
22-year-old held with 10.5 kg cannabis in Indore; tried to flee during police check, booked under NDPS act
The accused, identified as Sohan Dawar, a resident of Shail Maheshwar village in Khargone district, was caught during a routine surveillance check.
Upon noticing the approaching police vehicle, he attempted to flee, arousing suspicion. He was quickly surrounded and detained for questioning.
During the preliminary interrogation, Dawar confessed to procuring cannabis at low prices and selling it at higher rates in Indore to drug-dependent individuals in a bid to make quick money. He admitted that he had come to the city with the intent to distribute the contraband.
The police recovered 10.504 kilograms of cannabis and one mobile phone from his possession.
According to officials, Dawar is a B.Sc. dropout and works in welding. He has now been booked under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act.
Further investigation is underway to determine the extent of his network and whether he had accomplices involved in the trafficking operation. The Crime Branch has reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance approach against narcotics and continues to gather intelligence for decisive action against such offenders.

Three arrested for drug peddling
Trichy: Three people were arrested on charges of possessing and trying to sell ganja and opioid prescription drugs near Woraiyur in Trichy on Monday. Based on a tip about the sale of nacrotics substances at Aadhi Nagar, police went there and found three men standing suspiciously near a public toilet. When police searched them, they found 300 opioid prescription drug tablets and 100g of ganja with them. The accused were identified as N Matheshwaran, 20, from Woraiyur, H Dhanush, 21, from Mannachanallur, and M Gopishankar, 21, from Uyyakondan Thirumalai. Police booked them under Section 123 of BNS and Section 18 (illegal drug sale) of the Drug and Cosmetic Act and Section 20 (cannabis sale) of the NDPS Act, and arrested them. Drug trafficking accused's aide arrested with pistol, cartridges
Bhopal: The Crime Branch on Tuesday claimed to have arrested one more accused allegedly associated with MD drugs trafficking accused Yasin Ahmed, with a country-made pistol and a live cartridge. With this, the Crime Branch have recovered five pistols and five live cartridges in the past month. Additional DCP (Crime Branch) Shailendra Singh Chouhan said that the accused was identified as Larib Khan, 25, a resident of Jehangirabad. Acting on a tip-off from an informant that a man carrying a firearm was standing behind the old jail road in Jehangirabad intending to commit a crime, a Crime Branch team reached the spot and nabbed Larib. A search led to the recovery of a country-made pistol from his trouser pocket along with one live cartridge. Additional DCP Chouhan said that during questioning, Larib admitted to purchasing the firearm from Yasin Ahmed around 4–5 months ago for Rs24,000. He also disclosed that Yasin supplied illegal arms to many people across the city. He said Larib had past connections with Yasin Ahmed and Anshul alias Bhuri in drug-related transactions and also used to buy MD drugs from Yasin. Police believe further interrogation of Yasin Ahmed could lead to major revelations. Yasin Ahmed already has over a dozen criminal cases registered against him at various police stations in the city, including those related to drugs, arms, crimes against women, and other offences. Mute vagabond murdered in southeast Delhi park, 2 minors among 4 held
The Delhi Police arrested an 18-year-old man, a woman, and apprehended two minors in connection with the murder of a mute vagabond at the Astha Kunj Park in southeast Delhi, officials said on Tuesday. Police said the victim stared at the group for a long time, after which the accused assaulted him with fists, kicks and a stick.(Hindustan Times/Representative Image) The body of the victim, identified as Dharam alias Gunga, a mute vagabond who lived near the ISKCON temple, was found on the morning of August 13, the police said. The three accused, identified as Dinesh alias Lalla (18) and two minors, had come to the park for food and drinks. The victim stared at the group for a long time, after which the accused assaulted him with fists, kicks and a stick, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Hemant Tiwari said. In a related development, the police also arrested a woman identified as Rahana (44), a resident of Shriniwaspuri, who allegedly supplied cannabis to the accused. A case was registered under Section 103 (1) (murder) of the BNS at the Amar Colony Police Station. Since there was no CCTV coverage inside the park, the team analysed footage from the cameras along Raja Dhir Singh Marg near the temple. "A recording from around 12.40 am on August 13 showed three youths alighting from an auto and heading towards the park. Based on surveillance and inputs from informers, police laid a trap and apprehended the accused," the DCP stated. The police recovered blood-stained clothes, two mobile phones and a stick used in the crime. Dinesh, a resident of Banda in Uttar Pradesh, was previously involved in an attempt to murder case as a minor, the DCP added. During interrogation, the accused revealed that the victim allegedly kept staring at them, which provoked them. "When the victim failed to respond to repeated questioning, the accused and his associates assaulted him, leaving him fatally injured," the officer said. Additionally, cannabis weighing 175 grams was recovered from Rahana, leading to a separate case being registered under the NDPS Act at the Amar Colony Police Station.
