Newport wing 'flying' after rest as trio return to training
Newport County will welcome back "flying" Bobby Kamwa against Notts County – having already welcomed back another trio to training.Striker Kyle Hudlin, defender Kyle Jameson and former Cardiff City full-back Tom Davies have all returned to the grass after recent injury spells.None will be in consideration for the visit of the Magpies (Saturday 15:00 GMT), but Kamwa is set to head straight back into the starting XI having missed last weekend's defeat at Grimsby.Kamwa, 25, was rested for the 1-0 loss with Jardim admitting: "Bobby's flying again - we just had to give him a few days rest because he's already played more games than he's ever played in a single season."And don't forget in November he was out for a few weeks with injuries - so he's exceeded what we thought he could do and a rest was something he was needing."The Leeds United youth graduate signed from Burton Albion in the summer, scoring eight goals in 40 appearances across all competitions. His previous highest appearance tally was 26 games in League One last term.Keenan Patten is also fit again, with Jardim saying it feels the squad are approaching "full power" with the return of the three injury lay-offs.Striker Hudlin is back from the calf injury suffered against Carlisle in February, Jameson is training after a quad tear at the start of the month while 21-year-old Davies returns having been ruled out for the season with a hamstring injury in January."They gave a big effort and it was good to see them running about and nice to see them back," added Jardim. "There was a good energy in the session because they brought that back to the squad."After defeat on the road, Newport are hoping to make it three home wins in a row when the sixth-placed Magpies arrive at Rodney Parade.

They won the Carabao Cup, beating the big boys who were all top four or five in the table – Forest, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. 'Can they challenge for the title? They have the opportunity by signing the right players. By August if they bring in two of three big hitters, then they will be in a better position.' Looking back at his Toon career, Shearer added: 'I wasn't there when they lost a 12 point lead. I came in and was meant to be the final piece of the jigsaw but it didn't work out like that. Now, they are in a really healthy position. They h aven't signed anybody in the last three windows so you'd think that they are ready to kick on.' Newcastle have made firm enquiries for Brighton 's Joao Pedro and Anthony Elanga of Nottingham Forest though any deal is unlikely in this, the first transfer window of the close-season. Keegan achieved a second and a third during his time in charge of the Magpies. Since then Sir Bobby Robson is the only man to go remotely close, albeit his charge towards the title ran out of breath back in the early 2000s. The iconic manager took charge at St James' Park and finished fourth and third in successive seasons as Newcastle made themselves a regular top four side. Howe again has the club back in that position with their resources meaning they're likely to stick around.

Newport County goalkeeper Nick Townsend has opted to leave the League Two club after seven Supporters Player of the Year for the last two seasons, Townsend was out of contract this Antigua and Barbuda international was offered a new deal by The Exiles, but will depart Rodney Parade after 209 statement the club said: "Newport County would like to thank Nick for his service, commitment and dedication over the last seven years and wish him well with his new challenge."County, who appointed David Hughes as manager last month, have agreed personal terms with a new goalkeeper which they will announce "in due course."
