Venezia FCandDrake'sNOCTAhave released their 25/26 Goalkeeper Jerseys, continuing their 'Home Ground' campaign and its fusion of sport and culture.
This collection pays homage to the bold style of the 1990s, an era when goalkeeper kits were vibrant declarations of personality and identity. The new jerseys elevate the goalkeeper from a defensive role to a symbol of presence and vision. Multimedia artist Fabrizio Plessi, a Venice native, is the face of the campaign, embodying the collaboration's fusion of art and sport.
The 25/26 Goalkeeper Home Jersey returns with a gold tone, featuring NOCTA's signature star pattern inspired by the Venetian night sky. Sunderland keen to bolster defence further as offer is made for Bologna centre-back

Sunderland keen to bolster defence further as offer is made for Bologna centre-back originally appeared on The Sporting News Sunderland are not letting up in the transfer marker despite making 11 first-team signings already this summer and getting off to a flying start in the club's Premier League return. According to Fabrizio Romano, The Black Cats have made an official offer for Bologna centre-back Jhon Lucumi. The good news for Sunderland is that the Columbian wishes to join the club, but there could be some stumbling blocks in attempting to get a deal done as the Serie A club do not plan on selling the player. The 27-year-old had a release clause believed to be around £24m, however that expired recently. This leaves Sunderland in a position to potentially negotiate for a lower fee for the defender, but it could prove difficult convincing Bologna to do a deal this late in the window. Lucumi featured 44 times in all competitions for the Italian side last season. He played in the team's Coppa Italia final victory over AC Milan, which secured Bologna a first major trophy in 51 years. 📲 Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp Getty Sunderland's defensive recruitment Defence was one area of the pitch Sunderland had not strengthened in greatly during the early period of the summer window. Free agent left-back's Reinildo and Arthur Masuaku were the only defensive additions officially brought in before last week. Since then, the club have signed Omar Alderete from Getafe, and Nordi Mukiele from Paris Saint Germain, as Regis Le Bris strives to bolster his side's defence. Alderete is a specialist centre-back, while Mukiele offers versatility at the back for Sunderland as can operate as a right-back or centre-back. The desire to bring Lucumi to the Stadium of Light indicates that Le Bris knows a strong defence is crucial to remaining in the Premier League and avoiding immediate relegation back to the Championship. The Black Cats got off to a wonderful start to the 2025/26 season as the side thrashed West Ham United 3-0 on Saturday (August 16), marking a first Premier League win for the club in eight years. Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen purchased a $3.95M Highland Park home in the spring

Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen and his wife, Alisson, this past spring paid $3.95 million for a six-bedroom, newly constructed contemporary-style mansion in Highland Park. Allen, 52, was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders and then the New Orleans Saints before the Bears hired him in January as the team's defensive coordinator. He replaced Eric Washington, who was not retained after one year on the job. In Highland Park, the Allens' new house has more than 9,000 square feet of space and sits on more than an acre. Features include six full bathrooms, vaulted ceilings, arched ceilings and door openings, a two-story entryway, a two-sided linear gas fireplace with a Venetian plaster finish, eight-inch white oak floors throughout, millwork, dual staircases and a kitchen with custom cabinetry, quartzite counters, a 48-inch dual fuel Wolf range, side-by-side Sub-Zero paneled refrigerators, two paneled Cove dishwashers, a 30-inch Wolf speed oven, a custom metal hood and double rounded islands with fluted white oak details. Other features include 12-foot sliding doors, ravine views, a three-car garage and a lower level with a rec room, bar, sunken gym and a theater room. Alissa McNicholas of Compass represented the Allens in their purchase. She declined to comment.

