Phoenix Suns Eyeing Boston Celtics Star After Kevin Durant News
Phoenix Suns Eyeing Boston Celtics Star After Kevin Durant News originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant could be dealt to a new team any day now, as the expectation is that he will be moved by the NBA Draft.

After nearly being traded at the deadline, without warning, it was clear that Durant and the Suns would be up for a divorce this offseason.
While Durant has a shortlist of teams he prefers to land with -- that being the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets and Miami Heat -- the Suns have made it clear they're going to take the best package for themselves.
Phoenix still has Devin Booker, their franchise superstar, in his prime years. Bringing in draft picks in a Durant trade will open more roster flexibility, but adding players who can contribute now is important, too.
There are reportedly six to eight teams staying engaged in talks to land Durant, which means the Suns can very well find the most suitable trade package.

With this news emerging, it's been reported by Jake Fischer that the Suns are also doing their homework on Boston Celtics star Kristaps Porzingis.

'I've also heard that Phoenix has done some background work on Kristaps Porzingis with Boston known to be exploring its trade options up and down the roster," Fischer reports.
The Celtics, with Jayson Tatum set to miss the entirety of next season, could very well move on from players like Porzingis, as the Latvian star is set to make just north of $30 million in the final year of his deal.
The Suns, who are aiming to upgrade their big man position, could add Porzingis alongside Booker.
By trading Durant to a team that nets Phoenix the strongest return, they could have the ammunition to wiggle their way to landing Porzingis this offseason.

Whether it be an expanded deal involving both the Suns and Celtics, along with a Durant suitor -- or not -- there are complex ways the Suns could use a return in a trade for the 15-time All-Star to add the star big man.
Porzingis helped the Celtics win the title in 2024. However, with the team set to suffer a setback next season as he enters the final year of his contract, it could make sense for Boston to consider moving him.

