Piers Morgan wants Jake Paul 'knocked out' after storming out of interview

Daily Mirror6 hours ago

YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul was involved in a furious clash with Piers Morgan before storming out of an interview live on air and the latter had a typically amusing response
Piers Morgan publicly appealed for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. to knock out Jake Paul after he furiously stormed out of an interview. The YouTuber turned boxer is set to take on the Mexican this weekend in a mouth-watering showdown.
And as part of the promotion of the fight, Paul appeared alongside Morgan on his programme Piers Morgan Uncensored wearing a sombrero. But the interview did not go as planned.

Morgan accused Paul of picking potentially more favourable opponents during his boxing career so far. He said: 'I think you're a great YouTuber, a great influencer.

'I admire what you try to do boxing, but I do think when you actually come up against a proper, serious boxer, and I suspect that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, maybe that person you, it could all come crashing down.'
And that accusation appeared to rile Paul up as he fired back: 'I think the problem here Piers, is that you think that your opinion matters?' That also triggered a brutal response from Morgan as he simply asked why he was doing the show if his opinion did not matter.
Paul replied: 'Oh, I'm just taking your audience to sell pay per views. I don't give a f**k about your show, dumb a**. This is a f*****g business enterprise. Buy the pay per view on Saturday, June 28, me versus Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Thank you, tune in everybody!'
He then angrily hung up the phone, exiting the interview in the process, with Morgan then saying: 'Cheers Jake, really enjoyed that, and good luck to Julio - knock him out for all of us will you?'
And while Morgan's feelings on the upcoming fight are very clear, it appears that Paul has a plan in place to avoid a knock-out, while also downing his opponent in the process. Asked for a prediction in Thursday's press conference, he said: "I'm gonna knock him out,"

"That's what I came here to do. First-round. It's going to be an early night. He's going to get hit with a right hook right away and I'm going home early. I don't get paid for overtime. It's going to be a spectacular performance."
In response, However, Chavez Jr added: "No, I was expecting that from him. It's the only way for him to get attention. I am ready."
Following his fiery interview with Morgan, Paul's press conference opposite Chavez Jr also descended into chaos as the American threw a shirt at his upcoming opponent. But tensions soon settled down following a brief skirmish, with security not needed.

Tommy Fury makes surprise U-turn on fighting Mike Tyson, 58, for eye-watering fee after slamming Jake Paul

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) TOMMY FURY has performed a sensational U-turn - admitting he would fight Mike Tyson for a whopping £50million. The Brit, 26, once blasted the idea of stepping in the ring with the boxing legend after Jake Paul's controversial bout with Iron Mike, 58, last year. Asked about Mike Tyson's clash with Paul, Tommy said: "It's a 60-year-old against a prime 27-year-old, it's stupid. "I'm not interested in that fight one bit. "The man is a legend he should be left alone. At the end of the day it's not safe is it? "[The] man is 60 years old, you're not what you have to have some respect about you, I think.' But now, speaking on Eddie Hall's The Good, The Bad and The Beast podcast, Fury's tone has dramatically shifted, saying a mega-money payday could change everything. Asked if he'd ever take on Tyson, who would be 60 by the time a fight could happen, Fury replied: 'If someone offered me £50million to fight him… I'd probably do it.' The reversal comes after Fury watched Paul bank £31.4million for his points win over a visibly fading Tyson in November, while the ageing legend pocketed around £15.8m himself. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK Tyson later admitted he barely remembered the bout, telling Fox Sports Radio: 'I don't remember the fight that much… I kind of blanked out.' His son Amir even claimed Tyson's wife said: 'Mike is done.' Jake Paul storms out of Piers Morgan interview wearing a sombrero after claiming he would beat peak Mike Tyson Despite the chatter around Tyson, Fury still has eyes on a rematch with Paul, hinting it could land within a year. He said: 'That fight will always be there, there's history, it makes sense for both of us.' Fury beat Paul by split decision in Saudi Arabia in 2023 and remains bullish: 'There's not a doubt in my mind where I go into the ring with Jake Paul and I think he beats me.' Meanwhile, Youtuber Paul, returns this Saturday night seven months after his blockbuster fight with Tyson. He will take Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in Anaheim, California.

Defiant Phil Mickelson refusing to give up on that missing Major as LIV star makes vow

American legend believes he'll get more cracks at elusive Major Defiant Phil Mickelson is refusing to give up on the US Open and believes he can earn more opportunities to find the elusive missing piece in his Major jigsaw. The LIV Golf star made his way out of Oakmont a fortnight ago after missing the cut with many believing his 34th appearance would be his last. ‌ Mickelson has won the Masters three times, he's twice won the PGA Championship and secured an Open at Muirfield a dozen years ago. However, despite six runner-up finishes, the US Open has eluded Lefty in career and, at the age of 55, his chances look virtually gone. ‌ Mickelson's latest exemption to the event for winning the 2021 PGA has expired and he'll have to qualify in the future, starting at Shinnecock Hills in 2026. But the US icon, who will be at Royal Portrush next month for the 153rd Championship as a past winner, isn't giving it up on being back for a 35th try and beyond. The door is closing, but it's not locked as, ahead of this week's LIV event in Dallas, he said: 'So I said it's very possibly my last and I think that's real. However, I also feel like I'm starting to play some good golf. This year has been my best year on LIV. I've had three top-six finishes and some opportunities to win. If I play like that in some upcoming Major championships, that could ultimately qualify me into another US Open. 'I don't want to say it's my last. I actually think I'm playing well enough that, if I can play at the level I've played at out here in Majors again, I'll finish high enough to get into a US Open via that qualifying avenue. So I don't want to say that it is my last because I think I'm going to contend. I'm in the other three majors for a lot of years and it could very well get me into the US Open again.' Mickelson, meanwhile, has spoken out on the growing popularity of YouTube golf and the way it is being embraced by himself and his peers, such as Bryson DeChambeau, on LIV Golf. He said: 'In professional golf, you can't banter like this and have fun with it because there's kind of this edge or line that you lose. You just can't have fun like this because I don't know how to say it, but there's a point where it kind of crosses a line, but in YouTube golf that line is totally different because we're here to have fun and a big part of the competition is the banter. 'When people, guys, women, go out and play on the weekends and they're with their buddies and they're talking and chirping, that's what they can relate to. That's exactly what they do with their friends at home and they see that on YouTube. That's what I think makes YouTube golf so fun is this interaction here because we can say things that you wouldn't say in an intention professional competition.'
