Sherine, is a singer, actress and music judge. She was first discovered as a child by her school music teacher, who convinced her mother to take her to the Cairo Opera House to meet veteran musician Selim Sahab. Abdel-Wahab served as a choral member at the Cairo Opera House from the age of nine to twelve and was then given a chance to become a solo singer. She kept performing at the Cairo Opera House while searching for a music producer to launch her music career. At the age of 18, Abdel-Wahab was introduced to director and music producer Nasr Mahrous, who liked her voice and decided to collaborate with her via his 'Free Music' production company, where she met with superstar, Tamer Hosny, who was also a new talent-seeking opportunity. Her first recorded song was released in 2002 as a part of an album that included works of other artists. The album was released, under the title 'Free Mix3: Tamer and Sherine' and was a big hit all across the entire Middle East and North Africa. The poster features both actors in elegant black suits, holding weapons – signaling the film's action and crime elements. In the background, a famous painting of dogs playing poker is prominently displayed, accompanied by the intriguing tagline: 'Not All Dogs Stay Loyal', hinting that betrayal may be part of the plot. '7Dogs' is written by Mohamed al-Dabbah, with the story by al-Sheikh. It is directed by the internationally recognized duo Adel and Bilal, and produced by al-Sheikh.
