Speculation grows over possible Zelenskyy-Putin meeting amid peace efforts

Al Arabiya17 hours ago
In this episode of W News, presented by Leigh-Ann Gerrans, we report on the ongoing efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war. A day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and several pro-Kyiv European leaders met US President Donald Trump at the White House, Russia said any agreement on Ukraine must also address its own security concerns. There are also growing suggestions that Zelenskyy could meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
We'll also bring you the latest from Gaza, where Israel has insisted that any future deal must include the release of all hostages, after Hamas accepted a new truce proposal.

Pope Leo has asked Catholics and other religious faithful to observe a day of fasting and prayers for peace in Ukraine and other war-torn countries on Friday, August 22. 'As our Earth continues to be wounded by wars in the Holy Land, in Ukraine, and in many other regions … I invite all the faithful to live the day of August 22 in fasting and prayer,' the pontiff said during his weekly audience at the Vatican on Wednesday. Leo suggested the faithful could ask God to 'grant us peace and justice and to wipe away the tears of those who suffer because of the ongoing armed conflicts.'
