Eyewitness Weather for April 24 — 70s this week, 80s next week!

Yahoo25-04-2025

HERE IS YOUR EYEWITNESS WEATHER FORECAST FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 24 FROM CHIEF METEOROLOGIST JORDAN REED:
A weather system is passing through southern Canada, which might trigger a few showers and maybe an isolated thunderstorm this afternoon and evening, mainly for areas near and north of the New York State Thruway, like the Adirondacks! There could even be some gusty winds if one of those strong showers moves through.
Tonight, through Arbor Day tomorrow, a frontal boundary will linger around, keeping the chance of a few spotty showers alive, again mostly north of the New York State Thruway. Friday itself will be unseasonably warm again, with more upper 70s and lower 80s expected in the valleys. Then, Friday night into Saturday, a cold front will move in and bring widespread rain—most places can expect a good soaking, around a half to three-quarters of an inch. The steadiest rain will fall late Friday night into Saturday morning, tapering off later in the day. It will also get breezy behind that front, especially Saturday afternoon and night, with gusts up to 40 mph possible in some spots like Mohawk Valley. Temperatures will cool down noticeably by Saturday evening.
By Sunday, we're looking at drier but breezy weather, with wind gusts again likely over 25 mph. Things calm down by Sunday night as high pressure builds in, bringing dry and mild weather for Monday into early Tuesday. But Tuesday could bring another round of showers by the afternoon, along with very warm temperatures—some spots could even hit 80 degrees. Things should dry out again by Wednesday.
