Guruvayur (Kerala) Jul 18 (PTI) Authorities at Kerala's renowned Guruvayur Temple have warned devotees about online fraudsters posing as agents for temple darshan and offerings.
Guruvayur Devaswom Chairman Dr V K Vijayan said in a video posted on the temple's official Facebook page that no private agency or WhatsApp group has been authorised to arrange visits or collect payments on behalf of the temple.
The warning came after the Devaswom received a complaint from a devotee who said they were cheated by one such WhatsApp group.
'No agency has been authorised by the Guruvayur Devaswom to arrange darshan or to collect money for offerings," Vijayan said.
He urged devotees to stay alert and not hesitate to report any such incidents to the authorities.

Cyber police arrest two men for financial fraud using fake Parivahan app
Kochi: Kochi city cyber police arrested two men from Varanasi who were involved in a nationwide online fraud through a fake Parivahan application. The accused defrauded several people by sending fake APK files via WhatsApp and convincing them that the application was for paying vehicle fines. Police identified the arrested persons as Uttar Pradesh natives Atul Kumar Singh, 32, and Manish Yadav, 24. According to police, the accused collected vehicle information through a Telegram bot. A 16-year-old relative of Manish Yadav was the mastermind behind creating the fake application. His arrest was not recorded and a notice was issued against his name, police said.
