ITV Coronation Street fans predict soap legend will return to cobbles to save Sean Tully

Daily Record23-04-2025

ITV Coronation Street fans are convinced that a former cobbles legend is set to make a return, 36 years after her first episode, to save Sean Tully from thug Mick Michaelis.
Coronation Street enthusiasts are speculating that a soap legend might return to rescue Sean Tully from the clutches of Mick Michaelis. Sean, played by Antony Cotton, has been a staple on the ITV soap since his debut in 2003 and has become one of its most cherished characters.
The Rovers Return barman has been involved in numerous major storylines over the years, including a series of failed romances and becoming a father to Dylan Wilson, portrayed by Liam McCheyne. Recently, things took a dark turn on the cobbles when newcomer Mick, played by Joe Layton, brutally attacked Sean.

As fans will remember, Sean's son Liam is currently in the Secure Training Centre (STC) following his involvement in the death of Mason Radcliffe, played by Luca Toolan. His time there has been challenging, as he's being tormented by bully Brody, played by Ryan Mulvey, Leicester Mercury reports.
In a shocking twist, it was revealed that Brody is actually the son of Mick and Lou, played by Farrel Hegarty.
However, after Sean reported Brody's behaviour, Mick assured Brody he would handle the problem - referring to Sean.
Later, Sean was discovered beaten and bloodied after Mick attacked him, which Sean reported to the police.
But when Mick threatened Sean's friend Gemma, played by Dolly-Rose Campbell, Sean changed his statement.

Now, as Mick's reign of terror unfolds on screen, causing havoc for the residents, fans believe a former resident could be returning to put an end to his tyranny.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, fans expressed their eagerness for certain characters to exit.

Another fan speculated about the return of a familiar face, writing: "He's vile, they need to get Liz McD back she wouldn't stand for any of this!" A third chimed in: "Definitely!"
Soap legend Liz McDonald, portrayed by Beverley Callard, first graced the screen in 1989.

Known as Sean's close friend, Liz managed the Rovers Return Inn for many years until her departure in 2020.
In other Coronation Street news, fans are also chatting about a potential new romantic interest for the adored Roy Cropper.
Roy, played by David Neilson, was famously married to on-screen wife Hayley, portrayed by Julie Hesmondhalgh.

The iconic pair tied the knot in the late nineties and went on to become one of TV's most cherished and long lasting couples.

However, Hayley sadly passed away in 2014 after a terminal cancer diagnosis and it seems Roy may finally be opening up his heart to another returning character - Eileen Grimshaw's sister, Julie Carp.

Sadly, Julie is also grappling with a cancer diagnosis, and she isn't expected to recover.
Fans spotted a poignant moment between Julie and Roy where she opened up to him about her tough cancer journey while Roy in turn, reminisced about losing Hayley.
Viewers are now abuzz with speculation that there are hints of an unforeseen bond forming between Julie and Roy instead.

Comedian Lee Mack returned to present the show but this time he was joined by 100 celebrities and sports stars as opposed to the general public. They were put to the test in the quiz where 'the questions have nothing to do with remembering facts, but are all about logic and common sense', explains the Radio Times. The aim of the game was to make it to the end, answering the 1% question correctly to take home up to £100,000 for charity and they were successful. It's the 1% question... Three Lions, two words. What are they? #The1PercentClub At the very end of the show, only two celebrities remained with a chance at making the overall donation total £100,000. Unlike regular versions of the show, the celebrities were working together rather than against each other like members of the public would. While comedian Lloyd Griffith got the final question incorrect, former footballer Clarke Carlisle answered it correctly and won the prize money. Carlisle has also previously been named Britain's Brainiest Footballer. The prize fund included £1,000 from celebrities who were out of the show, having answered a question incorrectly. As pointed out by the Radio Times, the show isn't about knowing facts, it's about using your brain to answer the questions. Each player gets one pass which they can use to help them skip a question but once they have used it, an incorrect answer takes them out of the game. If they make it to the 1% question, they are asked to go down to the stage for the final question where they see if they are winners.
