Going beyond politics, Karnataka and the Union government should work together to improve Bengaluru's infrastructure, urged Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology. He was delivering a virtual keynote address at the opening of SAP Labs' largest campus in India at Devanahalli here on Tuesday. He said the Union government was committed to working with the State government, despite political differences, to improve the infrastructure condition of the city. Rail connectivity The Minister further said that the government was keen to improve the transportation facility within the city and outside the city. 'We are planning to double the rail connectivity within the city and to the city from outside in the next three years,' he said. Earlier, inaugurating SAP Labs India Innovation Park, on 41 acres of land at Devanahalli, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, 'Both Airport Metro line and suburban rail were being fast tracked to be ready by 2029. He said he was committed to balancing, decentralising, and sustainable growth beyond the core of Bengaluru.' He said that his government was happy to partner with SAP Labs in areas like digital governance, smart cities, skilling, and sustainability to empower MSMEs, and enhance government services in the State. The new SAP facility represented the global enterprise's deep trust in Karnataka's capability, the Chief Minister said. Since 1998, SAP Labs India, headquartered in Bengaluru, has grown to become SAP's largest R&D facility outside Germany. 'As we advance in clean energy, sustainable mobility, and eco-conscious growth, investments like this demonstrate how economic progress and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand,' Mr. Siddaramaiah said. On education and skill development, he said, with an ambitious ₹2,500-crore programme supported by the World Bank, his government was strengthening first-grade colleges, establishing a Centre of Excellence, and enhancing R&D capabilities to build a skilled, future-ready workforce aligned with the demands of advanced technologies. Cisco suffers data breach: How hackers used ‘voice attack' to steal user information
Cisco has disclosed a recent data breach, revealing that a cybercriminal successfully tricked a company representative into granting access to a third-party database. The attack, identified as a voice phishing or 'vishing' scheme, led to the theft of basic profile information for users registered on The networking giant stated that the hackers accessed and exported a subset of user data, though the company did not specify the number of people affected. 'On July 24, 2025 (GMT+9), Cisco was made aware of an incident involving a bad actor targeting a Cisco representative through a voice phishing attack, also known as vishing. As a result, the actor was able to access and export a subset of basic profile information from one instance of a third-party, cloud-based Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system that Cisco uses,' Cisco said. 'Upon learning of the incident, the actor's access to that CRM system instance was immediately terminated and Cisco commenced an investigation,' the company added. What user data is stolen from Cisco hacking According to Cisco's public disclosure, the stolen data included users' names, organization names, addresses, Cisco-assigned user IDs, email addresses, phone numbers and account-related metadata like the account creation date. According to cybersecurity news outlet Bleeping Computer, this breach may be part of a series of attacks targeting companies' Salesforce data. Other companies that have been impacted include Allianz Life, Tiffany and Co., and the Australian airline Qantas. Cisco is a known customer of Salesforce, a leading cloud-based CRM provider. During this transformative period, India was fortunate to have a steady growth, he said while delivering a keynote address virtually to SAP Labs' leadership and employees at the Garman tech major's newly set up SAP Labs India Innovation Park at Devanahalli in the City outskirts. Commenting on India's economic growth and technological advancements in Railways even under challenging times, the Union Minister said, 'From being the 11th largest economy in the world 11 years ago, India is now on track to become the third largest economy soon. Electronics exports have grown 8 times in the last 11 years. Very soon, we will start the production of the first Made in India chip. The Bullet train accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 54 seconds whereas Vande Bharat does it in 52 seconds.'' He further said, as part of the union government's initiatives to democratise compute power, 34,000 GPUs were made available to every student, researcher, and college startups across the country, a provision made through a Public-Private Partnership. We in India decided to democratise access to compute power and in a very interesting public private partnership.' The facility would lead the development of Joule's agentic AI capabilities, reinforcing India's growing role in AI innovation. As a future-ready facility, the campus would also feature a Customer Experience Centre, hybrid collaboration zones, AI labs, startup incubation hubs, hackathon spaces and plenty of green zones.
