Sofía Vergara Undergoes Knee Surgery

Sofía Vergara is on the mend.
Over a year after revealing she underwent a successful knee surgery, the Modern Family alum gave an update on her health, sharing that she is now in recovery from a second operation.
In a photo shared to Instagram July 25, Vergara—wearing a blue hospital gown and wristband—smiled for a selfie while sitting in a doctor's room with a privacy curtain behind her. And in a second shot, the 53-year-old showed a close-up of her leg, which featured a grey brace on her calf and a white bandage on her knee.
"It's done," Vergara—who did not disclose why she needed the surgeries—captioned the images. "Round 2."
Indeed, this was not the Griselda star's first time going under the knife.
Back in April 2024, Vergara revealed that she underwent an operation on her knee and was being cared for by her then-boyfriend, orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman, who she announced her split from in January 2025 following more than a year of dating.

"If u ever get a [major] knee surgery make sure u Get a handsome doctor who will sleep with u that night... !" she wrote on her Instagram Stories at the time. "Luv u."
And Vergara's knee surgery isn't the only health journey she's gotten candid about over the years. In 2021, the actress reflected on being diagnosed with thyroid cancer at age 28.
"When you're young and you hear that word, 'cancer,' your mind goes to so many places," she shared during a Stand Up To Cancer TV special at the time. "But I tried not to panic, and I decided to get educated. I read every book and found out everything I could about it."
Luckily, Vergara's diagnosis wasn't life threatening, and she was deemed cancer free after having an operation to remove her thyroid gland, as well as undergoing radiation treatment.
"I was fortunate to have caught it early and to have the support of my doctors and most importantly, my family," Vergara said. "I learned a lot during that time, not just about thyroid cancer but I also learned that in times of crisis, we're better together and if we're going to end cancer, it's going to require a team effort."
