David Beckham to finally be awarded knighthood next week after years of snubs
David Beckham will finally be awarded a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honours list next week, reports The Sun.
His wife Victoria will be known as Lady Beckham as the England and Manchester United icon finally becomes a Sir after calls for years to see him given the honour. Beckham, who turned 50 back at the start of May, has been a British icon for years and had long been tipped to become another of football's Sirs.
The now Inter Miami co-owner made his name in Manchester, rising through the ranks before becoming England captain. His goal that saw the Three Lions qualify for the World Cup in 2002 remains one of his greatest moments.
His profile exceeded football and he went on to play for the likes of Real Madrid, AC Milan and LA Galaxy before calling time on his career. Beckham remains adored by the public.

Gyokeres is valued at around £65m, a figure shy of his releasee clause after the forward made an agreement with Sporting to reman last summer. With Arsenal occupied by Benjamin Sesko currently, it is reported United have financially readied themselves to do a deal. Sancho stance Jadon Sancho has no intention of wearing Manchester United colours again per ESPN, despite Chelsea footing up £5m to avoid signing him on a permanent deal. And that stance matches that of his head coach, Ruben Amorim, though the pair have yet to work together. Sancho returned five goals and 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea, helping them win the Conference League. The winger failed to set the world alight at Stamford Bridge however, leaving interest in his signature uncertain. Thomas Tuchel unhappy with lack of quality in England win against Andorra
Harry Kane finally gave the 6,950 travelling fans something to cheer about when he broke the deadlock early in the second half, turning in lively Noni Madueke's cross, but the expected goals onslaught did not follow. 'We got a little bit of it back in the first 15 minutes of the second half and then ended up in a period which was by far not good enough – lack of urgency, lack of quality and lack of energy.' Some fans made an early exit and there were more boos at the end of Tuchel's third win in charge. The England boss had named an attack-minded line-up at the RCDE Stadium – where the match was held as Andorra's new ground was not quite ready – and saw his side boss 83 per cent of first-half possession. But the Group K leaders were unable to turn dominance into a first-half opener as well-drilled, defence-minded Andorra held firm on a warm evening in Spain. Jude Bellingham saw a shot saved inside the opening minute and Curtis Jones soon saw an attempt blocked, with Ezri Konsa then denied a penalty despite being wrestled to the ground. Andorra goalkeeper Iker Alvarez looked uncertain at some set-pieces but produced some important stops, with his 14th-minute save from Madueke the most impressive. Play petered out as some England fans made an early exit, understandably preferring to get their Saturday night started in Barcelona rather than see through a dreary conclusion. There was a chance at the death but Andorra escaped, England fans letting their annoyance known but later applauding the players.
