Coronation Street fans ‘work out' what really happened to Lisa's ex Becky

Metroa day ago

Fans of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) in Coronation Street are continuing to learn small pieces of information about her ex partner Becky.
The local detective, who is in a relationship with Carla Connor (Alison King), was previously with her colleague Becky. The character, who we've never met, died on duty.
Swain previously explained how Becky had been chasing an assailant, who jumped into a getaway car and mowed her down, with Becky dying at the scene.
Lisa reflected on Becky's death once more recently, when dedicated police officer Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) was also killed on duty.
Craig was attacked by Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton), who had found out about Brody (Ryan Mulvey) not being his son shortly before. Craig attempted to gain control of the intense moment, but Mick hit him with a cricket bat, and he died in hospital.
This week, Lisa told Carla more about Becky's life as a copper. She revealed that, before her death, Becky was being investigated by the anti-corruption unit, and Lisa was keen to keep that information from Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin).
Lisa emotionally opened up about how she and Becky had fought over the allegations the day Becky was killed, and though the investigation was dropped, she didn't get the funeral she deserved.
As a result of this development, a few fans of the ITV soap are starting to wonder if Becky might be alive.
Taking to social media platform X, this user said: I can't cope with the Becky being alive theories but I also can't stop reading them!!!.'
Passionate Swarla fan Sophie wrote a thread on the site, noting the possibility of Becky featuring in the Corrie and Emmerdale crossover episode at the start of next year.
This fan said: Becky is 'NOT' alive, nope, nope, nope!!! Wait….Just don't go there, I'm begging you please! Not on my watch.'
Amid these comments though, plenty of audience members are hoping the theory won't prove to be true. More Trending
'Becky Is Not Still Alive', this user wrote, while another simply said: 'Becky is not alive becky is not alive becky is not alive.'

Swain attempted to talk to Betsy about her mum, but when Betsy insisted that she hadn't read the letter because she wasn't interested in knowing who her sperm donor was, Lisa decided to keep quiet about what the letter was really about.
Unfortunately, Betsy wasn't being entirely honest either, as she later revealed to Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) that she knew exactly what the letter was about.
She confessed that she was convinced Becky's hit and run had been a coverup of some sort, and asked Lauren for her help in getting to the bottom of things.

Tom Fletcher apologises for 'insensitive' post after fatal Air India crash

Tom Fletcher has apologised for a post he made in the wake of the fatal Air India plane crash this week. All but one of the 242 people on board the London-bound flight died when it crashed in Ahmedabad shortly after take-off on Thursday (June 12). The sole survivor, British national Vishwashkumar Ramesh, is recovering in hospital with his brother saying he 'has no idea how he survived'. It is not yet known how many people on the ground were killed. The McFly frontman, 39, took to Instagram stories to apologise for a prior post in which he referred to flying a plane himself, as he has a pilot's licence. Follow Metro's blog for live coverage and updates from the Air India crash Fletcher went on to describe the initial post as 'insensitive' and said he had deleted it, explaining he had been late to seeing the news of the Air India flight. Fletcher wrote: 'Sorry, I've only just seen the terrible news about the Air India crash. 'So awful. Had I known earlier, I obviously wouldn't have posted about my flight today,'he added. Fletcher had written about flying a plane while listening to the Foo Fighters song Learn to Fly. Fletcher continued: 'I understand why that must have looked insensitive and have deleted it. Thanks for letting me know. 'My whole heart goes out to everyone involved in the crash and all their friends & families.' Fletcher has previously said if he had not become a musician, he would have been a pilot, after got his licence back in 2008 when he was just 23-years-old. Fletcher is not the only star who has apologised for a mistimed Instagram post after the Air India crash, as Mark Wright did the same following a scheduled Instagram post. Mark, 38, posted a picture of himself with his wife Michelle Keegan and their daughter posing in front of a private jet. Writing beneath it, Mark said: '1 day babe, for now we'll take row 26 with no extra leg room,' as he complained about standard planes. More Trending Moments later, the former Only Way is Essex reality star removed the post from his page. He then explained in a story: 'I apologise for a post I just put up on my page after today's heartbreaking events. 'I have posts from a holiday that are on the scheduled setting, which go out on future days I have set them for which was done last week. It's a horrendous coincidence that today's post was on such a devastating day. 'Once I logged in to my Instagram and realised the post had gone out, I immediately deleted. My heart goes out to everyone who has been effected from today. I'm sorry for this mistake and any offence caused.' Got a story? Hollyoaks star confirms new love interest for Frankie and reveals what's next

