
Man held, RM200,000 worth of vape liquids and devices seized in GOP op
TUMPAT: The General Operations Force (GOF) seized vape liquids and devices valued about RM200,000 in an operation in Wakaf Bharu here yesterday.
A man, 30, was arrested in the operation.
GOF Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abd Hamid said it was jointly carried out with Tumpat District Council.
"We have received information about an illegal vape-selling operation on a premises in Taman SBJ Putra here," he said, adding that the man was found inside the place during the 3.30pm raid.
"The man failed to produce any valid documentation or licence from the council permitting the sale of electronic cigarettes or vape products," he added.
Nik Ros Azhan said police found 974 bottles of vape liquids and 777 vape devices.
Ros Azhan said the seized items, which have an estimated value of about RM200,000, were handed over to the council for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 4(5)(c) of the Tumpat District Council Trade, Business and Industrial Licensing By-Laws 2019.
On another matter, he said the GOF personnel seized smuggled rice worth about RM20,000 at an illegal jetty in Rantau Panjang yesterday.
However, he added that no one was arrested in the 4am operation.

'The total value of the drugs and seized vehicles amounts to RM1.08 million. Investigations revealed the suspects began engaging in these illegal activities in February this year,' he said during a press conference at the Muar District police headquarters today. Raiz added that both suspects have prior drug-related criminal records, with the father having previously served a prison sentence.
