Reliant Home Run Derby with Dallas Cowboys Knocks it Out of the Park Surpassing $1 Million for DFW Nonprofits
With thousands of fans cheering them on, the Dallas Cowboys stepped up to the plate and swung for the fences at the 12th annual Reliant Home Run Derby. The result: Reliant is donating $113,700 to 22 North Texas nonprofits, surpassing $1 million in total charitable support since the charity event began in 2012.

The Dallas Cowboys join electricity provider Reliant to present a check donation to The Salvation Army during the 12th annual Reliant Home Run Derby on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 in Frisco, Texas. Reliant donated $113,700 in total to 22 local charities during the event, surpassing $1 million in charitable support since the event began in 2012.

Cowboys players took turns at bat, with each hit and home run earning a donation from Reliant, raising a total of $76,600 to benefit The Salvation Army of North Texas. Cowboys punter Bryan Anger was named the 2025 Reliant Home Run Derby champion with $13,200 raised and eight home runs. The full Dallas Cowboys lineup included:
Majors Paul and Dawn McFarland, Area Commanders for The Salvation Army of North Texas, and local students involved with The Salvation Army attended the event. One deserving student from The Salvation Army's Gene and Jerry Jones Family Youth Education Town in Arlington also earned the opportunity to throw out the first pitch to a Cowboys player.

Before the Cowboys took to the diamond, Reliant invited local media to try their hand at bat for a good cause in the ninth annual Reliant Media League, which featured 11 reporters from across DFW. Together they raised a total of $27,100 for local North Texas charities.

3 things to watch in Cowboys-Ravens preseason matchup include the battle for backup QB
The Dallas Cowboys may have fallen to the Los Angeles Rams in their first preseason game, but that's in the rearview mirror now. The joint practice just days before the game certainly impacted who saw action last Saturday, but observers were able to get a glimpse of the preseason process for new head coach Brian Schottenheimer. He chose to throw the ball early and often instead of relying on the running game he had preached for months, because he wanted to get quarterback Joe Milton III some work. When looking for things to watch for when Dallas plays the Baltimore Ravens this Saturday, the actions of the past inform the future. Can Dallas clean up the penalties? The Cowboys committed 11 penalties for 83 yards against Los Angeles, including two consecutive plays where Asim Richards was flagged for illegal formation. The coaching staff has to get players to clean up these types of penalties. There is a difference between a pass interference penalty and a false start or formation penalty; mistakes of aggression are acceptable, mistakes of concentration are not. Self-inflicted mistakes have hurt Dallas over the last few seasons, and the new coaches need to help set a new standard by addressing these issues and cleaning them up. How much improvement can Joe Milton show? Milton showcased the holes in his game that led to his fall to the sixth round in the 2024 draft, despite him being a stellar athlete with one of the strongest arms in the league. His touch and ability to read defenses continues to be a work in progress. Completing 17 of 29 passes for 143 yards with one touchdown and one interception isn't good enough. Milton must demonstrate he can learn from his poor performance, adjust, and play better against the Ravens. His final drive-plus was encouraging, and leaves something to build on in this next contest. Can the defense tackle? Dallas missed 19 tackles in the first preseason game. Nineteen. The performance forced Schottenheimer to emphasize tackling throughout the week in practice. Defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus has a defense that works best when the unit rallies to the ball and makes tackles quickly. Nothing will bring down his scheme quicker than players missing tackles. A young defense like what Dallas will deploy can be imperfect, but it has to show an ability to step up when challenged. The Dallas Cowboys have concluded their final West Coast practice of the 2025 calendar, and they are set to pack up and return to Texas in advance of their second preseason game. The Baltimore Ravens will meet them in Arlington for a Saturday night matchup, but aside from a walkthrough and some media availability on Thursday, it's a wrap on yet another four-week stint on Oxnard, CA. Wednesday's practice was highlighted by a sensational interception by a defensive lineman, giving some hints as far as what can be expected once the games count, as the Cowboys' new coaching staff continues to commit to the hide-and-no-seek mantra when it comes to what they'll reveal during the exhibition season. Here are the biggest takeaways from the final training camp practice of 2025. Sam Williams' Pick-6 Late in practice, working on goal-line situations, Dak Prescott was intercepted by defensive end Sam Williams. Williams returned the interception the entire length of the field for a Practice Pick-6. That's Dante Fowler (13) lined up wide of right tackle Terence Steele. Rookie DE Donovan Ezeiruaku (41) is standing up in the C gap and DT Solomon Thomas in the A gap.