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Trigger warning: This article contains discussion of child sexual abuse and child exploitation. Hollyoaks star Isabelle Smith has confirmed a 'positive' future for Frankie Osborne following her harrowing exploitation and sexual abuse ordeals. The popular character, as viewers know, was groomed by Grace Black (Tamara Wall), who took advantage of her vulnerability in the wake of her sexual abuse ordeal at the hands of twin brother JJ (Ryan Mulvey). Over a series of months, Frankie, Dillon Ray (Nathaniel Dass) and Vicky Grant (Anya Lawrence) were manipulated into having sex in exchange for money, held captive at Fernmere Hill – often under lock and key. The nightmare came to an end a number of weeks ago when Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) intercepted the manor, causing a chain of events that led to the teens taking back control as they shot exploitation operation leader DI Banks (Drew Cain). Having gone through so much in her short time in the village thus far, fans are wondering what's next on the cards for Frankie. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Isabelle, who has received acclaim for her performance as the character, warned that the experience will have a 'lasting impact'. 'The last two years Frankie has had have been really traumatic,' she said in an exclusive chat with Metro, 'but ultimately the friends and the family she's got around her will get her through. Discussing an exciting new chapter for her alter-ego, the star added: 'There might be a new little love interest that spikes her attention! That helps her – you see her shift from keeping herself to herself. She starts putting herself out there a little bit more and becoming confident again. It's going to take her a little bit of time but she is getting there.' But just who is the new love interest? Elaborating further on the subject, Isabelle told me that it's Jacob Omari (Ethaniel Davy) who Frankie connects with. The two characters have crossed paths a number of times before, with Jacob having been groomed by Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey). He also happens to be the son of Kat (Sonia Ibrahim), who – while under pressure from Rex – lied about sleeping with Darren, which temporarily blew the Osborne clan apart. 'I think they end up trauma bonding,' she said. 'It will be revealed why she has taken a bit of an interest to him. But who Jacob's mum is – that's going to have an impact on Frankie and Darren's relationship. It's not going to be a straightforward love story and I think there will be some bumps along the way. 'It's been nice to play a lighter story and find different emotions in Frankie and how she would deal with things. I am getting scripts through [and I'm thinking] I've never had to navigate Frankie in that kind of situation – so it's been fun for me because I've been challenged in a different way.' Isabelle told me that that, with Frankie potentially finding love, she was keen to highlight that survivors of abuse and exploitation can find happiness. 'When I started the exploitation storyline, I wanted to make it clear that if you've been sexually abused or in an abusive relationship, this is not a linear thing – [exploitation] isn't going to happen to you, this was just in some extreme cases. 'I was also very adamant that people who have been in abusive relationships either as children or adults can go on to find love – it's not something that defines you as a person. It's something that's happened to you: you're a survivor and you can go forward – there is light at the end of the tunnel. It was really important and I wanted to navigate Frankie in a healthy, happy and consensual relationship.' In regards to what else is coming up, Isabelle confirmed that viewers can expect to see Frankie interacting with a host of new characters and her job in Price Slice will be back on the table. More Trending 'She is still being rebellious, she is still getting herself into a bit of trouble and she's trying to navigate a new relationship while also monitoring her friends,' concluded the actress. 'I think there's still going to be a lot of drama – and love, with cute moments that have sometimes cringed me out a bit but we need that, we need a bit of cringe! But yes, I think it's positive – which isn't something I've been able to say before [laughs]. It's quite nice – we're in a nice Frankie space at the moment.' ITV This Morning star leads tributes to guest feared dead in Air India plane crash This Morning's former editor Martin Frizell has paid tribute to former guest Fiongal Greenlaw, who is feared to have been on the Air India plane that crashed Former This Morning editor Martin Frizell has paid tribute to Fiongal Greenlaw, (Image: Ken McKay/ITV/Shutterstock ) Tributes have been pouring in for Fiongal Greenlaw, a former guest on This Morning, who is believed to have tragically lost his life in the Air India crash that occurred yesterday. The devastating news was shared by the show's former editor, Martin Frizell. Fiongal, 39, and his husband, Jamie Meek, 45, were reportedly on board the ill-fated flight, which was headed to London's Gatwick Airport but crashed shortly after taking off. ‌ The couple had been enjoying a holiday in India and were also co-founders of a wellness brand that had been featured on This Morning. ‌ Martinl, who was the editor of the popular ITV show until he stepped down earlier this year, took to Instagram to pay a heartfelt tribute to Fiongal. He shared a photo of Fiongal with hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, taken during his appearance on the show in January. Hel remembered Fiongal's infectious "vibrancy" and "sheer enthusiasm" during his guest spot, where he spoke passionately about auras. Despite being a self-proclaimed skeptic, Frizell was won over by Fiongal's charm and energy, reports the Mirror. I remember his visit to the studio in January, he was passionate about auras and although I'm a sceptical sort his vibrancy and sheer enthusiasm won folk over." He continued: "And I know for a fact that he hoped to use his appearance on This Morning to build his Wellness brand, he had a great future ahead of him. Thoughts are with his family and friends and those of his partner Jamie." Susanna Reid, host of Good Morning Britain, is among those who have shown support for Martin's post by liking it. Lisa Snowdon – a frequent guest on the show – expressed her emotions in the comments section with a teary-eyed and broken heart emoji. ‌ Fiongal made an appearance on This Morning in January, where he provided a reading over the auras of hosts Ben and Cat. At that time, Martin was still serving as the editor before leaving his position in February. The couple had uploaded a video from Ahmedabad airport shortly before taking off on the ill-fated flight. Fiongal and Jamie were captured beaming at the airport as they wrapped up their Indian adventure, sharing reflections on their journey in a video message. Content cannot be displayed without consent ‌ In the footage, Fiongal is heard saying: "We are at the airport just boarding. Goodbye India. Ten-hour flight back to England. What was your biggest takeaway Jamie?" Jamie's response of "I don't know." Laughter from Fiongal, who then quips to his husband: "Thanks for your contribution." The banter continues with Fiongal playfully noting that his lesson learned was "don't lose your patience with your partner". To which Jamie retorts: "You snapped at me at the airport for having chai." Article continues below The video concludes with Fiongal amongst other passengers, declaring he's heading back to the UK "happily, happily calm". This Morning is on ITV1 weekdays at 10am and on ITVX
