Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said there will be an elevated presence of law enforcement throughout Tampa, but especially in places with large crowds.
With the influx of people coming to the area, Bercaw emphasized that the roads will be backed up, so people should plan accordingly.
TAMPA - Tampa Bay leaders shared their plans on Wednesday afternoon to keep everybody safe during all the Women's Final Four events this weekend.
Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said there will be an elevated presence of law enforcement throughout Tampa, but especially in places with large crowds.
With the influx of people coming to the area, Bercaw emphasized that the roads will be backed up, so people should plan accordingly.
What they're saying
"As with any major event, we anticipate increased traffic," Bercaw said. "There will be more vehicles and pedestrians downtown, and we encourage everyone to allow extra time for planning and for traveling and coming up with alternate routes."
Law enforcement will be out in full force on foot, boat, bike, horseback and in the air.

As we move towards the summer and with high temperatures expected this weekend, Tampa Fire Chief Barbara Tripp said that people need to think about hydration when outside for long periods of time.
"We want everyone to make sure they stay hydrated and drink plenty of fluids while you're here," Tripp said.

All modes of severe weather possible across the Big Country tonight
BIG COUNTRY, Texas () – Residents across the Big Country should stay weather-aware tonight as severe thunderstorms are expected to roll through the area. Most of our region is currently under an Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather, meaning multiple storms could become intense or widespread. In simple terms, we could see all types of severe weather tonight. This includes: Heavy rainfall Strong, potentially damaging winds Large hail The possibility of an isolated tornado Stay weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings. Tuesday 6:00 storms may begin to develop, with the most significant risk of stronger storms expected in our northern counties. Tuesday 8:30 storms continue through our northern counties. Tuesday 10:30 main line of storms has formed east of Abilene along the I-20 corridor. Wednesday 3:00 storms exit the southeastern counties of the Big Country. As of 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Knox County; however, additional watches may be added in the coming hours. FOX4 Forecast: Tornado warning issued for Clay, Ray, Jackson, Lafayette counties until 3:30 p.m.
A tornado warning is now in effect for Clay, Jackson, Ray and Lafayette counties until 3:30 p.m., the National Weather Service (NWS) said. This includes Richmond, Lexington and Buckner in Missouri. A tornado warning means that a radar-confirmed tornado has been spotted. Those in the area are advised to seek shelter immediately. Around 2:30 p.m., the NWS said it was tracking a possible tornado near the Truman Sports Complex near I-435 and I-70. The latest report indicates a possible tornado moving toward Buckner. LIVE BLOG: Storm damage reports across the Kansas City metro Tornado sirens are sounding in Kansas City and several other areas across the metro. FOX4 is tracking outages across the metro, with thousands of customers currently without power. Thousands without power as severe storms move across Kansas City area A tornado watch remains in effect for parts of Kansas City and Missouri until 8 p.m. Tuesday, the NWS said. A severe thunderstorm warning and flood warning are also in effect Tuesday afternoon. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in parts of Kansas City and Kansas until 3 p.m., according to the NWS. A flash flood warning remains in effect for parts of Kansas City and Kansas until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, the NWS said. The afternoon round is building over south-central Kansas and has the potential to be stronger with some gusty wind and/or small hail.