Cubs $525 Million Superstar Sets High Bar for Team's Ultimate Goal
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. The Chicago Cubs aren't just looking for a divisional title this season. The club is looking for their first World Series title since 2016. That comes right from the lips of Chicago's superstar right fielder Kyle Tucker. Tucker believes that Chicago has the highest of ceilings and can do something special this season. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - JUNE 12: Kyle Tucker #30 of the Chicago Cubs takes the field in a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field on June 12, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - JUNE 12: Kyle Tucker #30 of the Chicago Cubs takes the field in a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field on June 12, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois. Matt Dirksen/"The ceiling is winning the World Series," Tucker said on Cubs Live. "That was our goal, coming into the season, going into spring training. I think we still have a really good shot at that. We have a really good team. Hopefully we can all come together as a group at the end of the year healthy and playing well, and you know, get that job done." Tucker has appeared in three World Series in his career, all with the Houston Astros. He has one ring to show for it, and he knows what it takes to get to the fall classic. For Tucker and the Cubs, this season has always been about finding ways to win and ultimately winning the World Series. "Our goal coming in was to win a World Series," Tucker said. "And, you know, try and come out and play every game hard and try and win every single game. We don't want to just kind of show up and play and go home at the end of the day, and whether we win or lose, not really care. We want to come out and play well and put on a show for these fans and win games for them. I mean, if you don't want to do that, I don't see the point of showing up at the park." Chicago has done exactly that so far this season, as it currently has a 44-26 record and 5 1/2 game division lead headed into a three-game series against the second place Milwaukee Brewers. Tucker has done his part this season, as he has a .277 average, 13 doubles, 13 home runs, 43 RBIs and a .893 OPS. Those numbers are the reason why Tucker has received the most votes of any right fielder in the National League for this season's All-Star game. With continued success from not only Tucker, but the entire Cubs lineup as a whole, Chicago has an excellent chance of making a deep postseason run toward the World Series. Francisco Lindor gets one step closer to elusive Mets All-Star nod — but two other stars have work to do
Access the Mets beat like never before Join Post Sports+ for exciting subscriber-only features, including real-time texting with Mike Puma about the inside buzz on the Mets. Try it free Francisco Lindor is on the path toward recognition. The Mets de facto captain is the leading vote-getter — by plenty — at National League shortstop in the first balloting update for the All-Star Game. Lindor, who somehow has never made the Midsummer Classic as a Met, has tallied just over a million votes, or 400,000 more than second place (the Dodgers' Mookie Betts). The Phillies' Trea Turner is third. Barring something unforeseen, Lindor will crack his first All-Star Game since 2019 and fifth overall. 3 Francisco Lindor reacts after stealing second base during the Mets' June 12 game. Jason Szenes for the NY Post In recent seasons with the Mets, he had become accustomed to slow starts and excellence otherwise, which had equated to three top 10 finishes for NL MVP, but no July honors. This year has been different, Lindor doing just about everything well in hitting .279 with an .828 OPS, 14 home runs and 13 steals in his first 70 games, some of which have been played through a broken pinky toe. The Mets have two other potential starters, though Pete Alonso and Juan Soto at the moment would be on the outside looking in. In Monday's voting reveal, Alonso is second among NL first basemen and trailing the Dodgers' Freddie Freeman by about 240,000 votes. The competition is an interesting one, Alonso bringing more power but Freeman entering play Monday hitting .332. Soto ranks fourth among NL outfielders with 625,618 votes, trailing Cub and former Mets prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong (1,126,119), his teammate Kyle Tucker (704,740) and the Dodgers' Teoscar Hernández (685,553). 3 Pete Alonso reacts after hitting a double during the Mets' game against the Rays on June 13. Charles Wenzelberg 3 Juan Soto singles during the Mets' June 11 game against the Nationals. Corey Sipkin for the NY Post Among other Mets, Francisco Alvarez comes in third at catcher, Jeff McNeil fifth at second base, Mark Vientos sixth at third base, Starling Marte fifth at DH and Brandon Nimmo 10th and Tyrone Taylor 13th in the outfield. Phase 1 of the voting ends on June 26, at which time the two top vote-getters at each spot (and the top six outfielders) will advance to the next phase. Brooks Raley, who was re-signed in April after Tommy John surgery ended his 2024 season with the Mets, is set to begin a rehab assignment with Low-A St. Lucie on Tuesday. The Mets, who have lost AJ Minter and Danny Young for the season and only are carrying José Castillo as a lefty in the bullpen, will be able to use the help whenever Raley is ready. But he is not expected to be ready soon after undergoing surgery last May. 'He's coming back from a significant surgery,' president of baseball operations David Stearns said last week. 'This is not a short rehab assignment. We've got to go through a full spring training ramp, make sure he's ready to go. … You might be looking at a full 30 days there.' Turning 37 this month, Raley had been effective with the Mets in pitching to a 2.48 ERA through 74 games the previous two seasons.

Kevin Durant Has Strong Opinion on Potential Knicks Trade
Kevin Durant Has Strong Opinion on Potential Knicks Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports. As the NBA heads into the offseason, everyone has their eyes on the Phoenix Suns, and more specifically, their star forward Kevin Durant. Advertisement Durant is expected to be traded by the Suns this offseason and recent reports suggest that a trade could take place before the 2025 NBA Draft as Phoenix looks to add another first-round pick. Of course, there have been many teams linked to Durant heading into the offseason but three teams have emerged as frontrunners to land him after a recent report. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets and Miami Heat are Durant's preferred landing spots in a potential trade. One team that was not named in this report was the New York Knicks despite them being linked to the future Hall of Famer. Advertisement New York has been named in trade rumors for Durant but it is clear that they have their minds made up about a potential trade, though Durant also had a strong opinion about it. Phoenix Suns star Kevin DurantMark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images According to ESPN's Marc J. Spears, Durant wanted to be traded to the Knicks this summer but New York has no interest in acquiring him. 'KD wanted the New York Knicks. He wanted to go there. The Knicks have no interest in bringing him in,' Spears said. This is not a major surprise on the Knicks' side as they are focused on finding a new head coach and likely upgrading their bench in the offseason while keeping the main pieces of their core together. Advertisement Despite this, Durant reportedly wanted to join the Knicks this summer via trade to help them chase a championship next season, but that is now unlikely to happen with New York having no interest in him. Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant gestures to the referee for a foul call against the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Hamilton-Imagn Images Because of this, Durant's focus will now likely remain on the three teams Charania listed in his report, though the Suns can trade Durant anywhere they want to acquire the largest trade package possible to kickstart their rebuild.
