It was also revealed that Mdaka's salary is below R50,000 per month. This is in stark contrast to Bafana Bafana 's Belgian coach Hugo Broos , who reportedly earns a six-figure monthly salary.
Mdaka led Amajita to the junior Afcon title last month, but according to reports, Safa has not processed bonuses due to the coach, while the footballing body's bonuses have been paid following the tournament.
Challenges Facing South African Football Coaches: Issues with SAFA Support
"The people that want to be coaches will most certainly be asking themselves, is this really the treatment that the coaches are getting? Which is not good for our youth football or South African football in general,' Mnguni told SportsBoom.co.za.
"The sad thing is, you can see that he's an old person; he's been around for a long time in football. My concerns are not solely about him as an individual, but more so about his family, his children, and wife, that his name is in the public like that and his salary has been made public information."
"So, for the mental state of the family and the children, I think that's the sad part, that we just know such things all over the media. And could this have been handled better? Yes, definitely it could have been handled better, but the situation needs to be solved swiftly and needs to be addressed by Safa.'
Mnguni went on to reveal that he has been trying to further his coaching qualifications, and has received little assistance from Safa.
"Dealing with Safa is difficult. It's so difficult to go through Safa. I've won the league back-to-back. I've been trying to do my Caf B licence, and I find it difficult, even if I meet all the requirements, but I find it difficult just to say, Can I just do this course? Sometimes I feel like you need to know someone at Safa just to do this course.'
"To be quite honest, I don't feel like it's easy to get communication through Safa. We are coaching youth football. I think we should be the ones who are prioritised for these coaching certificates because we need that knowledge so that we can develop better players. But if we find it this difficult to do a course, we won't reach our true potential.'

Canan Moodie is a 'proper student' of the game, says Jesse Kriel

Jesse Kriel has praised Canan Moodie on his switch from an outside back to outside centre, and believes he is set to thrive in the position. Springbok utility back Canan Moodie looks to finally be making his transition fully into an outside centre, with the Boks now backing him as a No 13, instead of on the wing, where he has played for most of his professional career. The 22-year-old started at fullback and on the wing for the Bulls in his first pro season in 2022, and also made his Bok debut on the wing later that year against the Wallabies, scoring a stunning try after plucking the ball out of the air ahead of Aussie stalwart Marika Koroibete and racing away. However, Moodie played outside centre at schoolboy level, and after he made his first appearance for the Boks in the position during their memorable 35-7 hammering of the All Blacks at Twickenham ahead of the 2023 World Cup, it was more a question of when and not if he would make the switch. Moodie himself has admitted that he prefers playing in the No 13 jumper, while former Bulls coach Jake White also said he saw his future there, and now it looks like Rassie Erasmus is going all in on him in the position. He has played at 13 for the Bulls numerous times over the past season, and played their in the Boks' last two games, scoring tries in their wins over Italy in Gqeberha and Georgia in Mbombela. Backup 13 At Monday's team announcement, ahead of Saturday's Test against Australia at Ellis Park, Erasmus said that he had named Moodie on the bench for this weekend's game, as backup to first choice outside centre Jesse Kriel, because Damian de Allende, who usually covers it, was out due to an injury niggle. At a press conference on Tuesday Kriel was asked about the rise of Moodie in the position and he was full of superlatives to describe his teammate and competitive rival for the No 13 jersey. 'I think he's done an unbelievable job when he has played at centre. I don't think people realise what kind of rugby brain he has on him as well. He is a proper student of the game, and he does a lot of work behind closed doors that no one sees,' said Kriel. 'He also has an absolute engine on him. He's a great athlete that can keep working repeatedly and I think he has an unbelievable future ahead of him. 'He is someone that is a really good rugby player and a really good team man as well. So it's great to be competing and working with a guy like that. It is awesome for South African rugby.' Although Kriel is the current first choice Bok 13, and will likely still be firmly in the mix at 33-years-old by the time the next World Cup rolls around in 2027, Moodie will be gunning to take over as the starting bolter.

Kwa-Thema soccer talent on show at Gauteng tournament

The Benoni Northerns Sports Club and St Dunstan's College fields were abuzz with excitement on August 8 as young soccer players from across Gauteng showcased their skills and passion at the annual Schools for Learners with Special Educational Needs (LSEN) Mild Intellectual Disability (MID) Schools tournament. With 33 U19 boys' teams and 20 U19 girls' teams competing, the event was a vibrant celebration of sport, inclusion, and determination, proving that talent knows no boundaries. Belvedere School and Daveyton Skills School represented Benoni. Springs' Olympia Park, Kwa-Thema Skills Schools, Kempton Park Panorama, JJ Masipa Technical School and Samson LSEN School represented Ekurhuleni. The tournament was held to select the teams to represent the province at the South African LSEN MID schools soccer week in September. 'We had South African football legends helping us identify the players for next month's soccer week hosted by the Western Cape, in Cape Town. Four teams will represent Gauteng – two boys' and two girls' teams,' said Gauteng LSEN MID Schools Football Association chairperson, Mpho Maseko. He said two teams will come from the combined Gauteng North and Ekurhuleni pools, while the others will be selected from players from the Gauteng West and South regions. 'We are the only province with multiple LSEN MID schools. The players will be selected from our four regions. Gauteng North and Ekurhuleni will have a boys' and girls' team, and we will also have two teams from the combined South and West regions,' he said. Besides this one-day tournament, the schools partake in a league divided into five regions. The winners of each region in the different age groups advance to the provincial knock-outs, with the overall winners going to represent Gauteng in the Noordvaal MID Schools Cup. Maseko added that the tournament was celebrating its 24th anniversary. 'This festival initially included rugby, cricket and netball because back then the MID schools were predominantly white. Football got involved in 2001 to involve the schools in the townships.' League general secretary Matsobane Mashishi said the competition gives the learners, often marginalised, a platform to express themselves without being stigmatised. 'It is a great day for our learners. They face lots of challenges. Some cannot even reveal to their peers which schools they attend to avoid being stigmatised. We are giving them a platform to be themselves. 'You can tell by the atmosphere that they are in a place where they feel welcomed, valued and appreciated. This is what we want as teachers,' Mashishi said.
