Wolves XI vs Manchester City – Predicted lineup and team news

Yahoo02-05-2025

Wolves travel to Manchester City in the Premier League this evening as Europe's in-form team.
Vitor Pereira's team are the only side in Europe's top five leagues to have won six consecutive league fixtures, following a fine period. It's been a remarkable turnaround for Wolves, who were 19th in the table at the time of Pereira's appointment in December.
Only Liverpool and Newcastle have won more games than Wolves in the Premier League since, a run that has carried the club to 13th in the table.

Wolves will hope to be awkward opposition for a Manchester City side seeking to end their season on a high. A win tonight will take City third in the table in their search for Champions League qualification. Pep Guardiola's side will also take on Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final later this month.
The attacking options of Vitor Pereira were boosted by the returns of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Hwang Hee-chan to the bench last week. Both are likely to have to wait for a recall, however, given the form of Jorgen Strand Larsen, Matheus Cunha and January recruit Marshall Munetsi.
Strand Larsen has scored six times in his last six appearances, while Cunha was the architect of the 3-0 win at Leicester with a goal and two assists.
Sasa Kalajdzic, Enso Gonzalez and Yerson Mosquera are all long-term absentees for Wolves.
Wolves predicted XI: Sa; Bueno, Agbadou, Toti; Semedo, Andre, Gomes, Ait-Nouri; Munetsi, Cunha; Strand Larsen,
Manchester City host Wolves in the Premier League on Friday 2nd May 2025. Kick-off at the Etihad is 20:00 BST.
Manchester City vs Wolves is being broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports.

Brighton signs teenage forward Kostoulas from Champions League-bound Olympiakos

LONDON (AP) — Brighton has signed teenage forward Charalampos Kostoulas, who gave up a Champions League season with Olympiakos to play in the Premier League. The 18-year-old Kostoulas signed a five-year contract, Brighton said, with the transfer fee reportedly set at an initial 35 million euros ($40.4 million). 'It is a dream for everybody to come here and play football,' the Greece Under-21 striker said in an interview published Friday by Brighton. He scored seven goals in 22 games in the Greek league as Olympiakos won a record-extending 48th title and completed a trophy double in the domestic cup. Olympiakos was elevated directly into the lucrative Champions League opening phase — because title-holder Paris Saint-Germain already secured a place by winning the French league — and will play eight games in the single-standings league. Brighton finished eighth in the Premier League and did not qualify for European soccer. Kostoulas was the central striker in Olympiakos' Under-19 team that won the 2024 UEFA Youth League, one month before the senior team won the Conference League. ___ AP soccer:

Forward confirms Liverpool deal is VERY close

© IMAGO Kluivert confirms his Bournemouth teammate is moving After the Netherlands' 8-0 win over Malta in a World Cup Qualifier last night, Justin Kluivert spoke to the Dutch football news outlet Voetbal Primeur about his Cherries teammate Milos Kerkez. Advertisement He said: "He'll probably go there [to Liverpool]. I hope so for him. He hasn't really said goodbye yet, but I hope he'll make it happen there." So if you're unsure on Kerkez's situation, then don't be. His teammates are well aware of what's happening. The player has hardly been quiet about his excitement to join the club, often being caught liking posts about Liverpool on social media. His agreement on personal terms has been done for a while. But we know that Bournemouth relied on his brilliance last season and so a fair price will have to be paid if the Reds are to snatch him away. His replacement will also need to be organised.

Victor Boniface stance is causing problems for Bayer Leverkusen

As reported by Bild, Victor Boniface is considered the main player that Bayer Leverkusen which to offload this summer. The Nigerian came incredibly close to leaving last winter for the Saudi Pro League, but the deal fell through in the 11th hour. Advertisement B04 are now hopeful that they can fetch around €50m for the striker, but there's a catch. Boniface no longer wishes to leave Leverkusen. Bayer Headaches It's an early headache in the transfer window for B04 and new head coach Erik ten Hag. The plan this summer was to keep Czech international Patrik Schick, offload Boniface, and bring in a new backup forward. The forward's agent, Emefie Aneke Atta, has explained to Bild the Nigerian's situation and stance: 'Victor has ended the season after his trip to the national team. He's on vacation now, will train hard during his vacation, and then return for preseason. There's a new coach, a new setup, but still a very good team that's back in the Champions League. Victor and I have never discussed a transfer.' Internal talks will now take place as to what the club should do next. What's more, expect ten Hag to have a big say on how this plays out. The Backup Striker in Question Should Boniface leave B04 this summer, the club have their eyes set on Christian Kofane from Albacete Balompié in Spain's second tier. The 18-year-old Cameroonian would cost Leverkusen just €5m, having scored 8 goals in 20 appearances last campaign. Advertisement However, with Boniface's stance, all this now hangs in the balance.
