No. 13 overall seed Coastal Carolina edges East Carolina 1-0 to win Conway Regional

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Wells Sykes singled leading off the eighth inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Sebastian Alexander and No. 13 overall seed Coastal Carolina beat East Carolina 1-0 to win the Conway Regional on Sunday.
Coastal Carolina (51-11) is making its 21st NCAA Tournament appearance as it heads to the super regionals. The Chanticleers won the College World Series in their only appearance in the event in 2016.
Coastal Carolina starter Riley Eikhoff and East Carolina's Bradley Zayac were locked in a scoreless duel into the eighth inning.
Eikhoff left with one out after issuing a walk on his 95th pitch. Dominick Carbone came in and struck out Dixon Williams and pinch-hitter Alex Bouche swinging to keep it tied. Eikhoff allowed five hits and walked three.
Zayac (1-4) threw a career-high 89 pitches in a career-best 7 1/3 innings. He left after Sykes reached, moved to second on a flyout and third on a wild pitch. Sean Jenkins allowed Alexander's sac fly.
Carbone (6-0) struck out three in getting the last five outs for the win.
The Chanticleers, who beat the Pirates 18-7 on Saturday, are 34-2 when scoring first this season.
East Carolina has made 35 NCAA Tournament appearances and won seven regional championships but never advanced to the College World Series.
The Pirates (35-27) eliminated the Florida Gators 11-4 earlier Sunday.

Lions add veteran Trystan Colon to offensive line that lost center Frank Ragnow to retirement
ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Lions have added depth on their depleted offensive line, signing veteran Trystan Colon. Detroit waived/injured cornerback Divaad Wilson on Wednesday to clear a roster spot. The Lions lost their starting center to retirement earlier this week. Frank Ragnow, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, called it a career after seven seasons with a slew of injuries. Colon has started at least one game in each of his five NFL seasons. Professional bettors, in particular, have searched out player propositions and hit the under on the totals rather than take the Thunder at -700 at BetMGM Sportsbook or -650 at DraftKings Sportsbook. Indiana is listed at +500 at BetMGM and +475 at DraftKings for the NBA Finals that open Thursday. Advertisement 'It's just not enticing to bet a money line or spread,' BetMGM trading manager Christian Cipollini said. 'That number kind of scares you off even if you do like the Pacers. You're like, 'They're +500 for a reason.'' The Thunder have won seven games this postseason by double digits, four by at least 30 points. Oklahoma City is the biggest favorite since Golden State in 2018, according to That Warriors team, led by Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, was listed at -1075 and swept Cleveland and LeBron James. The Thunder franchise won its only previous title in 1979, when it was in Seattle and known as the SuperSonics. The team relocated to Oklahoma City in 2008. Pacers' dynanic duo Pascal Siakam edged teammate Tyrese Haliburton to win the Eastern Conference Finals MVP when Indiana beat New York, which caused some debate about whether it went to the right player. Hitting the road One reason Marshall believed the Pacers can make this a competitive series is that they play so well away from home — and how poorly the Thunder can play outside their comfort zone. Indiana is 6-2 on the road, winning all three games in the Eastern Conference semifinals at top-seeded Cleveland and taking two at Madison Square Garden to eliminate the Knicks. The Thunder are 0-7 against the point spread in road playoff games, but have the home-court advantage. Oklahoma City is favored at BetMGM by 9 1/2 points in Game 1. Advertisement 'It's two different teams at home and on the road,' Marshall said. 'It's pretty stark." Hoping for the Thunder Given that most of the futures money and series betting have been on Oklahoma City, it would seem counterintuitive for a sportsbook to want the Thunder to win the championship. But that's exactly the situation at BetMGM, which has priced the Thunder in a way throughout the season and playoffs to make it worthwhile.
