Rohit Sharma Reveals Father's Reaction On Test Retirement: 'He Was A Little...'

Rohit Sharma revealed his father was a 'little disappointed' with his Test retirement.
Senior India batter Rohit Sharma has revealed that his father, Gurunath, was happy but also 'a little disappointed' when he announced his Test retirement last month. Rohit explained that Gurunath has always appreciated red-ball cricket more than ODIs and T20s, and the longest format has always made him more excited — a love that has only gotten stronger seeing his son go up the ranks to the highest level of the sport.
Rohit called off his Test career in the first week of May via an announcement on his Instagram story. Only hours before his decision was made public, reports came through claiming that the BCCI selectors had decided to remove him from Test captaincy ahead of the upcoming five-match series against England in the summer.
'My father has seen me playing a lot of cricket with red ball, obviously," Rohit said at the launch of Cheteshwar Pujara's wife Puja Pujara's book 'The Diary of a Cricketer's Wife' in Mumbai. 'So he appreciates red ball cricket a lot. And then, obviously, he was a little disappointed when I announced my retirement. But was happy as well at the same time. But, yeah, that's my father. And he has obviously played a huge role in wherever I am today. Without their help, it never would have been possible," he added.
Rohit revealed that his father was even happier with his cameos in Test cricket than his world-record 264 in an ODI against Sri Lanka in November 2014.
'My father worked in a transport company. Like I said, what my mom did, my father was very much involved in sacrificing things so that we could have our life. But my father always, since day one, has been a fan of Test cricket. He doesn't like this new-age cricket. I still remember that day I scored 264 in the ODI. He was like, okay, well played. Well done. There was no excitement from him. It's important to go out there and all that. But even if I used to get good 30s or 40s or 50s or 60s, in Test cricket used to talk to me about it in detail. So that's the kind of love he had for the game," he added.
Rohit retired with 4301 runs from 67 Tests. His family was present — and in tears — when a stand named after him at the Wankhede Stadium was unveiled in a grand ceremony on May 17.

Actor Jax Taylor Quits Social Media, Prioritises Recovery From Drug Addiction

Last Updated: Jax Taylor has quit social media to focus on his mental health. The reality TV star, who has battled a cocaine addiction for over 20 years, announced the decision on Instagram. Jax Taylor has quit social media in an effort to protect his mental health. The 45-year-old reality TV star – who previously confessed to battling a drug addiction – has announced that he's taking a break from social media platforms, as he focuses on his 'mental health and recovery". Jax – who has Cruz, four, with Brittany Cartwright, his estranged wife – wrote on Instagram Story: 'I've made the decision to stay off social media for the next while to prioritize my mental health and recovery. My team will be running it for the time being. (sic)" Jax confessed that certain posts on social media can be triggering. Speaking on 'In the Mind of Jax Taylor', he explained: 'My brain is so fragile, and if I see certain things, they might trigger me. Something might hit a chord, and I don't think I'm strong enough to read certain things. For me to grow and get better and be a better person, there are some things I need to see in order to know what's going on. But I think I took it so much to the extreme of blocking everything and living in my own little world." Jax feels he now needs to cut himself off from social media platforms. He said, 'The phone has become a problem. Do I need to be on social media? No, I don't." Meanwhile, Jax previously admitted that he's been battling a cocaine addiction for more than 20 years. He said on the 'Hot Mic' podcast, 'I have substance issues – primarily with cocaine. It's hard to say out loud. I've been dealing with this on and off since I was 23 and now I'm 45. There was times where I would stop doing it but then there were times where I'd go heavy on it. I just want to let people know this is a really, really tough disease and it's a really tough sickness." Brittany subsequently claimed that she spent years trying to help Jax to 'get better". She said on 'When Reality Hits', 'No one wants Jax to be better more than I do, let's be real. 'I tried and tried and tried for years to help this man get better and for us to be a happy family, I was deeply and madly in love with him, there's no one that can ever deny that," she concluded. ‘He has played County cricket, he knows the conditions there': Ricky Ponting bats for Arshdeep Singh to be included in India's playing XI vs England in 1st Test

