The match may have lacked quality for long periods, but this was the Posh's first win in nine league games and it kept them six points clear of the relegation zone.
Peterborough took the lead after 19 minutes when Tayo Edun's cross from the left was met by a diving header from Manchester City loanee Susoho that went in off the post.
Posh goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic almost had a calamitous moment in the 63rd minute when his clearance was charged down by Will Goodwin and he was relieved to see the ball fly wide.
The hosts came close to wrapping the game up after 78 minutes when Abraham Odoh played in Ricky-Jade Jones, but Sam Tickle came out to make a good stop.
The Wigan goalkeeper kept his side in the contest again when he tipped over Chris Conn-Clarke's shot from outside the box, but one goal was enough for Peterborough.

'Alex died chasing his dream, it can't be in vain'
The family of a 15-year-old champion kickboxer who died after a bout have said while his death has left them "broken", they hoped it wouldn't be "in vain". Alex Eastwood, from Fazakerley, Liverpool, collapsed after the third and final two-minute round of a "light contact" kickboxing match against a 17-year-old opponent in Wigan in June 2024. He was taken to hospital but had suffered a serious head injury and died three days later. Alex's father Stephen Eastwood and step-mother Nikita vowed to make the sport safer after it came to light he had been competing in an unsanctioned fight. His father Stephen Eastwood said: "As a family, we're still broken. I don't think that will ever go away. "We're just trying to do thing right and make change for the people involved in that sport." Mr Eastwood said they were hopeful that a recent meeting with Culture, Media and Sport Secretary Lisa Nandy, who is also the MP for Wigan, would result in changes being made. He said: "She was quite positive that something will happen to prevent this from happening again. "So as a parent, his death isn't in vain - there's a lasting legacy for Alex and to protect other people in the sport." 'Massive regret' A recent inquest into Alex's death found there was no minimum standard of medical aid or proper risk assessments done at events like the one that resulted in his death. Coroner Michael Pemberton said neither Alex, nor his parents, appreciated the dangers of the "chaotic and somewhat disjointed" approach to children involved in combat sports. Mrs Eastwood said Alex was "massively failed" by the lack of safety protocols in the organisations he competed and trained with. "He was just doing his dream, doing what he wanted and pursuing his career," she said. "There was nothing to keep that dream fulfilled and sustained within the safety that should have been there for him." She said assuming that there were safety protocols in place was "a massive regret" she had. Mrs Eastwood said: "I encourage other parents to ask the questions - what is my child going into here?" Arsenal learn u18 Premier League Cup group stage draw
The Arsenal u18s have learned their group stage draw for the u18 Premier League Cup in 2025/26, with the competition kicking off this month. Photo via Arsenal have confirmed that they're due to face Peterborough United, Stoke City, and Norwich City in this season's u18 Premier League Cup group stage, playing Peterborough at home and the other two games away. The group stage is always competitive, with only the top team guaranteed a spot in the knockouts. Unless you win all three matches, qualification can end up out of your hands. The competition kicks off in August, with Arsenal hosting Peterborough on Tuesday, August 26th. The young Gunners will then travel to Stoke on Saturday, October 4th, before wrapping up the group stage away to Norwich on Saturday, November 22nd. The u16 Premier League Cup mirrors the u18 competition, so they'll play the same group stage matches. KEY STATS: Marked tackling improvement but is one player being under-used?
WHILE it is often criticised for its lack of size, Warrington Wolves' pack does not lack defensive strength. And despite defeat against Wigan Warriors in Round 21, that is in evidence again with a look at the player stats from the game. There are four players in particular whose numbers in defence jump off the page, with Luke Yates and Sam Stone both leading the way in terms of tackles made with 38 each. Both were active from marker within that – Stone made 11 marker tackles, Yates 10 – while Yates completed 100 per cent of his tackles, with Stone only missing two. Ben Currie was just behind the pair with 37 tackles without missing a single one while Ryan Matterson made 30 with just one miss. Danny Walker (22) and Joe Philbin (11) also had a 100 per cent tackle completion rate amid a much-improved showing on the tackling front collectively. Wire's missed tackle count of 20 is exactly half of their total from last week's defeat to Leigh Leopards and is their lowest figure since the Round 13 win over Castleford Tigers (19). Clinical edge deserts Wire In terms of metres gained with the ball, all of the top five players from the game were wearing primrose and blue. Josh Thewlis led the way with 161m – helped heavily by his long-range interception try – followed by George Williams (152m), Toby King (149m), Danny Walker (133m) and Jake Thewlis (108m). By contrast, only two Wigan players cleared the 100m mark – Jai Field (103m) and Ethan Havard (100m) – but there is a key figure within that area of the statistics that highlights Wire's lack of ruthlessness. Both sides made three clean breaks each with Wigan converting all of theirs – two for Zach Eckersley and one from Brad O'Neill – into tries. By contrast, only one of Warrington's three resulted in points – George Williams' burst through to score in the second half. Was Max Wood underused? No exact figure is available for the lengths of players' stints on the field, but Max Wood's felt very short – certainly no more than 15 second-half minutes. However, a look at the stats hints at him perhaps being underused. Against his former club, the young front-rower only carried the ball twice but they yielded 23 metres, many of them post-contact. Last week at Leigh, too, he was only used in a very brief burst and his sole carry in that game made nine metres. There will no doubt be an explanation as to why Wood is being used in this way but given he generally brings impact with the ball – he averages 7.42m per carry for the season as a whole – it is easy to see why there are plenty of supporters who feel he is under-utilised.
