Connections looking to to see the real Falakeyah next time out
Having bolted up on her Wolverhampton debut in November, the Owen Burrows-trained filly looked every inch a top-class performer in the making when running away with Newmarket's Pretty Polly Stakes on her return to action in the spring.
After sidestepping the Oaks at Epsom and being ruled out of the French equivalent, Falakeyah dropped back to a mile for the Coronation Stakes, but ended up racing too enthusiastically for her own good on the front end before weakening in the home straight.
Angus Gold, racing manager for owners Shadwell, said: 'It was a pity, as I was very pleased with her before the race. She settled beforehand, I thought, she was good and calm in the ring and Jim (Crowley) said she went down brilliantly relaxed.
'I've only seen the replay once, but it looked to me like for the first 50 or 60 yards of the race she was OK and then when Hollie (Doyle, riding Duty First) came upsides her she just put her head in the air and took off basically. It just set her alight and that was it.
'On a hot day like that, she was never going to be able to keep going at that pace, so we'll just give her a bit of time. We didn't learn anything regarding distance or anything like that, all we learnt was she's not going to win races if she races like that.'
He added: 'We know she's considerably better than that, her work at home is very high class and that run didn't bare any resemblance to her work at home. We'll obviously have to try to settle her next time and maybe we'll have a look at something like the Nassau. We'll just see how everyone feels nearer the time.
'At home she settles beautifully and is quite happy to take a lead and doesn't fight the jockey, so we've just got to get her to do that on the racecourse if she's going to have any chance of finishing off her races.'

Martindale takes summer signings to eight
Ambitious Livingston FC have signed two players in the last 48 hours. German national Jannik Wanner, who joins from Austrian side SKU Amstetten, and Mo Sylla, from William Hill Premiership rivals, Dundee. That takes David Martindale's recruitment to eight and Wanner joins on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old was born in Haiti and arrives at the Home of the Set Fare Arena following a career in Germany and Austria. He made his senior debut with TSV Berg, winning promotion and scoring three goals, before switching to Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz. Wanner then moved to FV Illertissen making 44 appearances for the German side with performances that had his previous club, Bregenz, interested. He moved back to them and made 30 appearances before being signed by SKU Amstetten. Martindale (pictured) was impressed with his tally of ten goals in 32 games and his signing comes 24-hours after the club confirmed the capture of Sylla who also joins on a three-year contract. The 31-year-old midfielder spent two seasons with the Tayside club, making 67 appearances. The French-born player started his career at L'Entente SSG, making 115 appearances and scoring six goals before moving to England to join Oldham Athletic. He spent a season with The Owls before returning to France to join Laval. Sylla arrived back in Britain to join Aldershot Town and his outstanding performances earned a move to Hartlepool United where he played on 42 occasions in League Two. Dundee moved in he signed a two-year deal with the Tayside team. He was and a fans favourite at Dens Park and Martindale hopes the talented player can become one in West Lothian. Meanwhile, Livingston returned for pre-season training this week and the club have also renewed their stadium naming deal with local taxi firm, Home of the Set Fare, and appointed George Cairns as Academy Director. Chelsea to axe 10 players in huge clearout as Maresca attempts to fund transfers
Chelsea are gearing up for another busy summer in the transfer market and there is a high possibility that the Londoners will try and move on a load of unwanted stars Chelsea are prepared to axe a whole host of squad players this summer in order to give Enzo Maresca the financial clout he needs to finetune his squad for the upcoming 2025-26 campaign. The Blues finished fourth in the Premier League last season and have already added to their squad with the FIFA Club World Cup. And it would appear that further transfer activity is highly likely both in and out of Stamford Bridge over the coming months. Chelsea have spent huge sums of money on a number of signings in recent years and, with more new faces expected, a significant player turnover is all but guaranteed. As per The Athletic, this summer could see as many as 10 players moved on by the Blues, who are currently locked in talks to sign Jamie Gittens for £50million. Among those who are expected to depart Chelsea this summer include Christopher Nkunku: the versatile French forward who was linked with Manchester United earlier this week. Nkunku has struggled to make an impression since joining the Blues and a parting of the ways this summer is on the cards. Djordje Petrovic is also in line to depart; he is keen to be a No.1 and exploring a move away after asking to be left out of Chelsea's squad for the FIFA Club World Cup following an impressive loan spell with Strasbourg last season. Players who spent time out on loan last term, such as Armando Broja, Ben Chilwell, Axel Disasi and Raheem Sterling, are also free to leave permanently. Carney Chukwuemeka and Renato Veiga are two other players who the club would like to sell, per the report, which adds that Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson could also be on move. For Madueke and Jackson, though, things are more fluid. Neither are explicitly viewed as 'for sale', however, serious offers would give Chelsea something to think about with neither viewed as 'untouchable'. Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Madueke and could round back to the England star later this summer depending on how their search for a new left winger goes. Chelsea are expected to recruit another versatile forward in addition to Gittens, who is poised to snub interest from Bayern Munich to join the Blues.