Former Australia captain and current Punjab Kings coach Ricky Ponting said that PBKS pacer Arshdeep Singh should be slotted into the playing XI of the 1st England vs India Test at Headingley, set to start on June 20. Ponting feels that Arshdeep, who has played county cricket will be familiar with the conditions in the United Kingdom. 'I would actually have him in their Test team at the start (of the England series). He's very skillful, he has played County cricket, he knows the conditions there and the Dukes Ball will help him in the UK as well,' he said. 'To have that point of difference, having a left-armer in your team, will be something that if India don't do it then it'll be a bit of a surprise to me.' 'As we know in England the ball still swings (be it) 30, 40 or 50 overs old. To have someone that's got that swing bowling ability and a left-armer, (it) is something that the Indian team should definitely look out for on that tour,' he added. Post his T20I debut for India in 2022, Arshdeep, now 26, has become India's leading wicket-taker in T20Is with 99 scalps in 63 games. But he has played only 12 matches for Punjab at the first-class level with 39 wickets at an average of 12. In 2023, after a 17-wicket IPL season, the left-arm pacer signed for English county Kent and played five first-class matches picking up 13 wickets at an average of 41.76 with his best figures of 3 for 58. Last year, Arshdeep took 20 wickets for Punjab in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and it was his five-wicket haul against Mumbai in which he picked up the wickets of Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube and Suryakumar Yadav that led Rai to believe that his ward was making progress in red-ball cricket too. Arshdeep would carry Dukes and Kookaburra balls in his kit bag and practise with them whenever he got a chance.

Justin Bieber's SKYLRK debut gets roasted online, fans say he ‘raided Hailey's closet'

Justin Bieber is no stranger to bold fashion, but his latest attempt to tease his upcoming fashion label, SKYLRK, got dragged instead of hyped. On Friday, the 31-year-old dropped some 'soft launch' fits on Instagram, including a cobalt-blue matching ensemble complete with fuzzy socks and slides — and the internet is not feeling it. View this post on Instagram Justin Bieber drops SKYLRK sneak peek, internet says 'keep it, king' What was meant to be a cool, candid sneak peek quickly spiralled into meme central. Why? Because the photos appeared to be shot in what fans believe is Hailey Bieber's walk-in wardrobe — complete with racks of women's designer dresses, stilettos, and a whole jewellery museum in the background. Naturally, fans did not hold back. Fans react: 'Give Hailey her leggings back' From Pilates comparisons to closet conspiracy theories, the roast fest took off fast. One of the top-liked comments read, 'Justin, stop playing and give Hailey her leggings back.' Another fan called it out bluntly: 'Get out of her closet, Biebs.' The comments on his post | Credit: Instagram/justinbieber Others joked about the fit looking like 'Pilates starter pack energy,' while one user posted a meme of Spongebob with skinny legs. Someone even zoomed into Bieber's lower half and asked, 'Not the little peepee stains, Justin, come on now.' Brutal? Absolutely. Iconic? Maybe. Justin and Hailey Bieber | Credit: Instagram/haileybieber SKYLRK remains a fashion mystery Despite the online chaos, Bieber seems committed to his vision. SKYLRK — the name of the brand he has been teasing since 2023 — still has no official drops, no product reveals, and zero posts on its Instagram page. Its website? Locked behind a password. Suspiciously secretive or genius-level hype building? View this post on Instagram Reportedly, the line will include sweatsuits, beanies, slides, sunglasses, basketball gear, and trainers — a more elevated sibling to Drew House. And according to Page Six, Hailey Bieber herself had a hand in the design process. She previously hinted via a now-expired Instagram Story that she was 'helping out.' With comparisons already flying between SKYLRK's promo items and Hailey's Rhode products (especially that phone case fans are calling a dupe of her Lip Case), some are wondering if this is a fashion crossover — or just a closet clash.
