Decline in Humanitarian Funding in Yemen Signals Imminent Famine Threatening Millions

Yemen Onlinea day ago

Aden – International aid organizations have warned of an imminent humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen, following a sharp decline in humanitarian funding. The funding shortfall risks plunging the country into an unprecedented famine amid ongoing war and economic collapse.
The World Food Programme (WFP) announced the suspension of its support for moderate malnutrition treatment in Houthi-controlled areas due to depleted supplies and lack of funding—placing millions of children and women at risk.
UN agencies are also facing major difficulties in delivering aid because of sanctions on local banks and a crippling liquidity crisis. As a result, more than 75% of humanitarian assistance has been halted since the beginning of the year.
Yemen's Prime Minister, Salem Bin Buraik, urged the international community to increase support for the government's response plan and provide sustainable funding to bridge the financial gap. He warned that more than 20 million Yemenis are struggling to secure their daily food needs.
This funding decline comes as the country continues to reel from over a decade of war, with no comprehensive political solution in sight—bringing the threat of famine closer than ever before.

Mohammed al-Houthi: US global source of terrorism, destabilizing region

Sana'a – Saba: Member of the Supreme Political Council Mohammed al-Houthi on Thursday affirmed that America is the source of terrorism and crime globally and is actively destabilizing the region. In a tweet on X platform, al-Houthi cited the U.S. veto of a UN Security Council resolution aimed at halting the genocide in Gaza and lifting the blockade as clear evidence of this role. He stated that Yemen, through its current stance, represents an extension of Arab national security, striving for stability and peace by countering the terrorism of America and its Zionist entity, which is clear to the world in the region. Revolution leader calls for million-man march in Yemen for Gaza support

Sana'a – Saba: Leader of the Revolution Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi on Thursday called on the Yemeni people to participate in a "million-man march tomorrow, Friday," in al-Sabeen Square in the capital, Sana'a, and other governorates. The call is a continuation of support for the Palestinian people in Gaza. In his speech today, the Leader called on the people to participate in "million-man marches tomorrow in the capital, Sana'a, and the rest of the governorates, districts, and squares, according to the usual arrangements and procedures." He framed this call as being "by the call of God and the call of Al-Aqsa Mosque." He expressed hope for widespread participation in tomorrow's march, viewing it as a demonstration of loyalty to God, the Palestinian people, Islam, and the Quran. He stressed that the Palestinian people are enduring a very difficult phase, necessitating the continuation of all activities, a loud voice, and large attendance. He underscored that perseverance and steadfastness remain our choices, forming the foundation of our faith-based and religious responsibilities. He pointed out that continuing the million-man marches is an act of jihad for the sake of God and a fulfillment of a sacred duty. It reflects loyalty and embodies fundamental human and moral values. He emphasized that Yemen will maintain its comprehensive position—both officially and popularly, at all levels—in support of the Palestinian people. He added, "Expressing gratitude to God for the blessing of this position requires consistency, integrity, steadfastness, and seriousness—without fatigue, boredom, laxity, or complacency. It also demands constant awareness of the greatness and significance of upholding this stance in a manner that pleases God and brings honor and virtue in both this life and the hereafter." The Leader of the Revolution reiterated that Yemen's stance has significant consequences on the educational, psychological, and practical levels, and in building Yemen's reality as a strong country that strives to advance morally and practically, and to develop its capabilities and potential.
