Two arrested after fatal stabbing of man who ‘tried to break up' fight
Police were called to the scene outside Hounslow Muslim Centre on Hanworth Road, west London, at 2.21pm on Sunday.
Paramedics treated the victim for multiple stab wounds before he was taken to hospital where he later died, the Metropolitan Police said.An investigation was launched into the death and two men, aged 27 and 37, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday.
Both remain in custody for questioning.
The victim, named locally as Dara Sayed Barham, worked two jobs, including one at a restaurant near where the incident took place.
His next of kin are being supported by specialist officers, police said.
Witnesses described him as a 'very good man' who worked at the Menara Lounge, a Middle Eastern restaurant, next to the Muslim Centre.
One said: 'It's so sad, he was only 22 and was trying to be a mediator in a fight that broke out between people outside the restaurant on the street.
'He was trying to break it up but got caught up in the fight.'
Farhan Ali, 31, lives in Hounslow and has been running a phone shop for nine years near where the incident took place.
He said of the victim: 'He was such a good guy, and so hard-working too.
'He was my best customer and would often send people up from the restaurant he worked at to help my business.
'He was only 22 and it's so sad – life is so short.
'I've known him for six years and he is a big part of the community here and an amazing person.'
One friend of the victim said: 'He used to bring me sandwiches from the restaurant, and he'd always stop to chat.
'He has died for nothing. He was taken too soon. Nobody had a bad word to say about Dara.'
The Metropolitan Police said there is nothing to suggest a link between the incident and the Hounslow Muslim Centre.
Superintendent James Rawlinson, from the local neighbourhood policing team, said: 'We are aware of the effect this horrendous incident has had on the local community, and have designated officers on reassurance patrols to answer questions that you may have.
'Residents will continue to see increased police presence whilst this investigation remains ongoing.
'I encourage anyone who has information but may not have contacted police yet to get in touch and assist with this investigation.
'Our thoughts, as always, remain with the family and friends of the victim at this incredibly difficult time.'

He was rushed to the hospital, where he died. The 13-year-old, whose identity has not been publicly revealed, was shot in the back but was able to get to a relative's home for help. The teen was taken to the hospital, and he survived his injuries. Ahead of Schur's sentencing, he addressed the court and apologized for his actions. "I am sorry for the events that occurred that night, for the pain, for the grief and trauma that have followed and for the impact that my case had on so many lives,' per CBS News. At Schur's sentencing, the boys' family members condemned the boys' actions, but said they did not deserve to die. "You know, kids make mistakes, and so, I always teach my kids in my family, like my nephews and nieces, about consequences and repercussions,' one family member said, per CBS News. 'We're not trying to excuse any wrongdoing of Xavier, or wrong they were involved in. The part that's messed up is Orest Shur's car was never stolen." Additionally, prosecutors read the surviving teen's statement in court. "An adult chose to use deadly force against two unarmed teenagers. That is not justice, that is not safety, that is not accountability,' the statement read, per CBS News. 'I survived, but I am not the same. My friend didn't survive at all. And no matter what we did that night, I didn't deserve to be shot, and Xavier didn't deserve to die." District Attorney Mason also issued a statement, calling Schur's actions 'vigilante violence at its worst.' 'Now a young man is dead,' the statement read. Kneecap rapper to appear in court for alleged support of terrorist group
A member of rap group Kneecap is due to appear in court for allegedly supporting a proscribed terror organisation. Stabbing at Arizona High School Leaves 1 Student Dead, Officials Say
A fight between two students at a high school in Arizona on Tuesday morning ended in a stabbing that left one of them dead and the other injured, the authorities said. In a statement, Tom Horne, the state superintendent of public instruction, confirmed the death of a student at Maryvale High School in Phoenix, calling it a 'terrible tragedy.' 'Schools must be safe places,' Mr. Horne said. The school was initially placed on lockdown. Later, Jennifer Zak, a spokeswoman for the Phoenix Police Department, said that there was no longer any threat to students or staff members. The police responded to a call of a stabbing at the school around 11 a.m., the department said in a statement on social media. Officers learned there had been a fight involving two male students, Ms. Zak said. They were taken to a hospital. One of the students died, officials said. The other was expected to survive. It was not immediately clear what had caused the fight or whether the students knew each other. No additional information was available on Tuesday afternoon. Officials from Phoenix Union High School District, which includes Maryvale High School, did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Tuesday. Maryvale High School serves 2,850 students in ninth through 12th grades, according to the school's website. Its specialty programs include R.O.T.C., mariachi, digital photography, creative writing, computer science and guitar.
