One of the Best Resorts in Mexico Will Reopen This Fall After a Stunning Renovation

Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal will reopen on October 1 after a multiyear, resort-wide renovation.
The hotel, located on a prime stretch of beachfront in Cabo San Lucas, is currently closed for the update of its 112 guest rooms, suites, casitas, and villas, helmed by Paul Duesling Partners, the resort's original designer. The accommodations will be enhanced with a palette of light neutrals, custom furnishings crafted in Mexico, and an art collection highlighting local talent, including a mural by multidisciplinary artist Tanya Talamante.
'The reimagination of Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal was done thoughtfully to ensure a singularly authentic luxury experience that gives a nod to both the resort's impressive legacy as well as the heritage and traditions of Mexican culture,' said Maria Valeria Nowotny, vice president of operations for the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America at Hilton in a press release, shared with Travel + Leisure.
The multiyear transformation started in 2022 with enhancements to the restaurants and culinary program. Since then, the hotel has added Agave Study at Peacock Alley, celebrating Mexico's agave spirit-making traditions, Neutral Coffee Lab, offering local and international coffee varieties, and Travesía, a nine-course taco tasting experience. Don Manuel's, the resort's signature restaurant, also underwent a glow-up and now serves an elevated take on traditional Mexican flavors, prepared with fresh local ingredients.
Guests can still dine at the dramatic cliffside El Farallon, where the menu highlights the freshest catch of the day. For a beachfront al fresco lunch or an afternoon cocktail and snack, Crudo features ceviche, sushi, and oysters with an ocean view. The El Farallon cliffside restaurant.

The salon at the Waldorf Astoria Spa has also undergone a refresh. And the resort will continue its three-day Alo Moves retreats post-renovation. Wellness-focused guests can still enjoy the spa's saltwater meditation pool and holistic treatments, based on the moon's phases.
Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal is a favorite of T+L readers, securing a spot among the top 10 best resorts in Mexico at the 2025 World's Best Awards.
Nightly rates at the resort start from $1,214. You can book your stay at waldorfastorialoscabospedregal.com

JBS sees US cattle cycle improving from late 2027

By Ana Mano SAO PAULO (Reuters) -U.S.-based beef-packers will continue to reel from low cattle availability for about three or four quarters, with gradual improvements of the U.S. cattle herd happening gradually from late 2027, JBS managers said on Thursday. In remarks made after releasing second quarter results, the world's largest meat company said other factors affecting its U.S. beef operation, which accounts for about a third of its net sales, include the U.S. closure of its border with Mexico in May due to a flesh-eating parasite. "The Mexican situation is obviously relevant," said Wesley Batista Jr, who leads JBS' U.S. operations. The Mexican and the U.S. governments are in talks for potentially reopening the border, he said, estimating around 1.1 million head of feeder cattle cannot go through at this point. Other operating challenges in the U.S. for the company include the pork business, which has been heavily hit since U.S. President Donald Trump started a trade war with Beijing. Restrictions on Brazilian chicken exports from China and the European Union, enforced since May after a bird flu outbreak in the world's largest poultry exporter, are also weighing on JBS, which in June created a dual U.S.-Brazil listing. CEO Gilberto Tomazoni estimated that if sanitary trade barriers are not removed, earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of its Brazil Seara prepared foods division may be impacted by around 1.5%. Seara's margins, however, remained in the double digits despite bird flu-related disruptions in the second quarter. Bolstered also by strong results from JBS' poultry processor Pilgrims Pride, the firm, now listed in New York, posted record overall net sales of $21 billion while net profit rose nearly 61% to $528.1 million in the second quarter. This City Was Just Named the Most Accessible in the U.S.

Everyone deserves to explore the world. But that's an ideal that's simply harder for some, especially when they're trying to navigate cities without wide sidewalks and ramps in a wheelchair, too many stairs without a handrail, or getting from point A to B without the aid of public transportation. That said, there are destinations that are welcoming and accessible to all who are leading the pack—and Wander is here to celebrate them. "At Wander, we understand that true luxury means inclusive travel experiences," the company shared in its new study looking into the most accessible destinations across the U.S. To help travelers find the most accessible destinations in the U.S., it first created a seed list of the nation's top cities, then analyzed each on its "number of wheelchair-accessible attractions, walkability, reliable public transport, and internet connectivity." It gathered this data from companies like GetYourGuide, AllTrails, Story Maps, Walk Score, and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. After looking at all that information, it named Detroit, Michigan, the most accessible city in the U.S., scoring a whopping 9.7 out of 10. "Detroit stands out as the most accessible U.S. city based on a combination of key factors, despite its relatively small size," the team shared in the findings. "Detroit earned a perfect record on ADA compliance for public rail stations, with zero percent of stations being inaccessible, indicating full access for individuals with mobility challenges. Additionally, the city has 5.53 public transport stations per 100,000 people, providing decent transit options to its residents." It noted that the city's share of wheelchair-accessible attractions is lower than in other destinations around the U.S., at just 16.67 percent; however, this was balanced out by its high number of wheelchair-accessible outdoor trails, making the city "one of the best options nationwide for inclusive outdoor activities." Coming in a close second is Baltimore, Maryland, which scored a 9.61 out of 10 thanks to its "many accessible attractions and strong infrastructure for people with disabilities." The website added that it's also a relatively walkable city, scoring a 64 out of 100, "making it easier for individuals using mobility aids to navigate the city safely on foot." Rounding out the top three is Seattle, which scored a 9.55 out of 10. It won high praise thanks to its fantastic public transportation and plentiful accessible public spaces. "Over a quarter of its walking trails are wheelchair accessible (31 out of 119), making Seattle one of the more outdoor-accessible spots," they added. "The focus on green space and nature access makes the city a great option for residents and tourists alike." Two Texas cities, Houston and Dallas, took home the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively.
