Fact To File now 11/8 to win the Champion Chase at Punchestown today - while Marine Nationale is next in the market at 2/1 with Sky Bet

Daily Mail29-04-2025

The Willie Mullins-trained Fact To File has been boosted from 1/1 to 11/8 to win at the Punchestown Festival today - as the gelding lines up for the feature race of the day - the Champion Chase.
Fact To File was impressive at the Cheltenham Festival last time out - with the French-bred horse winning the Ryanair Chase by nine lengths from Heart Wood.
The eight-year-old also boasts course form at Punchestown - as he finished first past the post in the Grade 1 John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase in November of last year.
Meanwhile, it is Marine Nationale who is perceived to be the biggest threat to Fact To File - as the Irish horse enters today's fixture as a 2/1 second-favourite.
Marine Nationale was very impressive in his last outing - winning the Cheltenham Festival's Queen Mother Champion Chase by a convincing 18 lengths.
Similarly to Fact To File - Marine Nationale also boasts strong course form, having won at the venue on two separate occasions.
Lastly, for those after outsiders in the market - El Fabiolo, Solness, Captain Guinness and Senecia are next at 11/2, 10/1, 33/1 and 100/1 respectively.
Sky Bet odds for the Punchestown Festival's Champion Chase:
Fact To File WAS 1/1 NOW 11/8
Marine Nationale 2/1
El Fabiolo 11/2
Solness 10/1
Captain Guinness 33/1
Senecia 100/1

Boisson goes from crowdfunding to bumper pay day in Paris

PARIS, June 5 (Reuters) - French Open semi-finalist Lois Boisson will earn at least 690,000 euros ($789,636.00) from her fairytale run at Roland Garros which means the local favourite will no longer have to rely on crowdfunding in a bid to boost her finances. The French wild card came into the tournament having earned about 20,000 euros this year but even if she loses to American Coco Gauff in the semi-finals on Thursday, the world number 361 can expect endorsements and sponsorships to come flooding in. If Boisson beats the second-seeded American and reaches the final she will receive a cheque for 1,275,000 euros, while if the 22-year-old wins the title she will pocket 2,550,000 euros. Boisson started a crowdfunding campaign a year ago, asking for help to "get back to the highest level and make it to the four Grand Slams this year" after suffering a serious knee injury just before Roland Garros, where she got a wild card. Boisson received another invitation from the French tennis federation to play at the tournament again this year and has not disappointed, beating world number three Jessica Pegula and Russian prodigy Mirra Andreeva in the two previous rounds. Boisson only got 100 euros in crowdfunding in a year before that jumped above 1,000 just before the semi-finals but the talented youngster won't need to seek donations now. ($1 = 0.8738 euros)

Eberechi Eze ‘trusting it will work out' over Crystal Palace's European hopes

John Textor holds a 43 per cent stake in Palace through his company Eagle Football and he is also the owner of French club Lyon, who qualified for the Europa League with a sixth-placed finish in Ligue 1. A decision is expected soon and Eze, who is with England for their World Cup qualifier against Andorra and friendly with Senegal, is optimistic. 'I really hope that Palace do get the reward because of what it took to actually achieve that,' Eze told reporters. 'It would be a huge shame if that was not the case but I'm trusting that it will work out in the end. 'It should work itself out because there's players who have worked to be in this position. 'There are fans who have been with the team throughout the whole season and experienced everything.' Meanwhile, Trevoh Chalobah is backing Thomas Tuchel to bring a 'winning culture' to England. A week to remember for @TrevohChalobah ❤️ — England (@England) June 3, 2025 The 25-year-old defender has received his maiden call-up for Tuchel's squad, which is another slice of recognition by the German. Chalobah said: 'He's the one who gave me my Chelsea debut. 'It's been good moments shared with him. He's a very tough manager. And I think that's what us players need going into the World Cup next year, and obviously in these games, just to build us up. 'He's a very good coach. He wants to win. He's a winner, you know? And he's seen that Chelsea, he's won, and he wants to bring that same winning culture here.'

Rocky Bushiri named among Premiership elite as insider warns Hibs that free agent has 'a lot of interest'

The defender has a big decision to make on his future after the end of Easter Road deal Nick Montgomery reckons Hibs star Rocky Bushiri has established himself as one of the top defenders in the Scottish Premiership. The big DR Congo international is now out-of-contact and European-bound Hibs and several other clubs in England and across Europe are fighting for his signature. ‌ Bushiri came in from the cold and scored a stoppage time leveller against Aberdeen to take the pressure off David Gray. ‌ From there, Hibs and the player went from strength to strength. His former manager said: 'This season, I have watched him closely. At the start, he wasn't really getting selected or involved. 'Hibs had a really difficult first part of the season but that changed when Rocky came into the team. To see him score that goal against Aberdeen, which changed Hibs' season and to see him and the club just grow and grow was amazing. 'I am really proud of Rocky for the way he has pushed on. He has really kicked on and has become one of the top defenders in the Scottish Premiership. He won the players' player of the year and there is no higher reward. 'It just shows Rocky's character with the fact he got so little game time at the start of the season. 'For him to step on the way he did has been brilliant. He was big in terms of Hibs finishing third. ‌ 'I wasn't surprised because I knew how good he was and I always believed in him.' Bushiri will make a decision on his future after his international commitments. Montgomery added: "If Hibs could re-sign him it would be fantastic but if he goes on somewhere else then he would be a top signing on a free transfer. ‌ 'I know Rocky has a lot of interest. I am not surprised because he has had such a good season. I am not privy to where he is going but I am pleased that he has put himself in such a strong position because as a player and person he deserves the very best.' Montgomery quickly saw the potential to get Bushiri going at Hibs. He was one of his main players and during that time Hibs turned down a big-money offer from French side Troyes. The Tottenham assistant coach admitted: 'I really believed in him when I took over. I was the first manager to play him regularly because I saw his potential was massive. ‌ 'That is why as a manager, along with the club, we turned down an offer from a French club for him. I was really keen on re-signing him but that never materialised.' It was all very bizarre because Bushiri had been up on loan from Norwich City and Hibs were going to send him back but an administrative blunder meant they missed the deadline and they had to sign him permanently and he failed to nail down a regular top team spot under Shaun Maloney or Lee Johnson Montgomery admitted: 'I was aware of the situation. When I came in I just saw he was a fantastic person, a good human being and he wanted to learn. 'He had all the raw potential and it was a case of somebody putting an arm around him. I did that from the moment I went in. 'We worked a lot on his attributes. I only have good things to say about him.'
