Soccer-Coach Corica rails at officials as Auckland miss out on Grand Final
Goals from Zinedine Machach and Bruno Fornaroli saw Victory overturn a 1-0 first leg deficit to allow Arthur Diles' side to set up an all-Melbourne final while Corica fumed over a disallowed effort from Logan Rogerson with 21 minutes remaining.
"I don't want an apology, I want the right decision to be made," said Corica, who led A-League debutantes Auckland to the Premiership title.
"My opinion is they got it wrong and that could have cost us getting back into the game, for one, and getting into a final.
"You're talking about big decisions so you would hope they would get it right but I don't think so."
Auckland were trailing 2-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate when Rogerson headed in from close range after Guillermo May had crossed from the byeline, momentarily believing he had pulled his side level overall.
But officials ruled the ball had gone out of play before swinging back in prior to Rogerson making contact to leave the New Zealand international with his head in his hands and the 30,000 crowd booing the officials in anger.
"The atmosphere was amazing here again, they've been sensational here all year, the supporters, and we appreciate that," said Corica.
"I'm probably more disappointed for them.
"I think they've been the best crowd all season, they've turned up every week in really good numbers and it's disappointing that they don't get to host a Grand Final next week because of poor refereeing decisions."
Victory coach Diles claimed not to have seen the incident and was instead preparing himself for a meeting with crosstown rivals Melbourne City in the Grand Final.
"It's a great moment for us as a football club, something we've worked really hard for and you get a reward tonight off the back of that," he said.
"It was beautiful to play in front of 30,000 fans tonight. It was even nicer to spoil the party."

Steven Kwan feeling the love as Guardians host Twins
Guardians fans made sure that Steven Kwan knew they were happy he was still in Cleveland after he was the subject of trade-deadline speculation. The All-Star left fielder was showered with cheers and chants of "Kwan, Kwan, Kwan" each time he batted Friday in a 3-2, 10-inning win over the visiting Minnesota Twins. More of the same should be in store Saturday, when Tanner Bibee (7-9, 4.39 ERA) of the Guardians starts the middle contest of the three-game set against fellow right-hander Bailey Ober (4-6, 5.28). Kwan should be in his usual spot atop the lineup, just where the franchise hopes he will remain for the long term after Cleveland team president Chris Antonetti turned down multiple strong trade offers for him. "It was super special with the fans and the chanting out in left field tonight," said Kwan, who went 2-for-5 with a run and his major-league-leading 10th outfield assist. "I don't know if I deserve it, but I'm super grateful for all of it." Negotiations on a contract extension between the sides ceased at the end of spring training, per Guardians owner Paul Dolan's long-standing policy. Kwan has expressed interest in reopening the talks, even though he is under club control through 2027. Antonetti also indicated that Dolan's policy is not set in stone, opening the door for in-season communication while Cleveland pursues an American League wild-card berth. Saptak Talwar makes cut at Scottish Challenge

The score, put alongside his first round 66, placed him at 4-under for a tied-37. In the second round, Talwar had three birdies on the front nine but gave away all that with a bogey on the 11th and a triple on the 16th. Quim Vidal took a two-stroke lead into the weekend after signing for a six under par second round of 65 at Roxburghe. The Spaniard started the day seven-under and mixed five birdies with an eagle and a solitary bogey on day two to move to 13 under par for the week, two shots clear of Scottish duo Euan Walker and Daniel Young.
