Cadillac Optiq EV goes pink for Mary Kay sales stars
Mary Kay has announced that its newest Cadillac "Career Car," as it calls them, is a pink Optiq electric SUV. Now, we don't think the Mary Kay Cadillac is better solely because it's electric — it might actually make the salespeoples' lives harder, if they cover vast territories — but the Optiq is an excellent luxury SUV that happens to be electric. Hey, given that recent Mary Kay cars have included the unloved, largely forgotten XT6 three-row SUV and XT5 two-row SUV, the Optiq's pretty slick.

For those curious, not all Mary Kay Career Cars are Cadillacs. Most of the active fleet (about 3,600 cars) is made up of lesser GM products, namely the Chevrolet Trax and Equinox; only 1,000 of that total are Cadillacs reserved for the top cut of Independent Sales Directors. Everyone else in a Career Car is a lower level, still high-performing director or an Independent Beauty Consultant.

Anyway, back to the Optiq, which has the benefit of good optics — after all, it's a classy small electric SUV. The design of today's Optiq is stylish inside and out, with interesting interior materials, sharp digital displays, and a surprisingly roomy layout given its relatively modest price tag among similarly luxurious SUVs, EV or not. Of course, Mary Kay has a corporate angle here about sustainability and environmental friendliness that it's hoping to project through the use of an electric Cadillac for the pinnacle of its Career Car program, and now you know that.
With a range of 302 miles (per the EPA), the Optiq should have more than enough juice for most short- and medium-haul sales calls, but for crisscrossing states, Mary Kay Independent Sales Directors will need to exercise its merely OK 150-kW DC fast-charging speeds. At least the onboard AC charger for Level 2 charge-ups is strong, at over 19 kW. The rest of the time, they can look forward to a smooth, well controlled ride; athletic handling and excellent tuning of its EV-specific systems, including one of the best one-pedal drive modes (where lifting a foot off the accelerator slows the vehicle using the electric motors) in the business.

2027 Chevy Bolt Spied Looking Refreshed More Than Fully Redesigned
The latest car news, reviews, and features. General Motors' decision to kill the Chevrolet Bolt was a strange one, because it immediately turned around and teased a successor. We're getting close to the debut of that new model—though, as it turns out, it won't be entirely new. The spy shots we've got here strongly indicate a refresh for GM's cheapest EV rather than a full redesign, despite the fact that the Bolt has been out of production entirely since 2023. GM was recently caught testing an upcoming Bolt in white alongside a predecessor Bolt EUV in gray. It appears the company will only sell the larger EUV version this time around, which probably makes more sense for the American market. Side-by-side shots of both generations bear out that the company's designers have indeed scrapped the older model's split brake-light situation, where the elements near the tailgate only light up when the vehicle's lights are on, and the actual brake lights are further down, where you'd expect reflectors to be. Probably a smart move. 2027 Chevy Bolt in white, previous-gen Bolt EUV in gray. Stefan Baldauf/SB-Medien A slightly resculpted front fascia differentiates the two Bolts as well, though I'd hesitate to say one definitively looks more modern than the other. I'll probably have a hard time remembering which face belongs to which generation head on in traffic. If you look closely between the headlights, you'll see some texturing similar to what the Equinox EV wears on its bumper. 2027 Chevy Bolt in white, previous-gen Bolt EUV in gray. Stefan Baldauf/SB-Medien The profile shot makes it abundantly clear that, save a few exterior nips and tucks, this is the old Bolt with some new underpinnings. GM has reportedly incorporated LFP batteries in this new rendition, with updated motors and a NACS port, allowing for Tesla Supercharger access. The automaker is apparently shooting for a 300-mile range with this compact EV, too. That stands to represent a handy improvement upon the prior gen, which topped out at about 250 miles on a full tank of electrons. One thing the next Bolt definitively won't have is a federal EV tax credit, which especially stings because GM may find it challenging to match the old EUV's $30K base price, four model years later. Oh, and it also probably won't have CarPlay, barring a miraculous corporate change of heart. Got a tip? Reach out to us at tips@

