But one of eight eggs laid in January by his long-term partner Sweet Pea hatched just in time for Father's Day after 128 days of incubation.
The hatchling was born at Zoo Miami in Florida on June 4.
It is the first Galapagos tortoise to be bred there.
The zoo is now hoping Guinness World Records will recognise Goliath as the oldest first-time dad.

With Sweet Pea possibly aged 100, she may be the oldest first-time mum too.
Goliath is believed to have hatched in the Galapagos around 1890.
He was acquired by New York's Bronx Zoo in 1929 before moving to Zoo Miami in 1981.

Four-bed house listed for £400K looks perfectly normal from the outside – but it's hiding a disgusting secret
Even just getting around the house is almost impossible TAKE A LOO-K TAKE A LOO-K Four-bed house listed for £400K looks perfectly normal from the outside – but it's hiding a disgusting secret A SEEMINGLY normal house has hit the market for £400,000 but it's hiding a disgusting secret. Things take a turn for the worse in the four-bed house located in Chippenham, Wiltshire, as soon as you open the door. 6 The house looks very normal on the outside Credit: Jam Press/Auction House London 6 However, inside, there are mountains of trash Credit: Jam Press/Auction House London 6 The disgusting bathroom is also in a terrible state Credit: Jam Press/Auction House London From the outside, the detached home is picture-perfect. With wide windows and a surrounding garden, it's easy to imagine life in the property. However, everything changes when you open the door. Throughout the corridors and the kitchen lie mountains of rubbish. The layers of trash - which includes old posters and cardboard boxes - are so high that it is difficult to simply pass through the home. However, things take a turn for the worse when you open the door to the bathroom. The sink is piled high with washing and the toilet is swamped with overflowing waste. Huge cobwebs hang between the walls and a dead plant dangles from the windowsill. Advertised on Rightmove, the four-bed home is on sale for £395,000 - despite its shortcomings. The house's description states: 'The property comprises a four bedroom detached house arranging over ground and first floors. Flat that appeared in iconic Brit TV show being auctioned for just £190K – do YOU recognise it? 'The property requires a program of refurbishment.' The listing comes after another four-bed home with a secret went on sale in Nottingham. Once home to the romantic poet Lord Byron, the Grade-II listed home is on sale for £850,000. The stunning property even has a plaque on the front of the house dedicated to Byron. The influential writer, who was one of the three people on holiday with Mary Shelley when she wrote the gothic classic Frankenstein, lived in the home between the ages of 10 and 12. However, the truly amazing parts of the house are hidden underground. An incredible series of labyrinthian caves lurk beneath the property. The underground space has lighting, electricity and heating too allowing you to make good use of the impressive rooms. 6 The home is on sale for £395,000 Credit: Jam Press/Auction House London 6 Rightmove says that the house needs a 'program of refurbishment' Credit: Jam Press/Auction House London

I was so smug to bag a £1k designer gown for £60 on Vinted – but the item I received was ‘terrible' & not even close
A SHOPPER who thought she had bagged a designer bargain on Vinted was left horrified when she opened her parcel to find cheap fake eyelashes. Faye Gould, from Essex, had spent months scrolling through wedding guest dresses on the app when she came across a glittering Retrofête gown worth around £1,000. 8 Faye Gould thought she had bagged a designer dress on Vinted - but was scammed Credit: Jam Press/Faye Gould 8 She was amazed to find a £1,000 glittering Retrofête gown being sold for just £60 Credit: Jam Press/Faye Gould 8 She snapped up what she thought was a bargain find Credit: Jam Press/Faye Gould Listed at just £60 on resale site, the deal looked too good to miss – and she snapped the stunning gown up within minutes. Convinced the 26-year-old had beaten other buyers to the luxury frock, Faye even messaged her family and friends bragging about her savvy find. And when the seller marked the item as shipped a few days later, the recruitment consultant felt sure her luck was in. But excitement soon turned to disbelief when the package dropped through her letterbox. Instead of the heavy maxi dress she was expecting, the lightweight parcel contained nothing but a handful of cheap false eyelashes. Faye shared: 'I was excited when I saw the listing for that price. 'I was smug and couldn't wait for it to arrive. 'But as soon as the parcel arrived, I felt disappointed because it was small enough to fit through my letterbox. 'It was a tiny package, and I knew instantly that it wasn't going to be the dress. 'Initially, I was laughing in pure shock that it had happened. I've made £5.6k on Vinted and here are the 7 items you need to upload now to make cash quick - white maxi skirts will sell instantly for a start 'I was with my boyfriend when I opened the parcel to see some cheap, terribly made fake eye lashes. 'Part of me doubted the item with the price it was listed at. 'I was expecting it to be cancelled because she might have left a '0' off the end of the price. 'But when it got sent, I had hopes it was real.' Shocked and embarrassed, Faye quickly realised she had been scammed. 8 The dress as it was advertised on Vinted by the seller Credit: Jam Press/Faye Gould 8 When Faye opened her parcel, she found a handful of cheap false eyelashes Credit: Jam Press/Faye Gould BLOCKED BY SELLER To make matters worse, when she tried to message the seller, she discovered she had already been blocked. A name on an old postage label suggested she wasn't the first victim, prompting fears the fraudster had tricked other unsuspecting shoppers in the same way. Faye contacted Vinted with evidence and they quickly refunded her, but says the ordeal has left her wary of 'too good to be true' deals she sees on TikTok and resale apps. 8 Vinted refunded her purchase Credit: Jam Press/Faye Gould 8 Faye is now wary of scammers and advises buying from people with good reviews Credit: Jam Press/Faye Gould She added: 'Once I opened the packet, I checked the seller's page straight away to message her and saw that I was blocked. 'There was also a label before mine that had been stuck to the parcel with a lady's name, also from Essex. 'Initially I thought it could have been her and she reused the packaging, but thinking about it more, she's probably someone who has unfortunately been scammed. 'I raised an issue with the item that had been delivered, providing all the evidence showing that the wrong item had arrived. 'Luckily, Vinted were really helpful and refunded my money quickly. 'I got my money back without any problems. 'I would recommend being careful when buying from anyone with no reviews, and to always check the other listings they have. 'If they don't have any, it's probably a scam.' Vinted has been approached for comment. 8 Faye said the seller blocked her after she complained Credit: Jam Press/Faye Gould
