Team Canada will seek to continue its winning ways at the 2025 IIHF World Championship when it hosts Finland on Monday, May 19. Led by superstar winger Nathan MacKinnon, Canada has sailed through group play with a 28-2 goal advantage over its opponents in five contests. A high-flying Finnish roster led by captain Teuvo Teräväinen and Eeli Tolvanen is looking to break Canada's winning streak in Group A, however. Here's all the details about the Canada vs. Finland match at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, TV and live stream details and more.

Canada, with one of the most potent lineups in the event, enters Monday's encounter with Finland with five victories and 15 points under its belt. Canada crushed Slovakia 7-0 on Saturday. Nathan MacKinnon leads the attack with 10 points, with an able support cast led by veterans Sidney Crosby, Brad Marchand, and Cale Makar.
This will be Canada's redemption match in the second-to-last group-stage contest, and they have Sweden up next.
Teuvo Teräväinen owns nine points to date, as does Eeli Tolvanen with eight, a duo that will give defensemen nightmares. Finland fell behind 2-1 in a shootout to Sweden in an earlier game, but their recent action — a 9-1 trouncing of Slovenia — shows they're not throwing in the towel on this one yet.

National Sports Governance Bill gets President Droupadi Murmu's assent

President Droupadi Murmu gave assent to The National Sports Governance Bill, 2025. The Bill, which promises to revamp India's sports administration, has now become an Act. The Presidential assent came on Monday (August 18, 2025), stated a Gazette notification by the Central Government. 'The following Act of Parliament received the assent of the President on the 18th August, 2025 and is hereby published for general information — The National Sports Governance Act, 2025,' it stated. On August 11, 2025, the Lok Sabha passed the National Sport Governance Bill, 2025 even as the Opposition continued their protests against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar and the alleged vote fraud. The Bill was moved by Sports Minister Mansukh Mandviya and saw little discussion. A day later, the Rajya Sabha passed it following a discussion that lasted well over two hours. The National Sports Governance Bill seeks to regulate the various sports administrators in India. The Bill mandates the creation of a National Sports Board (NSB) which will oversee all sports federations, including India's richest sports body – the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Indian Racing Festival 2025: Sai Sanjay secures big win for Speed Demons Delhi

The Indian Racing Festival (IRF) 2025 concluded Round 1 at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore on Sunday, with Speed Demons Delhi's Sai Sanjay taking victory in the IRL Driver B Race . He was followed by Fabienne Wohlwend of Goa Aces in second and Neel Jani of Kichcha's Kings Bengaluru in third. The race opened with Akshay Bohra leading from pole, but he lost pace mid-race, allowing Sanjay to move ahead. Behind him, Gowda, Rao and Jani fought for third, with Jani eventually recovering from an early power failure to secure a podium spot. In the IRL, Sanjay secured the win after moving ahead of early leader Akshay Bohra, who lost momentum after a strong start. Goa Aces driver Fabienne Wohlwend followed in second, while Neel Jani of Kichcha's Kings Bengaluru staged a recovery to finish third after suffering a power loss on lap one. Jani's late move on Akash Gowda sealed his podium place, capping a close contest for third between Gowda, Tijil Rao and Jani in the final laps. In Race 1, Apostolidis of Hyderabad Black Birds converted his pole start into victory, with Chennai Turbo Riders' Shane Chandaria finishing second and Kolkata Royal Tigers' Ishaan Madesh in third. Race 2 saw Madesh launch from fourth on the grid to seize the lead, maintaining it under pressure from French driver Sachel Rotge, who finished second. Apostolidis, after starting fifth, worked his way up to third. The JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship brought its own drama. Dhruvh Goswami initially dominated the LGBF4 category, but his victories in Races 1 and 2 were overturned following a technical infringement, promoting Diljit to the top step. Goswami returned in Race 3 with a commanding drive to take the win, while Saran Vikram Tmars and Raghul Rangasamy secured second and third respectively. These results remain provisional pending scrutineering. With the curtain down on Round 1 in Coimbatore, focus now shifts to the Madras International Circuit in Chennai, a 3.7 km layout compared to Kari's 2.1 km. Teams and drivers will face new challenges at the longer circuit, which currently holds an IRL lap record of 1:30.681 set in 2022. Next weekend will determine whether the record stands as the competition intensifies. Discover everything about the automotive world at Times of India .

Suryakumar Yadav , after clearing a BCCI fitness test, is set to continue as T20 captain, potentially through to the 2026 T20 World Cup. The Gill dilemma: Despite Shubman Gill 's stellar IPL-2025 (650 runs, avg 50, strike-rate 155.87 as Gujarat Titans skipper), selectors are likely to exclude him from the Asia Cup squad. The focus is likely to be on boundary-hitting prowess. Samson, Abhishek to open? Sanju Samson (three T20I hundreds last year) and Abhishek Sharma (explosive 135 vs England earlier this year) are seen as firstchoice openers. Tilak Varma at No. 3: Despite an average IPL, Varma's two T20I hundreds in South Africa guarantee his spot, highlighting the priority of international form over IPL stats. Jaiswal as third opener? Yashasvi Jaiswal is touted to be the preferred third opener over Gill, primarily due to his hitting abilities in the Powerplay. What happens to Shreyas Iyer? Shreyas Iyer, despite a strong IPL (captaining Punjab Kings to the final) and top-scoring in the 2025 Champions Trophy (243 runs), faces stiff competition from left-handed big-hitters like Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thanh Pho Ho Chi Minh: Unsold Furniture Liquidation 2024 (Prices May Surprise You) Unsold Furniture | Search Ads Learn More Undo Bumrah good to go: The ace pacer has confirmed his availability.
