Filippo Inzaghi joins Palermo after Pisa promotion
Filippo Inzaghi has been appointed manager of Serie B side Palermo weeks after winning promotion to the Italian top flight with Pisa.Inzaghi - older brother of former Inter Milan boss Simone - left Pisa by mutual consent on Friday despite securing promotion to Serie A in his only season in charge.On Tuesday, Palermo, who finished eighth last season and lost in the first round of the promotion play-offs, confirmed the appointment of the former Italy striker on a "multi-year contract".The 51-year-old spent much of his playing career at Juventus and AC Milan, winning two Serie A titles and two Champions League crowns at the latter, and was part of the Azzurri squad that won the 2006 World Cup.
Inzaghi is now tasked with returning Palermo - part of the same City Football Group ownership group as Manchester City - to the top flight for the first time since 2017.Inzaghi joined Pisa in 2024 and led them to a second-place finish and a return to Serie A after a 34-year absence.He began his managerial career at AC Milan in 2014, two years after he retired from playing for the Rossoneri.He also oversaw Venezia's promotion from the third tier in 2017, before taking Benevento to Serie A in 2020.Inzaghi has never managed a club for more than two seasons, and joins Palermo two weeks after his brother left Inter Milan to coach Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

That example angered Dybala who sought to silence his opponent during the derby, which Roma won 1-0, in more ways than one. 'It made me really angry, so I went to the pitch to look for him. We said everything. 'Then I remembered that they had just given me the shin guard with the photo of the World Cup [won against France in 2022], and I showed it to him. He didn't say anything.' The already-explosive Rome derby next season is bound to have some added spice next season.

England players are conscious of the dangers of looking at social media during Euro 2025, with senior figures in the Lionesses squad ready to offer support to younger members of the team if they face hateful comments online. It comes after Katie Boulter, the British No 2 tennis player, revealed that she had received death threats and suffered abuse from online trolls after defeats, with Boulter adding that it has become the 'norm' for players to have their inboxes flooded with negative comments. Striker Alessia Russo says she will come off Instagram during the tournament after taking the decision to step away from her social media apps during the last Women's World Cup. Conor McGregor brutally floored a partygoer with two punches at the infamous Pacha nightclub in Ibiza. The disgraced fighter was seen hitting the reveller on the Spanish party island as he boozed until the early hours on Tuesday morning. The 36-year-old was seen in conversation with a man before putting his arm around his shoulders and lashing out as music continues to loudly blare. He speaks to the man for a few seconds before hitting him with his left hand while holding a glass of alcohol in his right. McGregor, a former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion, then lands another blow just seconds later to leave the reveller on the floor. The Irishman has not fought since 2021 and is protected from his victim by his entourage after flooring him. One party-goer told The Sun: 'Clearly something's been said to annoy him and he's reacted very badly. 'The guy seemed to fall to the floor, and his mates came to pick him up and get him away. 'There [didn't appear to be any] consequences for Conor, but the guy he punched was taken away and I didn't see him again.' The violent scrap came just hours after McGregor was seen partying with Katie Price at Wayne Lineker's O Beach. McGregor sported red shorts, a cap and sun glasses while puffing on a cigar and playing up to the crowds at a wild day time party. Price shared a picture of the pair on her Instagram page with the caption: 'You legend,' after McGregor tagged her in his own story and said: 'Forever'.