USMNT Player Tracker: Pulisic lets his scoring talk, Sargent on a mission

Christian Pulisic's first competitive match in nearly three months was, at once, a run-of-the-mill, early-round Coppa Italia win for Milan against second-division Bari and the first of many referendums on his summer of rest. Pulisic became a lightning-rod figure in American soccer when he opted not to play for the U.S. men's national team in this summer's Concacaf Gold Cup. After debate and blowback, he explained on a CBS Sports podcast in June that, 'towards the end of the (2024-25) season, my body just started talking to me, and my mind.' He felt that taking time to recharge would prime him for a strong campaign at club level, and then the 2026 World Cup on home soil. Advertisement 'I know it's going to put me in an amazing position leading into next season,' Pulisic said of his 2025-26. And on Sunday, he opened his year with a goal. Pulisic wasn't necessarily at his sharpest in a 2-0 victory at the San Siro. But early in the second half, he led a counterattack, took in a Santi Giménez cross on the swivel and side-footed a close-range shot into the net. CHRISTIAN PULISIC WITH THE TOUCH AND TURN FOR MILAN 😮‍💨 — CBS Sports Golazo ⚽️ (@CBSSportsGolazo) August 17, 2025 Pulisic played 65 minutes as a left forward in a 3-5-2. (Countryman Yunus Musah replaced him, and played on the right wing.) Heavily involved in the Milan attack during his hour on the pitch, Pulisic offering width and floating inside, often combining with midfielder Youssouf Fofana. He took corners from both sides. He had a right-footed shot deflected just over the crossbar. He clipped the bar with a left-footed shot. He swung in some dangerous crosses. He also took a few sloppy touches and did not seem to be in top gear. But, against a Serie B side, he didn't need to be. He still got his 2025-26 season off to a promising start, and given how much has been said about and by him all summer, answering with his play is his best course of action. Next up, before the USMNT reveals its squad for September friendlies against South Korea and Japan, is Milan's Serie A opener Saturday at home against promoted Cremonese (2:45 p.m. ET, Paramount+). USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, was in Barcelona, watching Johnny Cardoso debut for Atlético Madrid against Espanyol, Argentine Pochettino's first European club as a player in the 1990s and where he later began his managerial career in 2009. Cardoso, one month after completing a $35 million move from fellow Spaniards Real Betis, went straight into Diego Simeone's starting line-up, and played 45 minutes in a 2-1 loss. (Atleti were up 1-0 at halftime when Cardoso, who'd picked up a yellow card, was replaced with club captain Koke.) He was one of several U.S. midfielders who started for their clubs in Europe this weekend. In France, Tanner Tessmann went 90 minutes in Lyon's 1-0 win over Lens. In England, Aidan Morris went 90 for a second straight week in Middlesbrough's 3-0 win over Millwall in the second-tier Championship, and Tyler Adams nearly went the distance for Bournemouth in a wild, ultimately unsuccessful Premier League-opening 4-2 loss at champions Liverpool. Advertisement Three of those four haven't yet established themselves with the national team. Tessmann and Morris were omitted from the Gold Cup squad. Cardoso, in particular, has been an enigma. While growing into a holding midfielder worthy of the fourth-most expensive USMNT transfer ever, and rising rather quickly through the club ranks, he has always underwhelmed (or been injured) on international duty. The latest stage of his climb, though, appeared to get off to a decent start. Of the four leading contenders to lead the U.S. line at next summer's World Cup, only one was fit to start this pre-World Cup club season. Folarin Balogun of Monaco missed their opener in France's Ligue 1 with a reportedly minor injury. Ricardo Pepi has 'some fluid in his knee,' according to his manager, Peter Bosz, and was held out of PSV's squad for a second consecutive weekend. Patrick Agyemang, who moved to Derby County of the Championship from Charlotte FC after starting throughout the Gold Cup, is still recovering from hernia surgery. And then there's Josh Sargent. On Tuesday night, he put Norwich City on the way to knocking fellow Championship side Watford out of the Carabao Cup. Four days later, he scored his third goal in three games to begin the league season, a fearless header on the doorstep, as Norwich beat Portsmouth, 2-1. 🇺🇸 Captain Sargent with his second of the season 🫡#EFL | @NorwichCityFC — Sky Bet Championship (@SkyBetChamp) August 16, 2025 Sargent has not scored for the national team since 2019. Pochettino left him off the Gold Cup roster, and called it 'a football decision.' For his club, though, he's become integral. 'Sarge role-models everything you want,' Norwich head coach Liam Manning said Saturday. 'He's a top person, a top professional. You see his work rate and how he leads by example. He's top class.' Advertisement A month ago, Sargent seemed on the verge of a transfer to Wolfsburg of Germany's top-flight Bundesliga. A fee upwards of $20 million had been agreed, but the player opted against the move. Now Manning, and many Norwich fans, have fingers crossed that he stays. 'I'm hoping (Norwich director of football Ben Knapper) turns his phone off so we don't get any calls,' Manning joked. Elsewhere, Chris Richards further cemented himself as a key figure at Crystal Palace. On his 50th Premier League start, he endured a clash of heads, took a Cole Palmer free kick to the face and played 90 very solid minutes in a 0-0 draw at new world champions Chelsea. In France, Mark McKenzie also went 90 for Toulouse in a dramatic 1-0 win at Nice. In Germany, Joe Scally did the same for Borussia Mönchengladbach in a narrow 3-2 win over fifth-tier Atlas in the DFB Pokal cup competition's first round. In the Netherlands, Sergiño Dest did the full 90 for PSV at Twente, and while his two-game scoring streak came to an end, it was his cross that forced an early own goal in a 2-0 win. In Scotland, Auston Trusty started Celtic's 4-1 Premier Sports Cup triumph over fellow Premiership side Falkirk, but fellow center-back Cameron Carter-Vickers was out of the squad, having previously started the first two league matches of the season. Further up the field, Tim Weah debuted for Marseille, as a halftime substitute in a 1-0 loss at Rennes. Haji Wright scored his first goal of the season for Coventry City, from the penalty spot in a 5-3 win at Derby. Brenden Aaronson and Leeds open their Premier League season Monday against Everton (3 p.m. ET, USA Network), though Aaronson isn't expected to start. And then, beginning Saturday, all of the major European leagues will be in full swing. Adams and Bournemouth host Wolves (10 a.m. ET, Peacock). Malik Tillman, who's been recovering from a 'minor strain,' could debut for Bayer Leverkusen vs. Hoffenheim (9:30 a.m. ET, ESPN+) in the Bundesliga. Advertisement On Sunday, Richards and Palace host Nottingham Forest (9 a.m. ET, Peacock). Scally and Mönchengladbach host Hamburg in their Bundesliga opener (11:30 a.m. ET, ESPN+). Weston McKennie and Juventus host Parma (2:45 p.m. ET, Paramount+). Balogun could return from his injury when Monaco face Lille. (Top photos: Getty Images) Spot the pattern.
