Former Golden Meadow Police Chief faces felony charges for malfeasance allegations
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) agents report their help was requested by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office to investigate alleged official misconduct.
Investigation ongoing after teen shot, killed in St. James Parish
Agents discovered Troy Dufrene allegedly tampered with records in a case management system owned by the sheriff's office and shared with the police department.
According to the LBI investigation, Dufrene 'intentionally deleted over 12 years worth of records maintained within the internal case management system.' The records included traffic citations, fuel expenditures, arrest reports, payroll information and more important information.
Agents reported Dufrene allegedly did this after recently losing the police chief election, just before vacating the office.

Dufrene's actions reportedly caused a 'significant disruption' to the police department's operation as officials said they have struggled to retrieve the deleted records.
An arrest warrant was issued and on Wednesday, Aug. 6, Dufrene reportedly surrendered to officers. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Jail on felony charges of:
Injuring public records
Malfeasance in office
Computer tampering
He is being held on a $15,000 bond as the investigation remains ongoing.
It's always disappointing when public servants are accused of breaking the law. They have a responsibility to the people who elected them and to whom they serve. Just because you lost an election doesn't give you the right to delete public records and sabotage your successor.

Terica Pearl, 29, who is the infant's mother, was arrested in connection with her alleged murder at 1:48 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, and is being held at Etowah County Jail without bond, according to arrest records obtained by PEOPLE. Funeral home staff had just returned from an appointment on Saturday when they noticed what initially appeared to be a doll in the hearse, but soon realized it was a baby, WBRC 6 News reported. 'I got a call from one of my employees,' funeral home owner Dantez Robinson told the outlet. 'They were getting ready last night, we went out on a pickup and this morning we get back. He was getting ready to do some grounds work, and we got back to find an infant baby inside one of the hearses.' The Gadsden Police Department said in a statement, "The memory of this child will remain with us, and we will continue to stand for justice in every case, no matter how difficult,' per The Gadsden Times. Bronx River Parkway crashes shut down highway after 2 killed, NYPD says
A section of the Bronx River Parkway was shut down for hours after seven cars crashed on the highway, causing two fatalities, according to New York City police. NYPD said the accident happened in the southbound lanes near East Gun Hill Road in the Bronx just after midnight Monday. All southbound traffic was detoured off the highway at East 233rd Street as police investigated the pile-up. The lanes reopened at around 8:30 a.m. Two men, ages 23 and 21, who were on motorcycles, were ejected in the collision. Both were pronounced dead at the hospital, NYPD said. Police said the initial fatal collision involved four vehicles. A second accident followed involving three vehicles trying to avoid the traffic. Drivers were urged to use the Major Deegan Expressway as an alternate route heading southbound through the Bronx until the parkway reopened.
