Nico Rosberg calls out Danica Patrick live on Sky Sports F1 at Canadian GP
The Canadian Grand Prix track sparked debate between Sky Sports F1 colleagues Danica Patrick and Nico Rosberg during the broadcaster's live coverage of the Montreal event
Danica Patrick was told she was wrong about the Canadian Grand Prix track by her colleague Nico Rosberg. The German's comment came during the live Sky Sports broadcast from Montreal as former IndyCar and NASCAR driver Patrick spoke about the circuit.
The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a fans' favourite when it comes to all the different circuits visited by Formula 1 over the course of a season. And it is not for the faint-hearted in places, with some notoriously difficult sections including the famous 'Wall of Champions' at the final corner.
Despite that, Patrick claimed that it is "not a super challenging track". She said: "Montreal is a fun track, but it's not the most complicated. As long as you get get the balance right, you get it to change directions, just be able to get on the throttle coming off, you can put it together here."
But that was not a view shared by he Sky Sports colleague Rosberg. And the 2016 F1 champion was quick to make that known as he provided the complete opposite view of a circuit he knows very well from his racing days.
Rosberg replied: "I have to disagree ever so slightly there, Danica. Montreal is one of the hardest tracks of the year, because there's so many bumps and at every kerb you have to hit it so perfectly.
"It's a real driver's track, which is why Lewis Hamilton has won all his records here and even Max Verstappen has won all the last races, because the driver can really shine here." In response, Patrick admitted that "there is a huge penalty for not being precise and that's hitting the wall."
That exchange came after Patrick had made a similar claim a day earlier on the Sky broadcast from Friday's action. While her claim went unchallenged that time, colleague Martin Brundle seemed to briefly double-take at what he had just heard before simply staring into the camera.
Patrick has become a regular pundit on Sky's F1 coverage, appearing several times per season as part of the broadcaster's rotating pool of on-screen talent. But her appearances often come with some criticism as she has become a divisive figure because of her political views.
She is a public supporter of Donald Trump, having endorsed his successful run for the US Presidency last year. Patrick was also previously in a relationship with NFL superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers having dated for more than two years until they split in summer 2020.
And last month she claimed during a podcast appearance that Rodgers had been "emotionally abusive". She said: "The nature of the relationship was emotionally abusive, so that wore me down to nothing... He leaves a trail of blood. I don't think I'm saying too much earth-shattering stuff – there's been enough out there."

Nico Rosberg implores nobody to accept Red Bull seat alongside Max Verstappen
Nico Rosberg believes Isack Hadjar – or any driver – should not accept the second F1 seat at Red Bull due to Max Verstappen 's dominance at the team. Verstappen has had six teammates during his 10 seasons at Red Bull, with the likes of Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon all falling short of the Dutchman. Sergio Perez was axed at the end of last season after three years, while Liam Lawson was dropped after just the first two races of this season. Yuki Tsunoda is his current teammate, but the Japanese driver is struggling for performance and consistency. Racing Bulls rookie Isack Hadjar, who has shone in his first nine races in F1, has been linked with a rapid promotion to Red Bull – but Rosberg has implored the young Frenchman to reject any future approach. 'You just say no, you do not go next to Max Verstappen,' Rosberg told Sky Sports F1, in Saturday's coverage of the Canadian Grand Prix. 'Look at Albon, how he's performing against Sainz [at Williams], race-winner class, beating him this year. He was also six-tenths off Max every time. 'It doesn't matter, you just say no.' Indeed, Hadjar admitted on Thursday that he was 'not ready' for the senior Red Bull outfit. 'I'm just nine races in, and it looks to be complicated when I look at Yuki and Liam, who are very quality drivers,' he said. 'So no, I'm not very ready.' Verstappen qualified second on the grid for Sunday's Canadian GP, with Hadjar starting in 12th after receiving a three-place grid drop due to impeding Carlos Sainz in qualifying. Yet Tsunoda will start from the back of the grid after being handed a 10-place grid penalty as a result of a red flag infringement.

Former Premier League star and ex-Sky Sports pundit 'in advanced talks to replace Thomas Frank at Brentford'
Brentford are reportedly in advanced talks with with a member of their coaching staff to replace Thomas Frank as manager. Frank has been confirmed as Tottenham 's new head coach on a three-year contract. He moves across London after nine years at Brentford to succeed Ange Postecoglou, sacked earlier this month, 16 days after his team won the Europa League. The departure of Frank has left the Bees searching for a new boss and it looks as if that person could come from within. Keith Andrews is the man they have their eye on following his work as a set-piece coach, according to The Independent. Andrew is a well respected figure behind the scenes at Brentford and the report adds that he is already looking for backroom staff. The 44-year-old is a former Premier League player, playing for the likes of Wolves, Brighton, Bolton and Blackburn during his career. He also shone as a pundit for Sky Sports on EFL Games before joining Frank's team. The appointment of Andrews would see the continuation of a familiar pattern of promoting from within with Frank succeeding Dean Smith after his role as his assistant. Ex-Brentford first-team assistant coach Justin Cochrane believed to be leading the running for the job to replace Frank, but he has now followed the Dane to Spurs. Brentford hailed the appointment of Andrews last summer in the specialist role, with director of football Phil Giles stating at the time: 'Whilst he has had more wide-ranging coaching roles in the past, focusing on set-pieces as a specialism is something which we think he has the qualities to do extremely well. 'I'm sure that our staff can help him develop as a coach, too. Set-pieces are an important part of what we do well and I'm sure we'll maintain those standards with Keith in charge.'
