Man Turns Thief To Feed 8 Kids, One Master Key Does It All

Why Activas? Simple. They're everywhere, they start without fuss, and Ulla had a key that could crack them open faster than you can say "kickstart."
If you walked past the Devaraja Police Station in Mysuru this week and thought, 'Hey, is this a new Honda Activa showroom?" you'd be forgiven. Rows of shiny scooters, all lined up neatly, looked ready for buyers.
Except, these weren't up for sale. They were evidence. Twenty-eight two-wheelers, mostly Honda Activas, were recovered by the Mysuru police in one of the city's more curious theft crackdowns.
Meet the Man Behind the Handlebar
The credit or rather, the blame goes to one Azmath Ulla, a native of Chamarajanagar. A solo operator with a flair for stealth and a rather large family to feed.
Ulla is accused of stealing 24 bikes within Mysuru city limits alone. His preferred target? The ever-popular Honda Activa. His weapon of choice? A master key, tailored for just this one model.
Why Activas? Simple. They're everywhere, they start without fuss, and Ulla had a key that could crack them open faster than you can say 'kickstart."
Turns out, stealing scooters was his version of moonlighting for a better life. If that sounds almost cinematic, well, the cops weren't buying the script.
They trailed his movements, pieced together complaints across the city, and tracked down the missing bikes one by one.
Thief Had a Master Key. Police Had a Master Plan.
In the end, the master key met its match in a master plan. Mysuru police not only arrested Ulla but also reunited several rightful owners with their stolen rides, 24 bikes worth ₹12.8 lakh in total.
So, next time you're at a police station and see a line of Activas, don't assume they're for test drives. Sometimes, they're just stolen dreams, parked temporarily.

Mute vagabond murdered in Delhi park, woman among 4 held

Agency: PTI New Delhi, Aug 19 (PTI) The Delhi Police arrested an 18-year-old man, a woman, and apprehended two minors in connection with the murder of a mute vagabond at the Astha Kunj Park in southeast Delhi, officials said on Tuesday. The body of the victim, identified as Dharam alias Gunga, a mute vagabond who lived near the ISKCON temple, was found on the morning of August 13, the police said. The three accused, identified as Dinesh alias Lalla (18) and two minors, had come to the park for food and drinks. The victim stared at the group for a long time, after which the accused assaulted him with fists, kicks and a stick, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Hemant Tiwari said. In a related development, the police also arrested a woman identified as Rahana (44), a resident of Shriniwaspuri, who allegedly supplied cannabis to the accused. A case was registered under Section 103 (1) (murder) of the BNS at the Amar Colony Police Station. Since there was no CCTV coverage inside the park, the team analysed footage from the cameras along Raja Dhir Singh Marg near the temple. 'A recording from around 12.40 am on August 13 showed three youths alighting from an auto and heading towards the park. Based on surveillance and inputs from informers, police laid a trap and apprehended the accused," the DCP stated. The police recovered blood-stained clothes, two mobile phones and a stick used in the crime. Dinesh, a resident of Banda in Uttar Pradesh, was previously involved in an attempt to murder case as a minor, the DCP added. During interrogation, the accused revealed that the victim allegedly kept staring at them, which provoked them. 'When the victim failed to respond to repeated questioning, the accused and his associates assaulted him, leaving him fatally injured," the officer said. Additionally, cannabis weighing 175 grams was recovered from Rahana, leading to a separate case being registered under the NDPS Act at the Amar Colony Police Station. Gunmen kill at least 13 people in mosque shooting in northwestern Nigeria

Agency: Last Updated: Abuja(Nigeria), Aug 19 (AP) Gunmen attacked a mosque in northwestern Nigeria on Tuesday morning, killing at least 13 people during morning prayers, local authorities said. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack in the town of Unguwan Mantau, in the state of Katsina, but such attacks are common in Nigeria's northwestern and north-central regions where local herders and farmers often clash over limited access to land and water. The attacks have killed and injured scores — last month, an attack in north-central Nigeria killed 150 people. The prolonged conflict has become deadlier in recent years, with authorities and analysts warning that more herdsmen are taking up arms. The state's commissioner, Nasir Mu'azu, said the army and police have deployed in the area of Unguwan Mantau to prevent further attacks, adding that gunmen often hide among the crops out in farms during the rainy season to carry out assaults on communities. He added that the mosque attack was likely in retaliation for an action Unguwan Mantau townspeople who over the weekend ambushed and killed several of the gunmen in the area. Dozens of armed groups take also advantage of the limited security presence in Nigeria's mineral-rich regions, carrying out attacks on villages and along major roads. The farmers accuse the herders, mostly of Fulani origin, of grazing their livestock on their farms and destroying their produce. The herders insist that the lands are grazing routes that were first backed by law in 1965, five years after the country gained its independence. Separately from the conflict between farming and herding communities, Nigeria is battling to contain an insurgency against Boko Haram in the northeast, where some 35,000 civilians have been killed and more than 2 million displaced, according to the United Nations. Missing MP lawyer found in UPs town on Nepal border after 12 days

Bhopal, Aug 19 (PTI) A female lawyer and civil judge aspirant, Archana Tiwari, who was reported missing while travelling on a train nearly two weeks ago, was traced in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Khiri town on Nepal border on Tuesday, a police official said. Tiwari, who was heading to Katni from Indore on the intervening nights of August 7-8 for Rakshabandhan festival, did not reach her destination and was missing since then. 'Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel finally traced Archana Tiwari in Lakhimpur-Khiri town on the Indo-Nepal border after 12 days of hectic search," SP (Railways) Rahul Kumar Lodha said. Cops are bringing her back to Bhopal and after recording her statement, details of the entire episode will be known, he said. Tiwari's kin earlier suspected that she was a victim of human trafficking and sought a CBI probe, but Lodha did not say anything about this angle. According to police, the last location of the 29-year-old lawyer was traced to Itarsi station. After that, her mobile phone was found switched off. Tiwari was a practicing lawyer at the Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. She was also preparing for a civil judge examination. She left for Katni on August 7 by the Narmada Express train, but did not reach her destination. Tiwari's family members later lodged a missing person complaint at the Rani Kamalapati GRP police station in Bhopal. Police searched for clues in areas ranging from Rani Kamalapati station to Itarsi and Katni, and scanned CCTV cameras of stations and surrounding areas. Lodha said Tiwari's last location was Itarsi station. PTI MAS RSY view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
