Israel-Iran war: IDF strikes at least 20 military sites using fighter jets as conflict intensifies

West Australian4 hours ago

The Israeli Defence Force has confirmed it struck more than 20 military targets in the heart of Iran using 60 fighter jets, as the growing conflict in the region enters its seventh day.
In a post on X, the IDF said it hit key nuclear and missile sites across Tehran, including uranium enrichment and centrifuge sites, plus missile and air defence production facilities.
The IDF also confirmed it targeted research and development sites for Iran's nuclear weapons project.
'These sites fuel Iran's weapons program and attacks on Israeli civilians,' the IDF wrote.
'The IDF will continue targeting threats to defend Israeli civilians.'
In a separate statement, the IDF asserted that the sites struck were 'designated to allow the Iranian regime to expand the scale and pace of its uranium enrichment purpose of developing nuclear weapons.'
According to the IDF, the strikes specifically targeted 'factories producing raw materials and components for missile assembly, as well as sites for the production of Iran's air defense systems'.
The latest wave of attacks follows reports that Iran has downed its first Israeli aircraft since the conflict began, confirming the destruction of a Hermes 900 long-endurance tactical UAV over Isfahan Province earlier this week.
Video released by Iranian state media appears to corroborate the claim, showing debris consistent with the unique structure and markings of the Israeli-manufactured drone.

Dale Byrne, 42, appeared at Dandenong Magistrates Court, in Melbourne's south-east, today after being charged with two commonwealth offences in March. He is on bail and the court was told his conditions include that he cannot come within 100 metres of state or federal politicians, including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. P ( Dean Sewell) Court documents revealed Byrne is charged with threatening "to cause serious harm to a Commonwealth Official, namely Australian Prime Minister, the Honourable Anthony Albanese" on February 7. This charge, if proven, carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison, the documents say. The second charge alleges Byrne used a carriage service "in a manner that a reasonable person would regard as menacing" when he made an X post "towards" the prime minister. A commonwealth prosecutor asked for the media's application for access to charges to be decided at the next hearing "so the charges can be finalised once there's been discussions with defence". However, Magistrate Fran Medina approved their release under the Opens Courts Act and noted the charges were only allegations at this stage. She asked media to state the two offences were the "subject of negotiation". The Australian Federal Police initially alleged the man was charged with making death threats and anti-Semitic comments to a commonwealth member of parliament. "The AFP will allege the man used social media to contact a Commonwealth MP multiple times between 7 January, 2025, and 19 February, 2025, making death threats and anti-Semitic comments," it said at the time he was charged on March 18. None of these details were aired during a brief hearing this morning, where upcoming dates were set to allow the parties time to negotiate. Byrne's bail was extended and he will return to court on July 10. national New South Wales police Sydney Canberra Anthony Albanese CONTACT US
