1 Dead, 14 Shot at Family Party in Houston

A shooting at a house party in southeast Houston early Sunday morning left at least one person dead and up to 14 others injured, according to the Houston Police Department.
Officers began receiving emergency calls around 12:50 a.m. reporting gunfire in the Cherry Hill area.
Assistant Police Chief Patricia Cantu
told
reporters during a press briefing that police arrived within minutes to find multiple victims with gunshot wounds scattered around the property.
The incident took place during a family gathering. According to investigators, an uninvited guest was asked to leave the event but allegedly returned and opened fire. Other attendees reportedly responded by firing back, turning the party into a chaotic and deadly scene.
The Houston Fire Department also responded to the incident. At least one fatality was confirmed at the scene, while several of the wounded were reported to be in critical condition and undergoing emergency surgeries.
Some victims managed to transport themselves to nearby hospitals, Cantu added.

Israeli forces kill six more Palestinians near US-backed 'aid centre' in Gaza - War on Gaza
Israeli forces killed six Palestinians near a US-backed aid centre in southern Gaza on Saturday, as they carried out attacks that left at least 36 dead across the territory, including airstrike victims, the civil defence said. At around 7:00 a.m. (0400 GMT), Israeli forces opened fire near the Al-Alam roundabout in southern Gaza's Rafah area, killing six people and wounding several others, according to Gaza civil defence spokesman Mahmoud Bassal. Since late May, residents have gathered nearly daily at Al-Alam to receive humanitarian aid from a centre about one kilometre (0.6 miles) away, operated by the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). The organization has faced widespread condemnation for prioritizing Israeli military objectives -- including the ongoing displacement and humiliation of Palestinians starved by Israel -- over the efficient and effective delivery of aid. Samir Abu Hadid, who was at the scene early Saturday, told AFP that thousands had assembled near the roundabout. "As soon as some people tried to advance towards the aid centre, the Israeli occupation forces opened fire from armoured vehicles stationed nearby, firing into the air and then at civilians," he said. Saturday's incident marked the latest in a series of fatal shootings by Israeli forces near the Al-Alam aid point. In May, Israel and the US established aid centers to provide limited relief to Gazans through the GHF, amid an ongoing Israeli blockade imposed since 2 March. Despite this, Israeli forces have repeatedly opened fire on civilians -- including women and children -- attempting to access these humanitarian aid sites. Israeli troops killed 27 people in southern Gaza on Tuesday near one of the centers operated by the GHF, prompting the organization to temporarily suspend operations before resuming the next day. Since the GHF began operations on 26 May, Israeli attacks near its aid distribution sites have killed over 100 Palestinians seeking aid and wounded nearly 500. The United Nations and other aid groups have refused to cooperate with the GHF -- deeming it a private effort with opaque funding and neutrality issues -- and continue to warn that Gaza's entire population of over two million people is facing famine-level conditions. Israel has recently intensified its genocidal campaign in Gaza in what it claims is a renewed offensive. Since breaking a ceasefire on 18 March, Israeli attacks have killed at least 4,497 Palestinians, raising the overall death toll in Gaza to 54,772 -- the vast majority of them women and children. 42 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes on several areas in Gaza Strip
CAIRO – 6 June 2025: 42 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on several areas in the Gaza Strip on Friday according to Palestinian media reports. An Israeli fighter jet struck a five-story residential building in Jabalia, northern Gaza, resulting in the deaths of three Palestinians and injuries to dozens more. According to medical sources, three Palestinians were also killed and others wounded after an Israeli combat drone targeted a charging point for cell phones between tents sheltering displaced people to the west of Khan Younis, WAFA reported. A child was also shot dead by Israeli troops near the Al-Saraya detention area in Khan Younis. Another civilian succumbed to injuries sustained in a previous Israeli strike on the city. Israeli strikes have also killed one Palestinian in the town of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis. In addition, eight Palestinians were killed and 61 injured in renewed massacres in Rafah City in the southern Gaza Strip on Friday. The victims were targeted while trying to reach recently established humanitarian aid sites in western Rafah on the first day of Eid Al Adha. Earlier Friday, 10 Palestinians were killed and others injured in an Israeli raid on homes in Jabalia. They were taken to the Al-Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital in Gaza City.

ICE Officers, Deportees Trapped in Djibouti Shipping Container
Taarek Refaat US federal court documents reveal that approximately 12 Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers (ICE) and eight deportees are suffering from illnesses and living in harsh conditions inside a metal shipping container in Djibouti. More than two weeks ago, Boston federal judge Brian E. Murphy halted a deportation flight transporting migrants from Cuba, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, and Mexico to South Sudan, ruling that the operation violated his April injunction, which prohibits deporting people to countries other than their home countries without giving them an opportunity to seek humanitarian protection. The judge ordered the responsible authorities to conduct humanitarian protection screenings in accordance with the Convention against Torture. Instead of returning them to the United States, authorities transported the migrants to Djibouti, where a shipping container was converted into a temporary detention center inside the only US military base in Africa, Camp Lemonnier. Melissa Harper, a senior immigration official, testified in court that three officers and eight detainees arrived at the base unprepared for potential hazards, such as extreme temperatures, air pollution, and the security threat from Yemen. She added that the officers were not provided with protective clothing or equipment, despite advance warnings of "an imminent threat of rocket attacks from groups in Yemen."
