King cobra rescued in Miag-ao, Iloilo
The king cobra had just devoured reportedly another snake when it was rescued in Barangay Mat-y, Miag-ao on July 7, 2025.
The king cobra was placed inside a big empty plastic water bottle.
The snake was turned over to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO).
'Actually tinatawag yan na king cobra kasi ang kanyang kinakain ay tulad niyang ahas,' said Isidro Mosura, officer in charge of Miag-ao MENRO.
The king cobra has a length of about three meters. It was found in a land property owned by a university.
According to a social media post of Miag-ao MENRO, the king cobra is among Ophiophagus species which is endemic to Panay Island.
Mosura said that the said species abound in Panay Island. It is referred to locally as 'manogwason, managwason, panogwason,' and 'baraw.'
The king cobra's niche are the forests, sugarcane fields, and places where water abounds.
It is the nature of the king cobra, Mosura said, to avoid human beings. But it becomes dangerous only when cornered.
Mosura has advised the public to avoid getting near a king cobra, or to maintain a safe distance of not less than three meters.
He urged the public to allow the king cobra to slither away.
'Huwag kang gumalaw upang hindi siya ma-provoke na tuklawin ka,' Mosura added.
In case of an injury at the strike of a king cobra, the patient must seek immediate medical attention, as king cobras are venomous.
Miag-ao MENRO turned over the king cobra to the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in the Municipality of Guimbal for appropriate care.

📹Neymar speaks out after Santos humiliation and worst defeat of his career
The 6-0 thrashing of Santos by Vasco at MorumBIS this Sunday (17th) became a landmark in the Brasileirão and also in Neymar's career. The number 10 star had never left the field with such a heavy defeat in an official match. + Neymar leaves the field in tears and social media is SHOCKED by the rout + Cleber Xavier can't withstand the humiliating defeat and is fired from Santos After the match, Neymar spoke in the stadium's mixed zone. Clearly shaken, the forward swore and warned: "If you're (in the group) going to do this, you don't even need to show up again." "It was shit, a disgrace to do this kind of thing wearing the Santos shirt. Everyone needs to put their head on the pillow, go home, and think about what they want to do. Because, with today's attitude, if we're going to do what we did today, you don't even need to show up on Wednesday" The 6-0 is the biggest defeat suffered by Santos in a match against Vasco. Before, only 5-1 for each side. It was also the biggest away win for the "Gigante da Colina" in the first division of the Brazilian Championship. It was also the third worst defeat for a home team in the Brasileirão's points system era (since 2003). This article was translated into English by Artificial Intelligence. Rahm edges Niemann for LIV season title as Munoz wins at Indy
Spain's Jon Rahm captured his second consecutive LIV Golf season crown on Sunday, shooting an 11-under par 60 before losing a playoff to Colombia's Sebastian Munoz at LIV Golf Indianapolis. Munoz birdied the first playoff hole to beat Rahm for the Indy title after both finished on 22-under 191 through all 54 holes at Chatham Hills in the Saudi-backed series' last individual event of the year. "First time I've ever beat him, so really proud of that and happy I got to go home with the trophy," Munoz said. But Rahm's result, a second playoff loss in as many weeks, was enough to edge Chile's Joaquin Niemann in the season points chase for the second year in a row, delivering heartbreak on the campaign's last day as he did in 2024. "Still slightly bittersweet," Rahm said. "I know I'm supposed to be happy. It's a great moment. But it just doesn't feel great to finish the year losing two playoffs. "I'm sure over time I'll get over that and I really appreciate what I've done this year." Rahm won the season title without winning any LIV event while Niemann took titles this year in Adelaide, Singapore, Mexico City, Virginia and Britain. "It sucks," Niemann said. "I started playing my best golf on the back nine, which I'm proud of, but at the end of the day, the putts didn't drop, and it wasn't enough. It's kind of hard to swallow." Rahm, a Masters and US Open champion, wasn't overjoyed about a season crown without a win all year. "To be able to win the season without actually winning a tournament, I know eventually I'll be proud of that. Right now it's slightly more something I'm going to suffer over a little bit more, and it may never be replicated," Rahm said. "You need a lot of coincidences to go on exactly with the year Joaquín had. He's won five times. He has played incredible golf. One could argue he was probably the more deserving guy to win this. But we have the points system we have and somehow, I don't know how, I managed to pull through and get it done." Rahm captured $18 million for claiming the season crown with Niemann taking $8 million for his runner-up season finish after sharing fourth at Indy on 196 with a closing 66. Munoz, who battled two-time major winner Dustin Johnson for the lead most of the day, birdied the 17th and 18th holes in regulation and the 18th again in the playoff to win his first title since the 2019 PGA Tour Sanderson Farms Championship. "We came today to try and take care of business," Munoz said. "Of course Jon shot 10-under so you go from one legend to another one. It was pretty cool. Awesome experience. Making birdie two times in a row (at 18), it's undescribable." Munoz battled for the victory after firing a 59 on Friday, only the third sub-60 round in LIV history. "I feel really proud of myself," he said. "It has been a long time coming, six years since my last win, and it's awesome right now." A severe overnight storm toppled trees and swamped fairways, delaying the shotgun start by 55 minutes, with players using lift, clean and place rules on the rain-softened course. - Englishmen avoid drop - England's Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter avoided being dumped from LIV for 2026, finishing in the season's top 48 in points to escape the relegation zone. Westwood birdied four of his first five holes while Poulter birdied four of his last five to avoid the drop, each finishing on 201. Sweden's Henrik Stenson was dropped, however, after missing a birdie putt at the 18th that would have seen him avoid relegation at Poulter's expense. Niemann's Torque won the Indy team title, it's first triumph since 2023, but Rahm's Legion XIII holds the top seeding for next week's LIV Team Championship. js/bb

Major league-worst Rockies rally again to beat the Diamondbacks, 6-5
DENVER (AP) — Ryan Ritter and Mickey Moniak hit two-run singles in the seventh inning and the Colorado Rockies held on to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5 on Sunday. Major league-worst Colorado rallied late for the second consecutive game and won the final three games of four-game series. The Rockies are 35-89. Jake Woodford (0-3) gave up a leadoff single and hit the next two batters, and singles by Ritter and Moniak gave the Rockies a 5-4 lead. Braxton Fulford had an RBI double in the eighth. Anthony Molina (1-1) pitched a scoreless inning and Juan Mejia finished for his first save for Colorado. With runners on second and third in the ninth, Mejia made a leaping catch of Ketel Marte's popup and held onto the ball despite colliding with first baseman Warming Bernabel to end the game. Colorado spoiled Nabil Crismatt's first start since Aug. 10, 2022, with San Diego. He retired the first 11 batters on Sunday before Ezquiel Tovar's two-out single in the fourth and gave up a two-out RBI single to Orlando Arcia in the fifth. Crismatt tied a career high in strikeouts (five) and innings but was denied his first win in 17 months when the Rockies rallied in the seventh. The Diamondbacks couldn't score against Antonio Senzatela but rallied in the sixth off Luis Peralta. Corbin Carroll led off with a 474-homer to the second deck in right, his 27th, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. followed with his 16th.