View Photos of the Cadillac Elevated Velocity Concept
Read the full story Cadillac has debuted an SUV counterpart to last year's Opulent Velocity concept, with the vision for the future of electric off-road performance dubbed the Elevated Velocity. The Elevated Velocity has dramatic proportions, with a short front overhang, a long hood, and a sloping roofline. The Elevated Velocity is electric and features an adaptive suspension that raises up in the off-road-focused Terra drive mode. The concept is also capable of autonomous driving, with the steering wheel and pedals folding away when the car enters the Elevated mode. This mode also turns the cabin into a sort of wellness spa, with soothing ambient lighting designed to help with controlled breathwork. The cabin is accessed via massive gullwing doors and is upholstered in a combination of red Nappa leather and boucle fabric. The seats have a light, airy look and sit behind an elegant dashboard with an infotainment display integrated into the base of the windshield. There's an additional screen on the steering wheel, while this dial controls the different modes, including Elevate mode, which features infrared light therapy. Cadillac also crafted a bespoke polo set for the Elevated Velocity concept, with the red helmet, gloves, and mallet matching the interior of the car. The Elevated Velocity won't enter production as it is seen here, but together with the Opulent Velocity, it serves as a preview for the evolution of Cadillac's design language. Cadillac's Elevated Velocity concept could foreshadow the brand's future in off-roading
On the surface, Cadillac's new Elevated Velocity looks like your typical concept car: gull-wing doors; a plush red interior; a retractable steering wheel for fully autonomous driving; and futuristic lighting scheme. But the real attention grabber is the lifted chassis and a new off-roading mode that could hint at a possible new direction for GM's luxury brand. The concept is a followup to the Opulent Velocity vehicle that was first revealed at the 2024 Quail, A Motorsport Gathering. That vehicle was an all-electric, 2+2 coupe designed to showcase Cadillac's vision for future luxury performance and autonomous driving. Cadillac is back at this year's Quail with the Elevated Velocity, which is 2+2 crossover that's also meant to foreshadow potential future design cues. Most compellingly is the concept's off-road capabilities. The vehicle rides on 24-inch wheels for better off-road navigation. And a new Terra driving mode activates the vehicle's air suspension for more comfortable driving on uneven surfaces. 'If you think about track mode for the dirt, Terra Active is that, where it boosts the off-road capability, optimizing the active suspension to create the best performance at high speed for the type of terrain you might be on, like loose surface,' Bryan Nesbitt, Cadillac's design chief, said in a briefing with reporters. When asked whether the new concept could signal an off-road extension of Cadillac, Nesbitt didn't foreclose on the possibility. 'Is there more opportunity for higher end performance in this type of form factor and this type of use case relative to, let's say, more dirt performance?' he responded. 'Is there demand for that? We think it's a pretty exciting thing, and that's what initiated this kind of the study for us.' Luxury automakers have been moving more aggressively in the off-road space, with visions of high-performance rock climbing while nestled in a luxurious interior environment. Mercedes-Benz got things started with the G-Wagen, and since then we've seen a variety of brands express interest. Audi's Q6 E-tron lifted concept was released earlier this year, as was Genesis' X Grand Equator concept. And BMW just announced its own plans to release a lineup of luxury off-road vehicles. Of course, Rivian's outdoor-friendly SUV and truck are certainly priced comparable to many luxury offerings. The Elevated Velocity aims to channel that energy through Cadillac's V-series. The automaker's performance brand has been on a bit of a tear lately, releasing V-series versions of the Lyriq and Optiq EVs. The new concept is meant to set the stage for the next evolution of Cadillac's performance brand. By producing more V-badged vehicles, Cadillac is hoping to pivot away from its past image as an 'old man' automotive brand to one that's more Gen Z friendly. To that end, Cadillac has imbued its concept with a lot of digital wizardry that is unlikely to fly in the real world. That includes a steering with a digital display that presents an animated waterfall of sand as a greeting to the driver. The interior lighting can be switched to infrared as a therapeutic measure to 'boost recovery.' (The Cleveland Clinic says that red light therapy is an unproven method for treating wrinkles and other skin problems; Cadillac's Nesbitt says its about 'exploring different types of technology.') In addition to the infrared therapy, the concept also tracks the driver's biometric data, offering insight into heart their rate, oxygenation, and stress levels. Maybe those levels are too high – the Elevated Velocity will guide the driver through a breathing exercise to bring them back down to normal levels. Cadillac envisions you partaking in all this wellness-focuses technology when the vehicle is in autonomous mode. When you're ready to let the car drive itself, the steering wheel and pedals disappear and you're left in an airy cabin being bombarded by infrared light and breathing meditation features. Sound relaxing? But if the wellness seems like a gimmick, Cadillac can point to the concept's off-roading powers as a sign that exciting things are coming in the future.
