Police say YouTuber caught speeding on Vancouver Island loses car for a week
LANTZVILLE, B.C. — Mounties on Vancouver Island say a man who described himself as a YouTube influencer had his vehicle impounded and was fined $368 for speeding.
Police say an unmarked BC Highway Patrol officer was working Sunday in Lantzville when he heard an "excessively loud" vehicle accelerate from a stoplight on Highway 19.
They say the driver of the "highly modified" yellow Nissan GT-R was clocked going 150 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.
Cpl. Michael McLaughlin says the driver, who identified himself as influencer during the traffic stop, never saw the unmarked police car and added that his radar detector didn't tip him off either.
On top of the ticket for excessive speed, the man's car was impounded for seven days.
Police say the driver and his passenger were polite throughout the stop and they accepted an offer to being dropped at a nearby Tim Hortons to wait for a ride from the driver's mother.

PF&R investigating ‘suspicious' Powellhurst-Gilbert apartment fire
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Portland Fire & Rescue is investigating after a 'suspicious' fire at an apartment building in the Powellhurst-Gilber Neighborhood early Sunday morning. Just before 6 a.m., PF&R responded to a reported residential fire near the intersection of Southeast 118th and Holgate, where the Bureau of Emergency Communication indicated that fire and smoke was seen from a recently vacated apartment. On the scene, crews saw the blaze on the first and second level of an apartment with smoke pushing through the garage and on the eave line. Sheriff wants to charge for rescues of 'negligent, reckless' hikers in Skamania County Crews were able to quickly suppress the fire and said all occupants made it out of the building. According to PF&R, there were no reported injuries and neighboring apartment units were unaffected. Officials said there were reports of a suspicious person on the property who was quickly arrested by police and has since been released from police custody. Man chased on tarmac at Heathrow Airport near moving aircraft
A man has been filmed being chased on the tarmac at Heathrow Airport before being apprehended. The individual, who was wearing something wide around his waist, was seen running away from at least four other men within metres of moving and stationary aircraft. The chase appeared to last around a minute before a van arrived with two people in fluorescent tops, and the man stopped running. He was later pulled to the ground. Several seconds later, a police van arrived. The man was then put into the back of the vehicle. A Heathrow spokesperson said: "Working with partners, we have quickly resolved an incident at the airport involving an individual who accessed the airfield taxiway. "The individual has been removed from the airport. The airport continues to operate as normal and passengers are travelling as planned."
